1Pe_5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the DEVIL, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

How can the DEVIL be bound from the time of Jesus till now, like some false teachers teach today, if the Apostle Peter teaches the DEVIL is NOT bound but walks around, seeking who he can devour?

Will these false teachers now say, that THE Devil is not satan? In order to keep the doctrine they hold on to, they must interpret the above verse so that THE DEVIL is not referring to satan, Because if they would believe the Word of God and what it plainly teaches, they will have to come to the conclusion that what they believe is WRONG, and they can't have that can they? It is not possible for them to be wrong in this matter, therefore THE DEVIL is not satan. They teach satan is bound from the time of Jesus till now, which is 2,000 years later, yet Scriptures teach satan is not bound. These Scriptures therefore must be changed to fit into their own doctrine, they will not escape the wrath of God when it comes upon them, because they lead children astray because of their OWN beliefs, and not what Scriptures teach.

This passage does not refer to ‘The Devil’ himself, as ‘diabolos’ is anarthrous (i.e. it lacks a preceding Greek definite article).


Further, ‘ho antidikos’ (the adversary) is used in only one other NT passage, Mat 5.25, and is in the context of being thrown into prison.

A simple reading of this passage (and we all know that you like simplicity) from Rev 12 clearly informs the reader that the war in Heaven occurred between Michael and his angels & Satan and his angels – but, it was Jesus (God) that cast Satan from Heaven.

Scripture informs the reader that the same God The Son that cast Satan from Heaven, also cast Satan into the abyss, at The Cross.

The abyss is a spiritual prison in which Satan, himself, has been rendered impotent, from directly possessing anyone, for a period of time.

Satan's demons, however, are freely roaming, and are referred to as Satan's 'power', right now.

Since Satan was rendered impotent at The Cross (Heb 2.14, etc.), he no longer has the ability to deceive/lead astray anyone wishing to come to Jesus (Heb 2.15, Rev 20.3, etc.).

While Satan, himself, cannot directly influence people, his minions can...and the demons are referred to as his 'power', etc throughout scripture.

Demons cannot possess a true Christian, however, they can influence a Christian...

Demon influence would be the daily temptations counter to scripture.

For those that are possessed, demons are not allowed to kill their host, only to torture them, according to Revelation.

Satan possession is turning over the driver's wheel and going on auto-pilot, such as when Satan was allowed to enter into Judas.

We are now living in the 1K earthly reign, in which Satan is bound, and we are free to come to Jesus....when he becomes unbound, it will be for a short time because his demons will already be mounted to their respective riders, as again told to us in Revelation...
