No, beg to differ. Scripture is not telling us that Mystery Babylon is Jerusalem. It is telling us that it is ISLAM and its city Mecca. All descriptions point to this.
These clues are dreamed up, which I shall prove...
Here are top 20 clues given for Mystery Babylon:
1.Supported by a succession of 7 (separate) World Powers throughout history
In Rev.17, we are shown the "seven heads" of the 1st beast of Rev.13:1-2 represent "seven mountains" upon which the harlot sits. In conjunction with that, we are shown the "ten horns" are ten kings that rule one hour with the beast king. In Dan.2, we are shown all the previous beast kingdoms 'together' when the final beast of ten toes of part clay with part iron are struck and it all comes tumbling down. Thus Revelation and Daniel reveal the harlot will indeed be involved with those old beast kingdoms when it is established in final in our near future. One of the problems with the doctrine PlainWord is that has not yet been established on earth today, those ten kings are not manifest yet, nor is the beast king of Rev.17 that will reign from Jerusalem at the end of this world.
2.“Sits on”/Supported by - evil 8th Satanic Empire related to the previous 7.
That is an error. The 7th beast is the one to come for the end of this world. The 8th is reserved for the time after Christ's thousand years reign, which will complete the beast king role forever. Satan himself is who that last two, the 7th and 8th beast kings is about, and is why it is Satan that was "of" the previous beasts.
3.Biggest (or oldest) False Religion on earth or both
This is great error. Jerusalem has fallen to the ancient religious idol worship that first began in ancient Sumer-Babylonia several times in OT history, with God trying to deal with His people in Jerusalem. What Apostle Paul called "the Jew's religion" in Galatians 1 is what he left when Christ Jesus converted Paul. It is what our Lord Jesus rebuked the deceived Jews for. The Jew's religion began from the Jew's captivity in Babylon, and they began to follow the philosophical writings of their Jewish sages instead of God's Word only. It was in that time of captivity when they developed their
Babylonian Talmud which is still followed by them today mostly, which is NOT Scripture but philosophical writings, writings that include saying our Lord Jesus was a seditionist come to overthrow their government. It labels the Gentile peoples as 'goyim', which means 'cattle'.
From Bible history, we know false ones crept in among Judah, even the scribes were Kenite foreigners that existed among the Canaanite nations in early history. Old remnants of the Canaanites that were made bondservants to Israel also crept into the priesthood. That corruption setup the conditions for them to have our Lord Jesus crucified at His 1st coming.
When the Babylon Harlot of Rev.17 is established for the end, it will be the worst condition of false idol worship in Jerusalem that has ever been. Like Jesus said to those crept in unawares with Judah at Jerusalem,
"I am come in My Father's name, and ye receive Me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive." (John 5:43). Those will receive the beast king of Rev.17 when he appears in Jerusalem for the end. That will be the same one of Rev.13:11 forward that is to work great signs and wonders, and cause them to make an "image of the beast" idol in false worship, which is what the "abomination of desolation" our Lord Jesus quoted from the Book of Daniel is about (Matt.24; Dan.11; Dan.9:27).
4.Many peoples from many nations worship her
Rev.13:5-8 reveals the "dragon" will be given power over "all kindreds, and tongues, and nations". Thus it's hard to actually miss that fact of Revelation that the future beast kingdom for the end will be over all nations and peoples upon this earth, with its center of control at Jerusalem, because that is where that beast king is coming to sit in the temple of God, and proclaim himself as God, and over that is called God, or that is worshiped (2 Thess.2:4). The Daniel 2 Scripture reveals this also, as once again, all the previous beast kingdoms are represented as being 'together' when Christ (the "stone") smites it upon its feet of ten toes of part clay mixed with part iron.
The whole is pointing to today's globalist ideal of a "one world government" (their words, not mine).
5.All nations deceived by her sorcery
The Greek word for "sorcery" in Revelation is where our English word for pharmaceutical comes from. Sorcery is about the practice of abusing drugs to induce occultic mind altering states, (i.e., ideas like a witch's brew). All nations have this problem of drug abuse pushed upon them by the various unseen drug cultures.
The new Jerusalem is labeled the "great city" in Rev.21:10, and the "great city" of Rev.11:8 is pointing DIRECTLY to Jerusalem in false worship state for the end (within the 6th trumpet - 2nd woe period).
This is shown in both Daniel 11 about the "vile person" who places the abomination that maketh desolate (an idol) in Jerusalem, and also in Rev.13 about the dragon who blasphemes God and those in Heaven. The Book of Daniel and our Lord Jesus in Matt.24 showed that "abomination of desolation" event is done by the same one who blasphemes God in Jerusalem at the end.
8.Similar to former (original) Babylon
It is to represent the falseness of Babylon with pointing to Jerusalem when the pseudo-Christ arrives there. It is not about those events happening in geographical Babylon, but in a place that becomes SPIRITUAL Babylon. And that is what Revelation and Daniel and our Lord Jesus' Olivet Discourse is pointing to for Jerusalem at the end of this world prior to His 2nd coming. We are given a direct clue as to that fallen spiritual state for Jerusalem in the Rev.11:8 verse when The LORD used Sodom and Egypt to SPIRITUALLY point to where our Lord Jesus was crucified, which was Jerusalem.
9.Located in a Wilderness/Desert
Obvious error. In no.15, PlainWord says it's located near a busy sea lane. Can't have it both ways, which that shows he only got these points from someone else trying to point away from Jerusalem about the end.
10.John did not seem to recognize her or her location
There's quite a few Bible prophecies Christ's Apostles still wondered about that didn't come to pass in their days, which were reserved only for the generation that will see the end, i.e., our generation. So that no.10 statement proves nothing against Jerusalem being the "great city" Babylon harlot for the end.
11.Kings of Earth fornicate (worship with) or serve her
And they are prophesied to do so, as the Rev.17 Scripture about the ten kings who rule "one hour" with the beast king does show, they give their power to the beast as written.
12.Makes war with the Lamb
Big error there. Judaism has certainly NEVER been allied with Christianity, but completely against it. Orthodox Judaism has been against Christianity since the days of the early disciples of Christ. Even Apostle Paul before Jesus converted him had a letter of authority from the Jews in Jerusalem to hunt down Christians, and bring them in chains to Jerusalem to be tried and executed. Once they discovered Paul himself had converted to Christ, they sought to murder him!
13.Kills Saints and Prophets
Jesus showed who's head all the blood of the prophets would be upon in the Matt.23 chapter, speaking that directly to the false Jews of the foreigner scribes and Pharisees (see John 8 also). Thus, that is about Jerusalem, not Rome, not New York, nor any other area Rev.18 was pointing to.
14.Beheads those who won’t convert
God's Word does not define Islam as the only one who does beheading. In the nation of France, some are wanting go back to use of the guillotine for terrorists. 1939 was the last time France used it.
France Announces it Will Use Guillotine on Terrorists - The Mideast Beast
15.Near a busy sea (shipping) lane
Error in attempting to make a symbolic metaphor about world commerce represent a literal sea port. Geographical Babylon is not near a sea port either. The idea Rev.18 is showing symbols of great world commerce with the idea of ships. It is a similar comparison to the rock island of Tyrus which was a literal sea port of great world commerce in its time. It represented the pagan trafficking of goods and slaves among the nations of that time. This is why the "merchants of the earth" are shown weeping for her in Rev.18. In Rev.18:13, "the souls of men" are included in her trade. And truly, when the "one world government" fully is manifest for the end, it will be a great system of world commerce for all nations, controlled from Jerusalem by the Antichrist.
16.Ships became rich from selling her “goods”
17.Merchants of the Earth weep at her demise
18.They mourn by throwing dust on their heads
All three of those are relative to the same subject of no.15 above, nothing new but just more fodder they've tried to create for their cause.
19.Will be attacked and destroyed by the 8th Kingdom who carries her
No Biblical connection to any 8th kingdom at all written. Per Dan.2, the final beast kingdom of the feet of ten toes will support all the previous beast kingdoms of history, and all will fall
together when Jesus comes to smite it upon its feet (Dan.2:35).
20.Will be utterly burned with fire (nuked?)
God's consuming fire is what is set to destroy man's works off this earth on "the day of the Lord". That was Peter's subject in 2 Pet.3:10, and the "sudden destruction" Paul mentioned in 1 Thess.5 in conjunction with the "day of the Lord" timing. It appears those PlainWord follows is not familiar with that part of God's Word about the "day of the Lord" events.
