So how do we "Obey" Him..by keeping His commandments which are these..

1 John 3:23 (NASB)
[SUP]23 [/SUP] This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.

That is why our Lord is the author of eternal salvation for us!...we as believers do the above...because we have His Spirit in us.

Here we go again..................

You do realize by keeping and obeying these two commandments the others will be kept and done as well ???

However,

2 Peter 1:10
10 Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;

There is no self-effort in this verse?
I think the main problem is they don't know the difference between self works (done before Christ) rather good or bad, and that of works of the faith (things we do in Christ, what He said and commanded).

Good works before Christ is what is called filthy rags, because anything done outside of Christ is useless !!!

Of course you have to agree with God..that's what confession means in greek..to say the same thing..which could be about sin or about who we are in Christ..whatever..we repent constantly every time we find out something new about the Lord...

Where in the world would you get the idea that people don't have to agree with God..?
I said I agreed with you, why did you make the assertion that I believe "people don't have to agree with God." The point I was making was is that you had to make a conscious decision, God did not make this decision for you. You making that decision was all you (except for God working behind the scenes, which God does for everyone), you saw your guilt and responded to the Grace given to you.

Yes, and Paul says we are saved unto good works, we are saved so we can do these works in Christ.

I got it from this statement.. " So you admit YOU have to agree with God"

it looked like you were implying that I do not admit anything to God..lol

Ok..so God grants the repentance.....so it starts with Him.. but of course you make a conscious decision...how could you not make one?..I don't have a clue what you are trying to say..sorry...maybe it's just late..but I fail to see your point....sorry..

So, you do admit YOU have to believe what Jesus said?..I can agree with that too.

This a profound statement made by Jesus, wouldn't you say?

Luke 19:40
39 And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.”
40 But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”

So God repents for you? I'm saying God granted you the freewill to accept forgiveness of your sins through Christ. Agreeing with God is an active decision on your part, while God acts/works around you to bring you to that point. He woos us like a husband woos his wife.

Jesus said "Go into all preach the gospel..in Jerusalem first..then Samaria.."....did you do that?....have you got to Jerusalem yet to start preaching?...that is His command as you put it....if not that can be viewed as not "obeying" Jesus..and now you are disobedient ....

We need to rightly divide the word.

What about the command to take the Gospel to the world, for starters.

This response right here shows you don't understand, just because the words "command" or "commandment" are not mentioned in a scripture does not mean it isn't one.

Did you know that Jesus actually gave 50 commands ???

Apostle Paul explains it clearly in Romans 13:9-10....................

BTW..did you get those quotes with the post #'s yet that say I don't acknowledge sin at all like you said in the other thread..I asked you to prove it...I noticed you haven't responded....please do so...thanks

I don't keep tabs on people because we are not suppose to hold things over on others, however we are to admit to our faults and wrong things we have said. I would think you would admit to the truth since you are in Christ, rather then deflect !!!

God gives us repentance.

Acts 11:18 (KJV)
[SUP]18 [/SUP] When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

2 Timothy 2:25 (NASB)
[SUP]25 [/SUP] with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,

Yes..thank God for His great love and He does woo us..I have been wooed and will continued to be wooed by Him for all eternity!..What a great thought!

preaching the Gospel to Jerusalem first has already been accomplished. This command was given directly to the apostles, but I think it also applies to Church in general, as long as I'm participating and supporting the spread of the Gospel, I'm being obedient.

See..here is where you bring "works" in kennethc... by "adding" commands to "maintain " salvation..it's your religious views. that does that..

So, in other words you have no proof of your accusation about me not acknowledging to God I have sinned when I do sin......did you want to go back and say you don't have any proof..?...

God granted repentance because Jews and Gentiles alike can have that repentance by placing their faith in Christ.....

When faith is established from hearing the Word of God and we confess our sins to Him we are given remission of them, there are steps that have to be taken else wise all people including unbelievers are forgiven of sins.

So, we do have to rightly divide the truth..but in essence YOU have not obeyed Jesus command....so you have made up a reason why you are "obeying" His command even though you aren't actually following His words...just the intent..right?..we need to do the same for all scriptures.

The only reason he granted us this repentance is because He sent His son. No son, no repentance. I don't believe your interpretation of this verse is correct. If what you say is true, why doesn't God save everyone, it is clearly His will that everyone come to the full knowledge of Christ.

1 Timothy 2
2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

I've got to go, check yah out later.
