Sadly, unless there is present abuse, neglect, openly violent behavior that puts someone in jeopardy, or illegal issues, there is nothing that the local police can do. Actually, I applaud the fact that you want to protect and guard against this narcotic, however, what about his immediate family and their response to him? Surely, they know the facts, and more by now. If you have witnessed any of the above actions, I would let your immediate family know and discuss this with them also. If your friend's security is in harm's way, you have no choice but to report this, although you may get lots of rebuttal. As a Christian, the power of prayer is always a soothing way to navigate through this, for your own sanity and GOD's unique touch on the situation. It is not that you are a snitch, it is the fact that you are genuinely concerned as a friend. The father will only spiral into a more complicated and deeper hole if he does not seek help himself. Another way to approach this is pure caution, keeping all eyes and ears open and pushing his family to take their own stand instead of leaving it to a teenage friend. God bless you for your concern. Who knows, you may be on a journey that will take you to the place that GOD would have you to serve mankind as His representative....GOD knows your heart and can open doors for you to have a specific calling....one that will benefit mankind such as a mediator, counselor, operating a rehab, medical drug technician...the list is unlimited. Think and pray about it.
