Grace is unmerited favor. How doe's one obtain this grace? By faith in the work of the cross. Jesus said it is finished. Therefore there is no longer a work that a man can do to obtain this grace. Only by Faith in the finished work Of Jesus Christ can man obtain Grace and it is not a license to sin. In the words of Paul "shall we sin so that grace may abound. God forbid"

Heres a few scriptures which shows what grace is for as it speaks variously on it, but its for obedeince to the faith

John 1:14

And the Word was made flesh,
and dwelt among us,

(
and we beheld his glory,
the glory as of the only begotten of the Father
)
full of grace and truth.

John 1:16
And of his fulness have all we received,
and grace for grace.

Rom 1:5
By whom we have received grace and apostleship,

for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

Ye all are partakers of my grace

Ephes 3:7
Whereof I was made a minister,
according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me
by the effectual working of his power.

2 Cr 10:2
But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith
I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

2 Cr 10:3
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

2 Cr 10:4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal,
butmighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds
)

2 Cr 10:5
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

2 Cr 10:6
And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Again, the grace of God is given for the obedience to the faith

Rom 1:5
By whom
we have received grace and apostleship,
for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

Titus 2:11

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

This is what grace teaches,

Titus 2:12
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts,
we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world
.

Denying oneself in the above things (and below)

Romans 6:12
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Rom 6:14
For sin shall not have dominion over you
:
for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

2 Cr 6:1
We then, as workers together with him,
beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

Titus 2:14
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity,
and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works
.

Titus 2:15
These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority.
Let no man despise thee
.

Romans 8:13
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify
the deeds of
the body, ye shall live
.

Gal 5:16
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Gal 5:25
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Ephes 4:21
If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him,
as the truth is in Jesus
:

Ephes 4:22
That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man,
which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Ephes 4:24
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created
in righteousness and true holiness
.

If it will help anyone out in Jesus Christ

Amen!..the gospel of the grace of Christ does not condemn us and it also empowers us to live godly in this present world! It's all obtained/received/appropriated by faith alone in the finished work of Christ.

My Mum and my Uncle both said the prayer of repentance on their death beds. They were saved purely because of the free gift of Grace. God blesses us for our works and for every good deed we store up treasures in Heaven, but we are not saved by works. Remember the thief on the cross beside Jesus?

However, that does not mean that we should not do good deeds if/when we can. As a new creation in Christ we are told to live like Him. To feed the hungry, clothe the poor etc. This is what we should do regardless. God Bless!

Hyper grace is dumb there is no such thing.

I am not the one playing games or being dumb People rejecting grace are what is dumb..

adding works to salvation and calling it grace is what is dumb.

And it is getting old listening to people add works to grace and call it grace, then get mad when they get confronted. if they do not like it, they should stop teaching it.

Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

To whom we obey, whether sin or of obedience

Same with my mother....she repented ( changed her mind and choose to believe in Christ ) and chose to believe in Christ's salvation which is by grace through faith. That is so great to have seen your parents receive the free gift of salvation in our Lord! Imagine the fun and life they are having now! Praise God...thanks for sharing.

...Amen......and that is where the good works come in a believers life. It's His life flowing in and through us to a hurt and dying world.

It is only by our Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ that Holy Spirit works in us to produce good fruit. Amen

Take the first part of that verse by itself....Romans 8:1There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,......"

If one is truly "in" Christ then they are also truly "in" the Spirit by the new nature of Christ which now dwells in them, and that is where the no condemnation comes in by abiding "in" Christ by way of the Spirit.

Romans 8:9
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

2 Corinthians 5:17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Ephesians 4:24
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Colossians 3:10
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Romans 13:14
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

The old Adam and man of sin nature is dead and gone when you are truly made a new creation in Jesus Christ.
In Christ means our position in him through the covenant. That doesn't change unless we apostatize. That position guarantees everlasting freedom from the condemnation of GOD's wrath. This is what Romans 8:1 refers to.

Walking in Christ pertains to our behavior, whether we are obedient to the spirit or to the flesh. Walking in the flesh produces disapproval from GOD and the condemnation of our own heart and conscience. This is what Romans 8:4 refers to.

However, it appears that someone may have modified Romans 8:1 in order to conflate the two.

That's part of their defense mechanism - deny any distinction exists between false and true grace.

It doesn't really matter because they ('grace' believers), like the gnostics, believe that salvation results from focusing on one's identity as an incorruptible spirit being. That to them is repentance. One of the popular 'grace' teachers has said that sin is merely a symptom of a confused identity.
That actually isn't what is being put forth. Grace believers are secure in their salvation not because of themselves but because of what Jesus did at the cross. VVhether our spirits are incorruptible or not is irrelevant to my faith in Jesus, my Savior. I am saved because of Him, my ignorance on the incorruptibility of my spirit doesn't affect my assurance because my assurance relies on God. It is my faith in Christ that saves me, by His grace. Salvation doesn't result from focusing on identity, rather we gain our identity in the salvation the Lord offers (I.e, made new creations).

Some take Jesus saying it was finished to mean His earthly ministry work for man's salvation was done... He resurrected and then eventually ascended to sit at the right hand of the Father as our high priest after the order of Melchizedek, since priests did not sit down until their work was done. He did what He came here to do, and now intercedes for us on our behalf. Great is the mystery, but enough has been given to us to understand. Freely we received and freely we give. Saying one is to walk in obedience after the fact of receiving grace is not teaching legalism or works salvation. It is proclaiming the very words of Jesus Christ.

You must go through Romans 6 and 7 before you get to 8

No such thing as false grace, grace is grace,

free, unearned,

Licentiousness, is not grace,, If you want to condemn liscentiousness, call it what it is,, Stop calling it grace.

I am defending grace, not myself. and will do so until I die, Because grace is why I am who I am.

Heres a couple more also

Acts 3:26
Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities

Titus 2:14
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Matt 7: 22
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Mat 7: 23
And then will I profess unto them,
I never knew you: depart from me ye that work iniquity.

Paul saying this

2 Ti 2:19
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity

Seems aware of Jesus saying this

Matt 7: 23
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me ye that work iniquity.

Its good to equip the body of Christ in these things

If grace were not open to the possibility of abuse, it would at that very moment cease to be grace. Many evangelicals relate to the gospel in that they view grace as a "bilateral transaction" rather then a "unilateral action" whereby God through the Lord Jesus' finished work gives us a free gift - expecting nothing in return in terms of either earning or proving that it is really ours through His promises to us. It is all by grace through faith alone...

Paul was constantly accused by legalists that he was promoting sin because of grace and he denied it 3 times.
