How can one detect "Pride" is ones life

No need to "detect" it, just accept it. It's there.

and defeat it.

By comparing ourselves to the sinless perfection of Jesus, and seeing how far short we fall...instead of comparing ourselves to others.

You cannot deliver yourself. Besides that would be works.

The writer said 'Lord, you have got to do it for me'. 'Wait upon the Lord and He will renew your strength'. Faith is the key! Not a bunch of mind games that will drive you crazy.

There are variable definitions and qualities to the word pride, but I see you've placed it in quotations, so I'm guessing you're describing the very bad, most extreme kind that leads to destructive occurrences. No, I don't think people can see the forest for the trees.

It's like a pyramid, wherein the base blocks are self-loathing because of past acts for which they feel unforgivable. Then, each new thought can compound the problem and stack the structure until it's a horrible construction, inspiring fear and despair in those who observe it. Only thorough, honest examination of the base can shake the integrity and crumble the whole. Just make sure you're not crushing the architect in the process, or they can build no better home.

If you think the good works you do are by your own power (and not by the power of the Holy Spirit), there may be pride there.

Just remind yourself that you can do all things through Christ (not through your own self) who strengthens you ​(not by your own strength).

I think pride relates to ego.....but can there really be such a thing as a 'healthy ego'?

Is not a healthy ego not also a gift of God? - think of the opposite; an inferiority complex or depression..

I am all to aware of my pride inside myself I am aware of everything about me that isn't jesus, but the above post by freeNChrist saying to accept it is something I simply cannot and will not do.

I don't know if that is true or not but like I said I believe all th8ings are possible with God and so I will seek him and to be just like him with abandon with blind faith, it is my personal and firm belief that love and blind faith can open a door that has never been opened before and can make a way where there never was. If God says all things are possible with him then I truly believe this and thus will go by faith not what we think is possible or impossible and not how we think things are going to turn out. I can guarantee that when the apocalypse does come bringing along the rapture and tribulation and the antichrist and the second coming it isn't going to be how most of us believed it would

A focus on self whether with an inflated opinion or a deflated/depressed opinion still has self in the center.
Christ focused is best.

But you know ever since my post last night when I said that all things are possible with God I began to wonder how many of us truly believe this? we know the scriptures say it we teach it but do we truly believe it? God made this amazing promise so I decided that I am going to put this promise to the test

Your spirit is already clean since you belong to Christ. It is our corrupted flesh that we battle with, this is where renewing the mind according to the Spirit is about. Til the day you die your flesh is corrupted but you will raised uncorrupted.
