I love the statement they make that this true remnant church has to begin in America. (Only one of quite a few interesting things the feel this church HAS to be.)

It states on that page they are similar to seventh day Adventist. I think the major difference is the remnant church doesn't believe in the trinity.

What I don't understand is why people are so content with mainstream Christianity...why aren't people looking for more?

I have found Christ and he is my Lord and Savior. Why are you looking for bondage in the Law?

"Yes", like most people, I was not content with "Christianity", mainstream, or any otherwise. So, about five years ago, I began, instead, to look for Jesus.

I agree Willie. Just because we go to Church every Sunday doesn't mean we are "Main Stream Christians". I have found more truth about my faith by reading the Word of God and allowing HS to teach me. Church allows me to spend time with other Christians. This is something I don't get at work so it is refreshing.

There is no more greater revelation then growing in the knowledge and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ! There is no life outside of Him. There is a christian religion and then there is Jesus. I have tried the Christian religion a few times with a sincere deep longing heart but it was a very poor substitute for knowing Jesus!

Pray these prayers to your loving Father..

Ephesians 3:16-19 (NASB)
.. that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

Ephesians 1:17-18 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.
[SUP]18 [/SUP] I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

What I don't understand is why people are so content with mainstream Christianity...why aren't people looking for more?

JF,

This will be difficult for you to understand right now, but it is much more difficult to follow Jesus than it is to simply adhere to some laws..... AND, at the same time, MUCH EASIER.

Because we all have questions inside of us such as, "Where do we go when we die", "What is greater than self", "What is a proper way to live", "Am I bad". For some, it's easy to take what is given and move on, as the questions have been sufficiently answered to move about daily lives and put food on table and a roof over heads.

Such is the nature of "philosophy" and a "seek for greater truths". It's as a container filled with water. Some require very little, as a thimble, before they're content. Some require a barrel, and they are unsettled until it's filled a sufficient amount. Either is a mixed blessing and a curse, neither is truly a more preferable container.

So true!... our minds and pre-conceived thoughts war against the knowledge of Him!

i think a list of rules and boxes to check like they have on that link is what i would call "mainstream christianity" in this context -- an appearance of godliness, without a connection to the head.

i'm with Willie here -- dissatisfied with a "show" of spirituality, i look for Christ, not for a system.

First: you confused the ten commandments for the law. The mosaic law was the thing that was done away with.

Second: the ten commandments are more like guardrails to keep a person from falling into sin

Third: the ten commandments does not replace what Jesus did on the cross. NOTHING CAN DO THAT.

A relationship with God through Jesus Christ is what you need and should desire. :)

The 10 commandments were considered the old covenant

And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, [even] ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone. Deuteronomy 4:13

And the old covenant is no more.

In calling [the new covenant] new, he has declared the former [covenant to be old]. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old [is] near to disappearing. Hebrews 8:13

First the ten commandments are the foundation of the law all of the law.

Second the ten commandments are a school teacher to reveal to us that we always sin and require a Redeemer who is Christ. The law does not keep one from sin but the law makes sin personal.

Hello JF,

The ten commandments, along with the other 600 plus laws are all considered to be the Law of Moses. Everything that was given to Moses by God while in the Sinai desert belong to the Law. Every requirement written in the first five books of the OT belong to the law of Moses. You cannot separate the ten commandments from the Law. If you trust in your keeping of the ten commandments or any other works as requirement for salvation, then you are not trusting in Jesus as the One who alone provided salvation. He met the righteous requirements of the law on our behalf rescuing us from the curse of the law, because law brings wrath for those who try to keep it.
