There is a gift of faith as well but probably not what you were looking for in your OP.....that's one of the gifts of the Spirit ..sounds like mostly for miraculous miracles..1 Cor 12:9

Eeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrvccccchhhh. You were answering your own question there for awhile, then you lost me or did you get lost.. good verses. Just not sure if one " not meaning you of course" anyway if one needs to ask then did they really become saved in the first place? Guess that's between them & God. I know when I was saved Jesus was there holding me next to God thru his salvation because I felt it., Sputz
I asked because I thought someone might shed some light on It, making It a discussion.:)

It's our faith. I have no idea what supernatural faith is.
When I say a human type faith,I'm talking about a person believing, based on sensory knowledge (five senses)see, taste, hear, smell and feel.

When I say supernatural,I'm talking about the faith of CHRIST(JESUS)

God is supernatural- His nature is super. God is love- therefore love is supernatural- it is not the natural human response. "My enemy just harmed me intentionally. Here let me respond with love and forgiveness." The response of love, or faith, or any of the other fruits of the Spirit, do not come from us, but from the Holy Spirit inside of us Who is changing our nature to be like His.

So, yeah, there is only a supernatural faith- it comes from God, not of ourselves. It comes through obedient hearts who give up the worldly nature for Godly nature.

I wanted to ask a question about faith.
When we were reborn, did we use a natural faith,a supernatural faith,or both natural faith and supernatural faith?
Fantastic question

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven."
Matt 16:16-17

Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit."
John 3:5-6

Our sin comes from a lack of communion with God.
Jesus unwraps that relationship that is supernatural.
The Words of God work both in our minds and our spiritual nature.
We live with a supernatural Holy Spirit

So things are both natural, and supernatural, working together.

Where does the faith we need to be born again come from?:)

In your opinion, what did JESUS mean when he said "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed"?:)
To me it means that it is not the greatness of our faith, but the greatness of our God.

I didn't know the best way to describe It,so I called It a human type of believing,I guess It could be called "mental assent"

That's a great question, and a great question to open a can of worms. I was reading something today along the same lines about repentance. I think it's abundantly clear we are responsible for making a choice, a proper response to the Holy Spirit. Might do a thread about something similar, though not feeling quite that sadistic, at the moment.

it's interesting about that verse that says "size" of a mustard seed...the word "size" is not in the original greek..the word means " grain " or "kernel"...talking about the "type" of plant it was...not necessarily the size...but apparently "size does not matter".....as the mustard plant became in time who it already was inside of it and became big!!

I heard a teaching one time that stuck out in my mind to do with this mustard seed thing....it was relating to the mustard seed just being itself and growing into what it already is..( it's faith was in the knowledge of what it actually was despite what it "appeared" to be )..and then the teaching went on to talk about us in Christ and how we grow..if interested I can find it for ya'...

Man is created with response-ability. That response-ability is what the bible calls ‘faith’. God initiates and solicits our response, and the response He solicits is always that of faith.

Amen!..the gospel does not demand fait..it supplies it...when we hear of Jesus....faith is our response to the word of Christ.

Romans 10:17 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

Does faith come by hearing the gospel?
Romans 10:17

"Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ."
