If we are praying in tongues, we are speaking to God and mot to the congregation. He knows what is being said. No interpretation is necessary, unless you want to know what the Spirit is saying, in which case you just ask God.

Post #42 clearly outlines that there is a subsequent "experience " with the Holy Spirit if one is open to Him... ( sometimes the terms used and their meaning can throw us off from understanding what is being said )

..do you pray in tongues every day to your Father?..it's a great blessing!..

.we speak mysteries in the spirit to Him..we edify ( we build ourselves up ) ourselves...pray for saints according to the will of God....we give thanks and bless Him....we speak of His wondrous ways and deeds...

It also "tames" the tongue which can set things on "fire" as James says...

...it doesn't make one any more "saved"...it is just a blessing from our Lord for us to speak to Him supernaturally by our spirit and not our minds ( which can be confused sometimes and of course we are severely limited by our own natural thoughts....I know mine is for sure sometimes.....lol )

I wouldn't let someone else's misuse of a blessing from God stop me from wanting it from the Lord. Mis-use does not mean non-use...it just means "proper use ".

I encourage everyone to be open to the things that the Lord has for us...He is a good loving Father and Lord to us and has "good things" to give t to His children whom He loves pasiionately...

Are you under the impression that you are infallible? I am not going to entertain your error in understanding. I was baptized with the spirit the second I came to Christ. You do not have more Holy Spirit than me. Tongues is a not special gift and it is NOT liked to baptism in the spirit!!
It is A GIFT and no more special or relevant to the body of Christ than all the other gifts.

My thoughts on private prayer tongues is this: After hearing many, it sounds like the same actual articulation and phonetical words..I believe the actual language used is the pure, unadulterated language spoken by Adam up to the pre tower of Babel event, before confusion and separation of language occurred. It is just my personal theory.

That does not answer my question...........

And if you are praying in tongues that is to be done by yourself, there is absolutely no biblical backing for babbling weird noises out loud in front of others. Praying does not make an exception to this, as it clearly says do not do it in front of others as you will cause a stumbling block and damage their conscious !!!

The only tongues done in front of others is actually human languages, not some out loud weird babbling !!!

have you seen a "big" healing? someone who's never walked, jumping around?

there's plenty of veterans coming back from the middle east missing arms or legs...

any reports of an arm cut off just below the shoulder growing back? or both legs above the knee returning?

if things like this are happening, I'm interested in knowing which group I can get together with to experience them.

I can understand that if someone spoke in tongues, that would indicate that they had been baptized by the holy spirit.

could you have been baptized by the holy spirit earlier, and just not spoken in tongues until that time?

We worship in tongues, too. That is in a corporate setting. The Body of Christ doesn't train or strain their ears to hear the worship of others when they are to be joining in in worship of the Lord, themselves. When people pray corporately, often one will pray in tongues. Sometimes the leader will ask the people to join in tongues together in prayer. It is unfair to call it babbling and weird noises. In fact, it is inflammatory to the Holy Spirit to use those tetms to describe one of His manifestations. You are your own stumbling block, in this instance.

I believe I was baptized in the Holy Spirit at age 19 or 20, as I said earlier.After that,I experienced much spiritual opposition and struggled immensely until age 22 when I completely submitted to the Lord and His will for me. He revisited me with a further anointing plus tingues in answer to my earnest orayer some 20 years after that. There is most definitely a huge difference between just being saved and being empowered.

The problem is I am not labeling one of His manifestations because babbling weird noises out loud is not one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

It is either one of two..............

Known human tongues that is used to edify one another in the body...

or...

It is a prayer language of the angels that is only to be done in private as it edifies only self.......

There is no other tongues mentioned in God's word and we should not go willy nilly and need to be careful in labeling things as from the Holy Spirit when God's word does not mention it as such !!!

The bible clearly says what the gifts of the Holy Spirit are how they are ministered, so thus if what is being done is not mentioned in scripture and not done in the proper way it is not of the Holy Spirit !!!

Again if you are making noises out loud from your mouth in front of others including in congregational setting, and nobody is around to interpret what is being said then it is wrong to do it !!!!

Being during worship service does not make any exception to this.................

I am waiting for the answer on this one because a person can not be born again if they haven't been baptized by the Holy Spirit !!!

Absolutely! Countless born again dear sisters and brothers in Christ have not experienced or even known about the baptism of the Holy Spirit. That doesn't make them not saved or even second-class citizens of heaven, as some people think.

The baptism serves to anoint and empower the believer so that as he does the will of God, he will have more ease and success and less striving.

That is what I though you would say and that is wrong.........

You can't be born again unless you have been baptized by the Holy Spirit, it is not a separate event that comes later.

I think you have the baptism and the being gifts as of by fire confused with one another, as when a person is baptized with the Holy Spirit that is when they are born again.

It says it all right there that a person has to be born again of the water and Spirit (baptism of the Holy Spirit), as the born of the Spirit here is speaking of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. That is when a person is born again !!!

I've only witnessed languages and never weird noises or babbling. You are pretty worked up about this, and there is no need for it.

Yes there is need for this because charismatic churches think the out loud babbling of weird noises they do is the gift of tongues from the Holy Spirit.

It is not and needs to be properly shown what that gift of tongues really are, and then also how they are ministered or done also needs to be taken into account because that also gets abused.

If I am setting in your church and you happen to be praying out loud in Chinese and nobody was around to interpret what you where saying then you would be in the wrong. Why ???

Because I don't speak Chinese and would have no clue what you are saying and thus your speaking out loud would have no beneficial edification for me which is what the gifts are for.

The only one that is for self edification is one that is done in prayer, and that prayer is to be done in private not openly in front of others !!!
