1. Home, which is the incorrect answer but my best guess.
2. My best guess is a large, predatory fish.
3. Silence, or an emo teenager when the trash needs to be taken out.
Yes to two, but not the number. Read again, and give it a ponder...

My first thoughts were a book, your temper, and an echo. But then I read the rest of the responses and now I'm sure #2 is your tongue.

Okay...Coward...Like Cowardly Lion? So COURAGE or you're hinting at me...FAINTING, as in the slight odor will make me rise again!
So what's the answer??
Ok nevermind I looked it up... and as I suspected, it does not fit the question. (It does not live in dark caves and afaik distant sounds are not the type of thing that will trigger it)

afaik = as far as I know

Actually, Zero, it's a play on words, as a single word can have multiple meanings, so in this case, the riddle utilizes a multiplicity of meanings for the same English word.

I'd prefer not to give them away, as the point of parables, analogies, metaphors, similes, riddles, and the like..are to make you think, process, and ultimately come a deeper/greater understanding and ownership of something. If you're insistent, however, I can pm you the answers. I can also explain if they don't seem to make sense. Jesus is actually the perfect example of this model, both in usage and relation.

Now, that being, another example of this case and point:

"Catch a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime."

A third challenge of wit, thought one's wit may be challenged. Just ponder a bit... they're all drops in a gallon:

1. I am made by someone who does not need me;
needed by someone who cannot buy me;
and bought by someone who will not use me.
What am I?

2. I only live where light is found, for in the darkness I would drown,
but should you shine the light on me, you'd watch me die or least-wise flee.
What am I?

3. Fill my hunger, and I'll survive; but quench my thirst, and I will die.
What am I?

Seems to me:

1. Peace?
2. Shadow
3. Fire

2 & 3 are easy ones heard similar ones towards though. Admittedly not sure on #1 was thinking could be Freedom or Wealth/Prosperity/Money also.

Haven't looked up the answer yet, but I am about to since what I lack for riddle games is what doctors desire most (lol pun riddle on patients/patience :p )

And I just saw the answer to #1. Wow, good riddle, stumped me. Lol as a punning hint to the others, perhaps I'd ask a doctor after all to solve it lol :)
