You know what, why don't we all go to the Bible Study chatroom and discuss this? I think she's missing some of the responses because there are too many. Clearly shows how many people here are willing to sacrifice large amounts of their time to show her the truth. JF, our works are but filthy rags. You are right to say that Christians don't follow what the bible says but that doesn't change the WORD of God. With human reasoning and use of logic, you will never completely understand this. Let's take this to the chatroom and have a bible study if you want.

So, honest question here: why did Paul keep the feasts?
Because Jerusalem was still standing while he was alive, and he kept Jewish custom in order to be acceptable to the Jews. The festivals (what you call feasts; actually the correct term is appointed times) were only to be kept in Jerusalem.

Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose [i.e., Jerusalem]; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty: Deuteronomy 16:16

Besides ....Christ said to keep the commandments in Matthew 19:17.
I believe you will find he was answering a question asked by a man still under Jewish law. In that same passage, He told THAT particular man to sell all he owned, and give it away. Are you also choosing to follow that "command" that was given in almost the same breath as the other comment about keeping kosher?

I would suggest asking some questions except for the fact that I don't think you necessarily should be hanging around to find out. I hear people complain about this church and that church often here, but I seem to have been spared the bother. Thank God! My pastor is a very good teacher, a wonderful guy, his wife is great, they have lovely children, and the congregants are warm and accepting. I hope you are able to find something that suits you and fills your need to have the Truth taught and exposited.
I second that. It sometimes seems people must diligently seek these horrible-sounding churches so many complain of. I absolutely LOVE mine.... with all the "warts" most of us there have.

way ne any the scripture says God does have a wife, or an unfaithful one at least, also saved believers are the bride of Christ, which precludes a marriage someday. Hosea is commanded to marry a harlot, speaking of adultery to the lord. I think the Lord The Jews being his wife, not sure.

So that church I talked about turned out to be right about a lot but also turned out to be wrong about some stuff too. I walked into Bible study and they were like "God has a wife!" So I'm re-thinking my choices.

Anyways I do agree with them on the Jewish festivals and stuff. They made A LOT of sense there. So now I'm lost because I don't want to go back to mainstream Christanity but I don't want to go to that church at this point...

John 14: 15, 21, 23, Matthew 28:20 - This is why it is so important that we keep the ten commandments

John 13:15- Jesus kept the sabbath

John 7- Jesus went to the feast

John 6:53-58- as I was explained this talked about how we need passover

What do you think about all this? Because I cannot just pretend like this stuff doesnt exsist...
Jesus fulfilled the law for us because we all have broken it. Let's say you were in a lawsuit and you lost the suit. So then you go to law school and you get everything you need to win the case. Guess what the judged would tell you he already ruled against you and the case was dismissed. Same with the OT. God declears us all of breaking it in the NT, therefore we are to cast the OT out like Galatians tells us to and live by the NT alone. Every day is a feast and a Sabbath in Christ. The NT says also that the law is not of faith. So many people ignore the fact that only belief in the finished work of the cross is what makes perfect just like Hebrews tells us in the NT. And when you are perfect you are not going to disobey God.

nd I will even betroth me unto me forever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgement, and in loving kindness, and in mercies. We are also the bride of Christ. And is preparing us a city.

I found out why 99% of christians dont know how the bible was put together. When I say put together, I mean how the 66 books were chosen out of 180+ books, letters, etc., and how they were orderred from Genisis to Revelations as well. The answer is so demoralizing. Why would God choose the Pope to be in charge of this project, and why didnt they show their work on why they felt God told them to pic this book and put it here? Can anyone help?

I can't help too much because I don't know if the above is true in the first place, but I do know that the Popes have been Catholic, and Catholic Bibles have 73 books. So the rest of us who have 66 must not have been going by what a Catholic Pope supposedly chose...

Athanasius aka the immortal one, was the one in charge of deciding which books to choose and what order they go in. If in the beginning the Word was God and God is the spirit of love, and love doesn't demand its own way, happened to all the people that lived in South America and North America and the billions of people who lived far away from all the Middle Eastern Jewish religion s?

It's just I have seen so many people sin and be like "it's ok! I'm saved and an imperfect human!" And it drives me up a wall. Also it would depend on if it was part of the ten commandments or the mosaic law or part of the appointed feasts and festivals given to the people directly from God.
It's not OK and you seem to know that anyway. We are to try to not sin, keeping in mind that we shall always fall short. We will at least do better, especially with more and more prayer thrown into the mix.

...Is this related at all to the first question?

Because the whole point is that we are now grateful to be free from sin, not free to sin. There is repentance, and murderers and liars can repent, believe and be saved as well, but the idea is not to go back to that, and not to run towards sin in general.

Remember the dog going back to its own vomit?

"Proverbs 26:11 - Like a dog that returns to his vomit is a fool who repeats his folly."

Nobody should return to their old worldly ways...we should accept the grace that has been given to us.

Remember the two most important commandments Jesus gave in Matthew 22:37-40:

And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’38 This is the great and [o]foremost commandment.39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”

Those two commandments encompass all the commandments, and we follow these commands out of love.
So then what does it mean to love God? If loving God means to just love everyone else then we have to wonder what does love look like? Because everyone has a different love language. Also we can love someone and still be a liar. A murderer still has the capacity to love. Anot adulterer can still love. So if the whole law depends on just love then we should be free to break the ten commandments.

Now I think you are just trying to talk silly. You can love someone, and yet, murder them?

1 Corinthians 9:20

"When I was with the Jews, I lived like a Jew to bring the Jews to Christ. When I was with those who follow the Jewish law, I too lived under that law. Even though I am not subject to the law, I did this so I could bring to Christ those who are under the law."

When my mother who I dearly loved was diagnosed with terminal cancer, my wife and I went to look after her for three months in her home during her illness. During this time I guess I lived closer to the biblical ideal than I had ever previously lived. My happiness was seeing my mother happy. I delighted in taking her to see her friends, or bringing her friends to see her. During this time I did not want to murder my mother or covet what was hers. I didn't steal from her, lie about her, and I honoured her. Did I act this way because I looked to the Ten Commandments and strove to obey them? No! I never once thought of them where my mother was concerned. I acted that way because I loved her dearly

I never said you can love the person you murder. I said you can LOVE. Murderers have family and they love their families so they have the capacity to love.
