No doubt our (so. cal) gas bills will increase thanks to SoCal Gas ineptness...pass the loss onto the consumer.

That's the way it usually works don't it? If they pass climate change legislation who do you think will pay the bill for them to "fix" what they created? LOL Everything under the sun has been taxed by greedy men, the air we breath is the next thing to be taxed. :)

But, but in earlier reporting the utility company claimed scientists said the gas was not that toxic.

Quote from OP article....
Residents have been complaining of nausea, headaches and other symptoms, but the utility company says that "scientists agree natural gas is not toxic and that its odorant is harmless at the minute levels at which it is added to natural gas".
I guess they failed to mention that radon is deadly. This kinda sounds like that EPA mining spill into the Colorado river where scientists said all those heavy metals and arsenic are not going to effect the water quality that much either.

Customers Concerned Over Rising SoCal Gas Bills; Company Responds | KTLA

“As Southern California Gas Co. works to stop a massive natural gas leak above Porter Ranch, the company’s customers elsewhere in the region have taken to social media to complain about their high bills.

Residents in Huntington Beach have been posting on a community Facebook page about bills that have doubled, and in some cases climbed four, five or six times higher than what they say is normal.

And Huntington Beach customers do not appear to be the only ones affected. Residents in Chino, La Crescenta, Granada Hills, Corona and other parts of Los Angeles have contacted KTLA about gas bills that they say are much higher than normal.”

Hmmm.

Wow the article said...
Rep. Brad Sherman, U.S. House of Representatives, Jan 21, 2016 (at 17:45): “This the largest natural gas leak in history. We were up there yesterday… what we heard was a loud sound of natural gas escaping that you could hear quite loudly from over half a mile away.”
They could hear it quite loudly over a half mile away. Yikes!

Experts: Formaldehyde is spewing from massive LA gas leak — “Very dangerous for public”… methane turning into embalming fluid — Can make your body “start digesting itself” — Company knows this is happen

“When all that methane is exposed to California sunshine it gets converted to formaldehyde. The nosebleeds, headaches etc. aren’t from the “odorant”… they are signs of formaldehyde exposure… These same symptoms are seen in people living near gas compressor stations due to leaking methane being converted… Obviously, this is something SoCal doesn’t want to talk about or you to know about.”

Well look at the bright side, when people start dropping like flies they won't have to worry about embalming them. :)
