I'm sure there are probably threads out there about this SAME topic, but I couldn't find 'em.

Anyways, Matthew 7:21 says: "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven..."

And Romans 10:13 says: "for 'everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'"

So on the surface, these verses seem to completely contradict each other, right? My guess is that meaning of "calling on the name of the Lord" is where I'm going to find the solution.

Rom 10 are people calling on the name of the lord to be saved.

Matt 7 are people who tried to get to heaven by all their great works, they did in the name of the lord. they never actually called out to him to be saved.

Matt 7 is speaking of those who have a false assurance of eternal life.
They have placed their faith in what they have done, not in Christ.
Their trusted is in their baptism, church membership, the keeping of the commandments etc.
They have trusted in self and their ability make themself righteous before by what they have done.
They reject the fact that all their works are as filthy rags.
They reject the fact that their only hope is to be covered by the blood of Jesus when they stand before the Father.
They reject that salvation is totally in Christ. The only thing they are required to do is BELIEVE.

Mt 7:21 starts off here...

Matthew 7:15 KJVS
[15] Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

And it also written to do not use the Lord your God name in vain. Some people calls on the name of the Lord just for their own benefits, but still not believing in Him. Jesus is the Grace of God and if you admit or you can say confess that you are not worthy to be a part of Him from your heart, but not from the mouth, then He will put rings on your fingers and put robe over you that covers your sin that He will not see no more, and bring out the fattened calf. When you does that, that you are repenting like the people of Nineveh had done by being humble.

The difference being are those who truly call on the Lord in the spirit of sincerity and truth from a pure heart, not as those who just give lip service but their hearts are truly far from the Lord.

2 Timothy 2:22
Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

In Matt 7:19-23..Jesus said "I never knew you "...these people were not believers.....everyone when they see Jesus will call Him Lord.....Jesus is Lord whether they receive Him as such or not but when they do see Him...they will all call Him Lord!

John 10:14 (KJV)

Yes. The false prophets lead unsuspecting people into a false assurance.
It is not his apperance or his great presentation or how convincing or how famous/popular he is.
Listen very carefully what he is saying.
NEVER believe a teacher until you prove what he teaches by the WORD.
