As singles, we can spend so much time pondering what a potential spouse should bring to the table. However, let's turn that idea on its head and examine exactly what we could offer a potential spouse.

“Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” ― John F. Kennedy

In the same vein, as JFK's quote, this thread isn't about what a potential spouse can and should do for us. This thread is about what we can offer a potential spouse.

1.) What could you offer a potential spouse?

Actually i think a lot about what, if anything, i have to offer. And what my shortcomings are. So i'm quite aware of both sides of the coin.

Love, support, companionship, and a help mate... All I'd ask in return is that she pay for everything and not complain about it :)

So... is this a thread to list your qualities? How do I do that without sounding as though I'm bragging about myself?

On the other hand, our pastor's wife has a saying: "He who tooteth his own horn, it shall be tooted." :D :D :D

I'm a nerd, with all the benefits and detriments that entails. I'm also a music nerd, which also has benefits and detriments. I have no debt and I maintain a Roth IRA. On the other hand I don't currently own my own house. I'm quiet (aside from a bit of singing at random) and when I do speak I usually wait until I have something to say. I'm a semi-pro listener and I seem to attract confidences from people who need to talk about something.

Well, that's that. Now what do I do? Sit back and wait for a girl to see it?

Love, loyalty, honesty, faithfulness. He has to plunge the toilet and kill spiders, though. :p

Hmm... I meant that post to be in a joking tone, but reading over it I find it looks more like I'm criticizing the OP. Please believe me that was not my intent.

Almost forgot that I own a property, a small lot in the memorial park.
Tinkerbell
Know in your heart
There is no need announcing what you own
For true love will love you for your heart...
Not property

We live in a world of google now
Which is helpful at times

But days are gone when a good hearted....but successfull person
Could pretend they had trailer....to find true love, ...not a gold digger!

But putting ALL in God
All your love
All your hurt

Will lead you to JOY to Heaven's promise is real!
In this sad money grubbin world!

Remember tinkerbell
Your heart...
In Christ....
Is what deserves love. ..

Never feel beautiful Christians
You are all about material things

For love takes patience

But yet
Patience
Leads you to the good ones
In God

Be strong singles
Wait for Love....not for money!

My prayers for ALL you singles!

Be alone
Before being used!

God is with you!

On serious note (and because I really respect Proverbs 35--she always has interesting insights), I have to echo Lynx's thought that it's hard to list your qualities without sounding like a glossy advertisement--or like everyone else (just like writing a dating profile.)

I think I would enjoy lavishing someone with love, but it would include:

* Honesty (I won't always tell you what you want to hear, but what I really think.)
* Adventure ("Hey, instead of rearranging our sock drawer today, let's check out someplace new instead!")
* Loyalty (but I'll be honest if I disagree with you.)
* Responsibility ("Please put down that $600 golf club! We can't afford it just yet!")
* Humor ("You think you can get away with that???!! Don't make me laugh!!!")

Yup. I'm pretty sure this list should catch me a man any day now... :D

Patience, understanding and sensitivity, good with money even when there isn't much, not a nag, helpful where needed and willing to put what I want aside for something more important. Putting God first each day is top priority. Enjoy cooking. Also love camping and fishing, horses, yard work, and mechanical stuff.

Hmmm....this feels like a dating site quality announcement. How about I do not believe I will ever remarry as I cannot see myself trusting a man enough to marry again. So I have no worries.
