... Am I right? Riiiiight? Faaaavoooriiiiitte? NO. OF COURSE NOT. But like it or not, in a few, short weeks...

So what are your Singles Awareness Day (S.A.D.) plans?

I personally opt to go into Walmart the day after and get me some on-sale dark chocolate and fancy roses... because I'm fabulous. All by myself. xD

Hmm, despite being seemingly endlessly single I actually like Valentine's Day. Has an actually fairly strong backing in Christian history (Saint Valentine). And then as you allude to, there's cheap chocolate to be had and as a consolation I don't have share it lol.

I suppose I will write a cheesy poem to my secret crush lol.

Even cheaper if you wait until the 15th, like she said. :)

My mom and stepdad got a divorce back in late 2012. It was his decision, she didn't want it. Anyways, that first Valentine's Day (2013) after the divorce, my brother and I took her out to dinner and got her flowers. We continued doing this for three years now. So I'm guessing that's what we'll be doing this year too. We don't want her to feel bad on that day because of the divorce.

But she usually has a great time. She's a strong lady! It also helps my brother and I feel better that we at least have family to celebrate it with. My brother has been hurt in the past by exes as have I once. So it's good to spend it with family. ;)

I wanted to add that Vday doesn't have to be just about romantic love. I think it's a celebration of love in general: God's love for us, our love for Him, family love, friendship love...etc. If you don't have a romantic relationship, it's okay. You can celebrate all the other kinds of love this life has to offer!

I will bask in the knowledge that I didn't have to spend a load of money on flowers, chocolate, an extra special dinner and a card.

i have a valentine this year  we won't be celebrating on the 14th because it's a sunday, and i have church activities.

idk what we're doing yet :D

i actually prefer the spanish name for the 14th - "dia del amor y amistad" - day of love and friendship.

And here I thought our favorite time of year was going to be tax season or else the time when all the bills for Christmas overspending come.

Valentines day is easy to cope with. I pick out several guys who are friends of mine and could use some encouragement. I write them little notes letting them know what awesome guys they are. They say thank you and it makes V-day better for me that I could make it better for them. (now ladies don't you all steal my idea :p ).

That's what I'm going to do. Focus on God's love for us and share it with others. That's the only love that really truly matters anyway.

One year, our church youth group was selling roses as a fund raiser, and they were the really nice kind that came with their own little individual vials of water, so I bought a dozen and handed them out to all the single people I worked with.

One of the girls (who would frequently tell us all about her fiance) was REALLY miffed. EVERY time she saw me hand out a rose she would say, very loudly, "I didn't know Valentine's Day was about discrimination! How come the rest of us don't get a flower!" I just laughed and smiled and told her she had her fiance to take care of that!!

One of the guys I gave a flower to teased me that this girl was going to be waiting for me with an ambush of married people after work... "Get the flower-giver!!"

Who knew Single Awareness Day could be so dangerous!! But the money for the flowers went to a good cause and the single people really seemed to like them--some of the guys seemed a bit apprehensive though... I wanted to say, "It's just a rose, not a marriage proposal!" :p Lucky for them, I left my "Just In Case" emergency wedding dress at home that day.

I'm going to give out Rugrats VDay cards and those candy hearts with messages on them.
Is there any other way to do Valentine's Day?

Oh man, I gotta admit, some of the Valentine packs they come out with these days are pretty sweet. And now days they even come with little prizes, like pencils or erasers or stickers!!! Too cool!!!

I would seriously buy a pack and send them out to any CC peeps who trusted me with their address.

However... I'd have a hard time deciding between Spiderman and Hello Kitty... and I might get a little mixed up as to who gets what. :p
