In my area of the same country in which you reside, the phrase IS offensive, so please don't act like you know how an idiom is interpreted in every part of the United States.

Also, the phrase "Indian giver" DID originally referred to Native Americans. There seems to be a bit of uncertainty (at best) among some of the folks here concerning the original meaning.

It doesn't matter what you posted it as. There are many people of indian origin who are members or not who have access to this thread on a christian site and it is wrong. Don't deflect as to what other people do or don't do, you're responsible for yourself. It doesn't matter how you intended that phrase. I'd encourage you to read and be educated about the origins of that phrase which go well and beyond how you intended it and is certainly considered racially offensive in America and beyond. Education and humility need to be considered.

I find this incredibly ignorant and thus why I suggested further education at the outset. The phrase has significant connection to race and colour and more than what you flippantly describe as "whatever". Your "country" is not the only place of origin for people on this site, there are many globally. Please take this into consideration in your posts in the future.

Actually it is offensive in America, Jerry Seinfeld explored the phrase that you employed as well as others in light of how it can be seen by those of native indian origin. I hope this discussion has enlightened you and encouraged you to be more self aware in the future.

Well...I can speak from experience because I grew up on an Indian reservation. I also know what it is like to be jumped walking home by a group of people because of the color of my skin. I also know from experience that the term is accurate. Lol

It's definitely a term that I haven't passed on to my son and won't. Idk tho. The bible tells us to do our best to be at peace with everyone. That works both ways too although there are people who have no interest in peace.
