I have just read a warning about Windows 10 in a magazine we have here called Computer Active.

According to them Microsoft intend to reclassify the free download as a recommended update early next year. It means that
there are only two ways to avoid having your Windows 7 or 8 computer upgraded. The first is to switch off the automatic update option. The down side is that you wont get any security updates at all. The other way is that when windows 10 is downloaded but before it is installed you will be asked whether you want to continue. If you want to keep your old system then say no.

I think this is a real intrusion into peoples. freedom of choice If this info is correct they will have gone as far as possible without actually forcing people to upgrade. They are probably relying on people slipping up and having Windows 10 thrust upon them, whether they want it or not.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone else who has read or heard about this proposal just by way of confirmation.

By 2016 they should have most of the bugs worked out of it.

But ya know... it's still going to be Windows 10.

My computer crashed on Monday evening and so I was forced to buy a new laptop and it has windows 10 where I had 8.1 previously. So far I have no complaints about it. I'm actually wondering if it could be the upgrade itself rather than having the computer integrated with it. I must say I do prefer windows 7

It's not, but it is capitalizing on the ignorance of people that don't keep up on this kind of news and who don't know how to disable automatic updates.

And yes, it is true. They are aiming to bring everyone under the same umbrella, especially since Windows 7 mainstream support is over and is getting closer to its extended support end of life. MS is trying to consolidate things.

When? Where did you hear/read about that?

The new browser - Edge - was stated as being faster than IE, and it is. But an operating system can't make your web surfing faster.

I put it in the conspiracy forum because there were one or two earlier threads about windows 10 placed here that claimed
there was a conspiracy surrounding this operating system.

Can anyone explain why Microsoft with its years of experience and an army of programmers and beta version testers still
launch dodgy versions of Windows that need upgrades to fix bugs?

Ok silly question time..This is me, so yeah..lol.. I still have Win7, but do I/ should I upgrade to Win10 now? I really don't want to. Question two: can Win7 users still use the new Edge browser, and since that's their new browser, how do I completely uninstall IE 11?

It's the bug! Good morning blue!

1. You're not pressured to just yet. The cut-off for the free upgrade is July 29th, so you have until then to at least enjoy Windows 7. Just keep in mind what tanach posted; if you have automatic Windows updates turned on, your computer will download Windows 10 silently once it becomes a "recommended update" (right now it's still an optional one).

2. Nope, Edge is exclusive to Windows 10. Windows 10 still has IE 11 too (lol).

Because it is an exceedingly complex piece of software.

Did you just recently download Windows 10 from your previous operating system(which could be Windows 7, 8, or 8.1?)? If you have, I think they give you 30 days to go back to your previous operating system.

I hear some people are sticking with their previous ones more than Windows 10. I have it myself, and so far, there's only a couple of things I don't like. Other than that, it's okay. Still, I wouldn't have minded going back to 8.1.

To everyone here, what would your choice? Would you go with Win 10? Or go back to/stick with an older Windows OS?

Reason why I'm asking is because I'm putting this into consideration.
