Today is bench press day.

Yesterday was a rest day. But I did cardio and stretching. Stretching 5 days a week. Cardio 3 days a week.

I try to get cardio in on my arm days or rest days. I just don't feel like it after squat and deadlift days...

I switched from a steady state bike ride for 30 min to high intensity intervals. The high intensity lasts about a minute and then I just coast at 13-15mph for a few minutes then do the high intensity again. The first time I did it for only 10 min. Yesterday was 15min. I'm trying to get up to 30 min. But I don't think I will do more than that.

When I am out of town I have access to a gym (snap fitness) through the hotel we stay at, for free. I would rather work out at home but at least its something.

So I went to the gym on squat day. Everyone had their headphones in and they were being really quiet. So I tried to be really quiet too. I was doing really good until I got to the bathroom to change into my shorts. I thought the door was going to be a little harder to open than it really was, so it crashed really loudly against the wall.

Then, when I was on the leg extension machine, I like to kind of kick the weight up at the end to make it weightless and then bring it back down. Well the machine had a stop on it that I didn't know about and it made a loud crash...

I did the same thing with the leg curl machine...

I was like a bull in a china shop. And I'm never like that.

But when I got into the squat rack I just embraced it. I growl a little and let out lots of air at the top... So I just let her rip.

I had a big bushy beard and hair that should have been cut 3 months ago. I was grabbing my stuff out of the cubicle and a lady that didn't know I was there turned around and flinched. I laughed and told her sorry, I didn't mean to scare her...

I guess you just forget etiquette and fashion when you workout in your basement. When I got home I shaved the beard and mustache off and cut my hair. Maybe I will be less scary and loud next time...

Pictures! :D

I did 30 minutes of HIIT and then some box jumps.
You need a real workout like Crosscult....I mean Crossfit. They do burpies in the box and WOD (workout of the day), you also are encouraged to buy their whey protein supplements and follow a Paleo diet (because cave men didn't eat fruit). Soon you'll be wearing tight shorts and uploading photos of kipping pullups to your facebook. Yeah!

Hahahaha, you must have embarrassed yourself there! I can imagine how that would have left. :D

My trainer is not a fan of crossfit. He prefers the traditional workouts, involving free weights, machines and cardio. So far it has worked for me, so I am not sure I want to change my routine. :)

My fitness has not been at the desired level because work has gotten hectic, this month has been busy and I am feeling sluggish, physically.

Friday was a circuit:
Barbell squats - 5x5
Benchpress - 5x5
Deadlift - 5x5
Dumbbell shoulder press - 5x10

Saturday I did some cardio and seated calf raises. I am not sure I will workout today.

I lost about 50 lbs just avoiding drinking soft drinks/ processed fruit juices....you know the fake sugary stuff....Soda's are really bad for your kidneys (they contain phosphates that are bad for kidney stones and your bone density) and in general make your cells need higher and higher sugar levels /high to function or "feel awake." I drank at least 5-6 glasses (8oz) of water per day and lessen portions and amount of fat I consumed. I have to say my energy level is way better than when I was cramming junk food and sodas down the hatch....I don't feel sluggish anymore.

As far as workouts....
I run 1-2 miles on the treadmill, then do weights, wrist curls, and burst exercises such as running in place really fast to get my heart rate up and also jumping up and down (and also to work on leaping ability) to burn calories faster...

no fitness , no fitness and no more! hahha I think i did too much excessive fitness and now Im sick (I get chronic migraines) I bought these pushup bars did 150 in an hour - not proper posture or technique and then 180 the next day was tired the day after and got sick. I know what I need to do but it just was cool telling people about the doing large amount of pushups

No, not really embarassed.

I felt like the gym was trying to convert to women only and I hadn't gotten the memo.

Or maybe it was converting to metro-sexuals only, whatever that is, and I was just out of place.

They had a whole room just for free weights. But they moved it all out and put it in the corner by the cardio machines. Now that room is just for Crossfit and weird workout classes I guess.

Free weights must be going out of style in that town, I guess. All they have is a smith machine, a squat rack with too much space between the safety pin settings, and a leg press machine. I don't even know if you can really call it a squat rack. It only has 3 settings for the safety pins. The highest one looked like it would work for squats so thats what I used it for...

They do have hundreds of dumb bells though. So I guess people really like those...

Im kinda the endurance big project type like I use to walk for a few hours in a day and 200+ pushups in a day (this is for a really weak chick who hasnt buillt up her fitness so its a big thing for me) sound really fun I use to do leg exercises my really fit older brother was like no way! you can do that . But doing 1 hour on the treadmill and I dont know how to put but regular fitness doesnt sound as appealing to me, haha I want the exciting stuff! But unfortunately I have to keep it in balance with health issues at the moment. its a balance

Eh? That is strange. People are too obsessed with crossfit. Where are the old strongman and free weight workouts? Bring them back! Those workouts focussed on hypertrophy and functionality.

I hadn't worked out in a week or so, but got back into it last night with some heavy bag work, push-ups, curls, bench press. and abs. Sometimes it's nice to get back to the basics and not have to leave the house.

I did cardio yesterday... lol

This week is a de-load week. First time I've ever had one. Its not a week off, I found out. But its easier than the last three weeks.

Looks like about 1/2 the weight for the main exercise and then the same weight for the supporting exercises.

I'm so excited. My friend's brother is a personal trainer and he developed a workout plan for my friend and I to start following as a favor to her.

Tomorrow is Arms, Abs, and Cardio. (well, cardio is supposed to be everyday, but still)

That would be shineyourlights' favorite.

Cardio every day.

I told my 20yr old son that I was going for a 1hr walk today. He's in the marines. He said "What are you? A 60yr old woman?"

I said no, running is for 20 yr old marines. I bike ride and walk now.

He said "I'm going to get you a purse for your birthday".

I said I was going to call it a satchel... and be cool... lol
