Some scriptures on christians sinning:

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 (KJV)

[SUP]16 [/SUP]Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? [SUP]17 [/SUP]If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

1 Corinthians 6:18-20 (KJV)

[SUP]18 [/SUP]Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. [SUP]19 [/SUP]What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? [SUP]20 [/SUP]For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

1 Corinthians 8:12 (KJV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP]But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

James 1:13-16 (KJV)
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: [SUP]14 [/SUP]But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. [SUP]15 [/SUP]Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. [SUP]16 [/SUP]Do not err, my beloved brethren.

Hebrews 10:19-27 (NASB)
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, [SUP]20 [/SUP]by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, [SUP]21 [/SUP]and since we have a great priest over the house of God, [SUP]22 [/SUP]let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. [SUP]23 [/SUP]Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; [SUP]24 [/SUP]and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, [SUP]25 [/SUP]not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. [SUP]26[/SUP]For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, [SUP]27 [/SUP]but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY of a fire which will consume the adversaries.

Hebrews 12:1 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Revelation 18:4-5 (KJV)
[SUP]4 [/SUP]And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. [SUP]5 [/SUP]For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

BTW, all these scriptures are written to the church. Aaand, NONE of them are symbolic.

We are not Deists, God is active, He is active in bringing us under conviction when needed. It is then we need to confess.

a good point, very valid and important, cross....

like the scripture says, we are to walk in the Light'.

yesterday I was studying 'Prince', and he told his audience that the Holy Spirit doesn't convict people of sin,
but convicts people of their righteousness....

to us, this is blasphemous teaching and blatantly leading people away from Truth,
for a Christian MUST over-come sin....for we are to be like our Saviour and walk as He walked...
in our love, we set our hearts and goals on over-coming and being like him, for He is our Example...

This is the neo-gnosticism of new.modern.hyper grace that is taught with smooth deceitful words by wolves in sheep's clothing.

They teach that faith today is different than the faith that all godly men before the cross had. It's an identity faith that is defined by effectively denying the existence of the old nature and identifying only with the new spiritual nature that cannot be corrupted by evil, regardless of what the body does.

They may teach that it's not good to do sin, but they only mean that in the sense of its affect on a person's life in this world; it has no bearing on their salvation. Also, they give lip service to repentance and confession, but only to the confession of their own righteousness.

Sin to them is a symptom of a confused identity rather than their failure to overcome their sin nature through the power of the indwelling holy spirit.

Their beliefs are almost exactly what the gnostics of the early church period believed.

They are practiced at the art of deception and at twisting scripture to the point of absurdity to justify their doctrine.

The holy spirit witnesses to the truth. The heart convicts (impress with a sense of guilt) when wrong is done.

But whoever has the world’s material possessions and observes his brother in need and shuts his heart against him, how does the love of God reside in him? Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. And by this we know that we are of the truth and will convince our heart before him, because if our heart condemns us, because God is greater than our heart and knows all [things]. Dear friends, if our heart does not condemn [us], we have confidence before God, 1 John 3:17-21

Jesus is speaking about the Holy Spirit and He says that He will convict/convince "the world " ( you do know that believers are not OF the world once we come to Christ ) of sin - "because they ( the world ) do not believe in Me." verse 9

Verse 10 Jesus says ..and concerning righteousness because I go to the Father and you ( disciples and now us ) no longer see Me."

Notice the THEY in verse 9 and the YOU in verse 10...and as FreeNChjrist has said....show the New Covenant scriptures about the Holy Spirit convicting believers of sin.

I know this goes against religious upbringing and it has been said so long now that it has become a "sacred cow"...and when we hear something against our "sacred cows"..we want to defend them.....:)

John 16:8-11 (NASB)
[SUP]8 [/SUP] "And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;
[SUP]9 [/SUP] concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me;
[SUP]10 [/SUP] and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me;
[SUP]11 [/SUP] and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

So now you have added God condemning Christians as well. Such strange notions some people have about God.

Take out the "convict" and you will have it. To convict is to prove guilty. To rebuke is to express disapproval. Does God approve of sin? Never. Does God still hold Christians guilty for our sins? Never.

Such are the reasonings of those who follow a neo-gnostic spirit and ignore the clear reading of scripture to avoid upsetting cherished belief. Let's watch with bated breath to see how neo-gnostics will try to spin this.

Confession to God of wrongdoing is good for spiritual growth, but sinning doesn't break our relationship with Him. Sin is transgression of the Law - all of our sins - past, present, and future - were forgiven at the cross. The Law no longer has a hold on us. We can never be condemned or declared guilty. We are as righteous, holy, and perfect as Jesus is, because we have "put on" Christ. We have been cleansed as white as snow, and our sins can never be remembered again.

Convict in this context means to impress with a sense of guilt, which is what happens when the holy spirit rebukes a person for wrong behavior.

If all sin has been forgiven, what are you guilty of?

Why would God be impressing a sense of guilt upon those He has declared not guilty? Sounds more like the accuser of the brethren to me.

When God chastens, it is for correction, not punishment.

if our heart condemns us

G2607 καταγινώσκω kataginosko = "to know something against"... our heart knows when we do something wrong

Notice that even if our heart does " know something against us "..God comes in and reassures us ..God is greater then our heart and knows who we are in Christ despite our failure....this is what He witnesses to...God witnesses to the righteousness that is in Christ Jesus and we are in Him.

because if our heart condemns us, because God is greater than our heart and knows all [things].
