Look this always comes down to people who believe we are under the law and those that know we are under grace ...ask any of these people that are speaking against grace and they will tell you they think they are under parts of the Old Testament law...

Namely the Ten Commandments

It's funny. Looking at that picture, I was thinking of one other group (which I could well be a part of) thinking, "You mean I made it?"

I don't think that KennethC was saying that we are sinless. Sinless perfection is sad heresy like hyper-grace that many in the church are beginning to believe which is not scriptural. Due to our flesh bodies, we will never be completely sinless. God is just looking for a heart purposed for Him and to find us doing His will. We haven't been glorified yet... the end result of our race of faith which is our lifelong Sanctification Process. Let us run so as to win that prize :)

KennethC, you brought up that this topic detracts from the usual OSAS discussions.
I would say that it continues the OSAS discussions, because Hyper-Grace relies on OSAS for many arguments and on many levels. To truly combat hyper-grace, one needs to deal with the error of OSAS and work from there.

God's grace abounds indeed! When we turn to God and repent for our sin, it is His grace that Jesus, our one Advocate and Mediator is good to forgive us our sins! This is why His sacrifice at the cross and His blood removed our past sins and keeps us from the power of current and future sins when we repent! The problem is that God's message of grace isn't new and is clearly shown in the scriptures. How much more abounding is God's grace that He accepts us back with open arms as we turn from our sins committed and return to Him as we repent? This is an amazing depiction of His grace.

We deal now with grace as the "modern" church has re-envisioned it as this new "hyper-grace." God's grace is abounding yes, but when we look at Hyper-Grace supported by OSAS, we have a new doctrine of "grace." Hyper-Grace takes elements of the grace God gives us in the bible and shores it up with some doctrines of man. It mixes truth with some leaven and as a result we have a more subtle error entering our understanding of doctrine. It uses many words that are correct, but at the core premise we have an issue as it denies once again the scriptures showing our necessity to repent.

License to sin? This is another faulty argument based on the belief that sin has no consequences. For the believer and the unbeliever, sin does have consequences. Since God loves us, He must be just. God's grace shows us the necessity to repent to the Lord for sins committed after salvation! The reason why the license to sin argument keeps on being brought up is that may people keep saying that there are no serious consequences for sin after salvation. People keep on saying that we do not need to repent for forgiveness of our sins after salvation. The fact that our Mediator and Advocate does forgive us our sins when we repent as His children shows us how amazing God's grace is!

Can we move to now stop using the term hyper-grace? Instead, let us return to the grace stated in the bible and work from there? Hyper-grace has been shown to be "tainted" with odd doctrine. I know people on both sides of the issue don't like the term hyper-grace/greasy grace, so let us just call God's grace... grace.

Do you believe we are under the Ten Commandments?

Who are you speaking to, if you are going to accuse somebody it would be better to say who you are trying to speak on instead of make blanket statements which is the same as bearing false witness because you absolutely provide no proof to your claim !!!

Do you believe we are under the Ten Commandments?

Do you believe we are under the Ten Commandments?

I believe that the two commandments that Jesus gave us encompass the ten commandments (and all the commandments given).

The Ritual and Ceremonial Law have been fulfilled and written into our hearts and minds. They now apply spiritually. We don't have to look at the ritual law and say don't touch this or eat this, but now we look at what is spiritually clean and unclean. So now what is spiritually unclean, God calls us not to partake in.
The Moral Law is in effect today as it always has been.

WHAT?????? Are you suggesting we abandon the "labeling" so many of us LIVE for?
(Oh, sorry.... OSAS is a label, isn't it?)

I don't believe that we are under the law of Moses at all.

lol....hurry up and take your time brother..we will wait for you..

I apologize I'm a slow typer on a slow tablet. I submit a question and find 3 answers already posted. I try to keep up, but am not IT savvy like some ppl here who've spent years on computers. This is still fairly new to me. I really want to interact, I know I don't know much about much, but feel like I may have a little bit to contribute, and I do have honest questions and much to learn, I'm not just trying to 'trap' ppl, (always, ;)), I honestly AM wanting to learn, but I do have a certain way I look at this debate, although I think I could argue both sides of it, not to be double-minded, but just because some of these things aren't crystal clear to me all the time. I do know Jesus said 'Go and sin no more', I also believe they, (and we all) did. And do. And I'm trying to reconcile that with God's grace and obedience and salvation/eternal security.
Sorry if I seem to interrupt a thread, am just trying to be a part of the discussion. Maybe a second tablet would help so I could read and write at the same time. This one post took me 20 minutes, and by the time I hit the submit button, the threads liable to be closed. Lol.

Thank you and yes I do not agree with a "sinless perfection" doctrine as that is a false doctrine.

Nowhere have I ever stated a sinless stance in order to get salvation, nor have I ever defended the 613 written ordinances of the Mosaic law. These are two lies that constantly get placed on me by either the OSAS or Grace only crowd because they can not actually refute the biblical supported stance I put forward.

Therefore they have to spread lies to try and discredit me, that sounds a lot like the spirit of anti-christ !!!

I brought up the distraction from OSAS as a joke because in reality it is actually just another form of it, another doctrine derived off of another.

The problem I have with OSAS or Hyper-grace is that both of them take away or change the scriptures speaking on eternal consequences and force them all to only be earthly physical in the flesh consequences. That is a major flaw and is in away excusing sin because they take and act as if they won't have to answer for their sinful deeds !!!

Sorry for using the term again in my response, and I guess then what we need to say then is a false version of His grace !!!

2Co 3:7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in
glory.

2Co 3:14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

Here is why some cant understand the power of grace...

So you believe we are under the Ten Commandments?...right? Just parts of the law...not all of it ..right?

Read Romans 3:31 and Romans 13:9-10..............

Neither one of those from Paul say the 10 Commandments were done away or abolished, they both say they are established and upheld in our lives by love; Thus fulfilled !!!!

You see, that's another one of those misconceptions against grace preachers, or hyper-grace theology. The need to repent, you are saying that they are saying we don't have to repent when they stress repentance. Only such repentance is achieved through a different means. Its called a renewal of the mind and our old man being crucified. The reality of us being new creations and partaking in Jesus' death and resurrection (symbolized in baptism). Also known as being dead to sin and alive unto God.

God's grace isn't a license to sin and anyone trying to justify their sins by using God's grace as a scapegoat do not understand it. God's grace sets us free from sin's dominion.

WHAT?????? Are you suggesting we abandon the "labeling" so many of us LIVE for?
(Oh, sorry.... OSAS is a label, isn't it?)

Is this being facetious? Just checking. I would hope that nobody who proclaims and confesses Christ would live for a "label"

So you believe we are under the Ten Commandments?...right? Just parts of the law...not all of it ..right?

So if we look at what I said again, the Law/Old Covenant is written into our heart and mind. It is the shadow and type of the new covenant and the substance of which is fulfilled in Christ. Are we under the 10 commandments? We are under the Two that Jesus gave us, which really includes the 10. The Law applies spiritually now. We have the spiritual application of the ritual and ceremonial law now, not by the letter.

See the big word written there ???

The written was done away, not the moral/spiritual !!!

I love that verse..that are saved = passive = which means it is happening to you - not you doing it..no working on our part again..

(I posted a direct quote from scripture) .....
Of course he was empowered by God ...and had no confidence in his own ability .... Yes its called the foolishness of the cross ..

2Co 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

1Co 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

See the big word written there ???

The written was done away, not the moral/spiritual !!!

That's the Ten Commandments ...the condemnation ministered by the written standard of the Ten commandments ...

Ro 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
7 ¶ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

So your saying the ten commandments cannot condemn us? If it cant condemn ..why confess if the law cannot cannot make a charge?
