Jk jk jk jk. You know I think you're great.
Every time someone types "jk" it reminds me of my MBA prof who went by the nickname "JK". He was a taskmaster, though he was one of my inspirations for my present career. :/

I'm still single because when I love, I love too hard and too deep, I'm too sweet and too caring so people take advantage of those things and use me and mistreat me, thus giving me a reason to finally leave. I'm single because I refuse to bring just anybody around my kids. I'm single because I refuse to play "house" with someone who has no intentions on marrying me. I'm single because I will not give someone the privilege to use my body for his own pleasure with no true feeling. I guess I'm single because I feel and know my worth and refuse to settle for less.

40 page thread.... Hmmmm lol well I think it's a good thing. I'm maybe on the youngside but maybe not 28 single white male. If you DONT think being single is a blessing than I feel a little sorry for you and hope you can see it differently. Sure I do not get to enjoy my own children but other than that everything is amazing about being single. You can make huge life changes like quit your job any day you want to follow a new passion. Move to any part of the world on a whim. Be extremely charitable due to lack of spouse and children's needs (assuming you don't have children)

I haven't read too many posts and with the mindset that most of us have I do not think anyone is feeling too sad about single life. Once you feel the love of Jesus and the father it is very hard to feel lonely. If I am wrong message me and I will gladly be your friend and help take your loneliness away!

My favorite part of not being married currently is that when I do marry I will want children quickly. I DO not want my children growing up in this America at this time. You can shelter them all you want but one day they will have to go out into the world and I just don't want them to have to see this world for what it is currently. I would rather have children in 20 years if I have to so they can grow up in a better environment. If God blessed me with my soulmate tommorow I would move to south America before having a child.

God bless

The reason why people are still single is simple the bible says in Mathew 7:7 Ask ,Seek, and Knock.Ask and it will be given to you;Seek and you will find;Knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives; He who seeks find; and to him who knocks the door will be opened.
This is where the solution lies for the mystery of single hood.We do ask but how are we asking because in bk:James4:3 therefore let us do soul searching and find out what is the missing link.God is faithful and he will do what he has promised to his children. Most of the time God speaks to us and we are to busy to hear his voice because we want it in our own way right there ,right now and when it takes time to manifest we loose focus.Lets apply the bible principles and am sure it will work and remember Faith without actions is dead.

Of course this has to be the right answer. Thank you for clarifying this. It all makes perfect sense now. I'm not single because I enjoy it. I'm not single because I don't really want to seek a spouse right now. I'm single because I am lazy or too busy and I am not asking God for it the right way.

I'm thinking this was probably directed toward people who would rather NOT be single. :p

Of course. It's taken me nearly two years of "kicking and screaming" (I call it that) to have my heart knowing more of my motivations behind my seeking a wife. This is what I've discovered:

1. I have a greater desire to be with like-minded people than marriage right now.
2. I have just as great a desire for mentally intimate dialogue with said people. And tighter hugs.
3. Once I have reliable transportation, the urgency to marry should be greatly diminished. More freedom seems to do that.
4. If I do get a relationship soon, I'm totally content with waiting years to marry, seeing as I'm still in debt. I Co. 7:36 hasn't even begun to apply yet.

So, to me, the best way to be patient for something is to examine the very thing you want and determine if it's in line with Scripture. For nearly two years (and some of you know this), I was sort of preaching the gospel of "Get married now so you won't sexually sin!" Then I realized that for that to even happen, you either have to already have a heated relationship, or you actually have to truly be out of control. If you can still soul search and you're willing to listen, you're not yet out of control, but don't push it!

Some more food for thought: Anyone ever noticed that you most desire someone when life's not so easy, and when life is easy, you don't have as much of a burning desire? All the more reason to keep praying (I Thessalonians 5:17), keep guarding your heart (Proverbs 4:23), and keep minding your thoughts (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Well, I personally am single by choice. I was in a relationship recently for about 4 months. (This is after my marriage ended) And I realized I am content with the way things are. This recent relationship took God out of 1st place in my life and I felt the repercussions of it. All is well now!

You made an interesting comment there.

The reason why most desire someone when life's not so easy and not as much when life is easy, is because they are confused between companionship and romance. What one needs during a difficult phase is companionship - a person to whom they can bare their heart, who would listen to them without judgment and who would provide them emotional support. This can be obtained even through an emotionally-intense platonic relationship. Romance, on the other hand, is more than just that. The desire for a romantic relationship will remain constant. When this difference between the two relationships is clear, people are able to make better choices.

In response to the title and original question why:

"Theirs not to make reply, Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do & die,"
