We'll keep preaching the gospel of the grace of Christ...when the soil of the heart is ready..the seed of the word of His grace will do it's work!

yeah thanks Grace

see, what is being presented keeps changing

you can't pin it down...like that jello you can't nail to the wall

I truly question salvation here...I really do...nothing makes any sense and there is just no end to it

you are far more grace filled than I am, I am afraid

oh wait...that's your name LOL!

I kid, but it is life or death, literally

This is correct and incorrect. It matters very much what we do. We must abide in Christ where the safety is. Those who depart from the ark through disobedience will drown in the flood.

The Bible says the saved are kept in God's hand, and not a single one will be lost. Nothing in all creation can snatch a believer out of His grasp. Not even yourself.

You can't jump ship.

yeah well, some folks not only seem to want to jump ship, but they are throwing the life preserver BACK at us!

I went to a church that believed this. They spent all their time expecting to enjoy heaven, but it never came, they were just at the gate. We are given entry into the Kingdom of heaven to walk. In justification we become part of the kingdom, in sanctification we start to walk in it and are transformed by our actions, communion and fellowship.

The church has always been easy on the starting point, but not the journey of faith.
It is why hyper-grace worries so many because this journey of faith is not the journey of the gospel but another faith and another type of relationship. It is why this groups teachers are a problem and their ideas about what a christian is, the value of transformation, of good works, of morality, of the law, of dispensational theology that creates different religions within the label christian.

Where I am is simple. We are saved through faith, but why be transformed.
One question is because without transformation you cannot be saved, ie the goal of faith is to become like Christ in all aspects.
The counter argument is the thief on the cross was never sanctified to be like Christ, yet he was with Him.
So the key change of salvation is the first step of faith.
The next point is sin blocks the path, but to loose salvation and regain it by repentance is clumsy.
Now if faith is the marker then being defeated by sin will destroy the faith in the end.

So walking in righteousness, supports faith, reinforces the fellowship and walking with Jesus.
Now if one says the more you want to retain of who you are, the more you need to learn to walk as Jesus walked, that is a good incentive. You are not earning salvation you are making it more real to more of you.
This would make sense to Pauls notion of handing someone over to satan for a rebuke, and being saved as if through fire.

Do I know? No. But I know what makes sense in righteousness and love terms, and can fill in a lot of gaps.
I will always be saved through faith in Jesus and what he has done, but how much of me? Maybe that is down to us.

I appreciate your candidness in this post. Sincere, but sincerely wrong. Progressive sanctification doesn't save, the transformation of our conduct is not the foundation of our faith. Jesus is. Also, God does the sanctifying. Our likeness to Christ is through imputation and it is in that imputation that we find identity. Through that identity and renewing our mind, we then walk as the Lord has called us. The righteousness of God, in Christ.

You treat the blood of Christ as if you were covering blemishes on your face: A little dab here, a little dab there....

How do you know when you've done enough? If you believe you have to atone for sins after salvation, you should be terrified to die - truly not knowing if you have one or several sins one your record at the moment of death.

Just one sin will damn you, because, yet again, God's standard is complete perfection.

We are to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:48)

Get it? You have to be as perfect as GOD HIMSELF.

"Whoever is born of God does not commit sin; for His nature remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." (1 John 3:9)

If you still sin (and you know you do) by God's word, you are not born of God. How do you dance around verses like that? The Lord says those who are His, cannot sin.

Cannot sin.

Cannot.

Since what you described here does not even enter my mind, it's obvious that this is how you comprehend the things of GOD.

Again, my friend, your works have nothing to do with salvation. You will fail trying to obtain the perfection that is required.

I think of of a quote like this one and fear licentiousness greatly ...

Revelation 21:8 “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars–their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur.

How can we acknowledge sin that we don't know about? We are to acknowledge the ones we know about. It's all about a clean conscience. Yet it doesn't hurt to ask GOD to reveal to us the ones that we can't see.

so you excuse the ones you forget?

sorry, Being ignorant or forgetful is not a proper excuse..

LOL..I have had the "abundance of grace" given to me!...I thank my Lord every day for His life, grace. mercy and love!

And it is true about the life and death truth of the gospel. To the degree we believe the gospel of the grace of Christ is the degree of true life - His life - that we will experience.

you are far more grace filled than I am, I am afraid

oh wait...that's your name LOL!

I kid, but it is life or death, literally

You have a strange god that you can sin against and have no relational responsibility. Sounds more like a figment of your imagination.

Yet you say we can sin, forget about it, Or not know about it. And it is perfectly ok..

You do not practice what you preach.

Ken knows he sins, and will not hide it.. But you..

sorry, OOPS does not cut it.

There is therefore now no condemnation for those that are in Christ, Jesus. Not an endorsement to sin but an exhortation of assurance.

The licentious concept is dealt with when the apostle Paul tells us we are to reckon ourselves dead to sin and alive unto God. VVe partook in Christ's death and resurrection and the old man is crucified that we might serve in the newness of life.

The Bible says all sins are against God. Every single one.

You still sin - thus, you sin against God.

See your dilemma?

James 2:10
For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.

I see no differentiation between hidden, known unknown, accidental, or on purpose here..

A sin is a sin is a sin,,

No I don't. This is something going on in your mind, not mine.

It does not matter what you or I think, it matters what God says.

James 2:10
For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.

Stumbling is not an excuse. nor is ignorance, or forgetfullness

Amen....well said...jumping ship...good one..

some always want to make "abiding in Christ " awork!
..post #85 in this thread talks all about abiding in Christ for those who are just tuning into this thread...

Abiding in Christ is not conditional it is a promise we have because we are in Him.

It is all by grace through faith..repent ( change your mind and perspective ) and believe the gospel...it really is "good news"
