What did the original dog look like? Let us assume that was what God wanted the dog to look like. The image he set forth.

We have since downgraded the dog for whatever needs we have.

In like kind, if we knew what Adam and Eve looked like pre-sin, we'd have a better idea what the image of God looks like. Sin entered the world so long ago and distorted so much, there is no way of truly knowing anymore in this world.

God has no visible image as He is a Holy Spirit. The creation of man had to represent that which God felt necessary to point out God's image of perfection. Most of the babies are created perfect with two eyes to see properly, two ears to hear properly and a mouth to spread the Truth when he is older, two hands and two feet to do the work properly where your feet takes you to. Man is born with a brain to use to the benefit himself and others and to control the created being's heart, lungs etc. which is an impossible task for mankind. This all points to the perfect creation of God's image.

Created in the image of God. Born in the image of Adam (Genesis 5:3).

Agree...

1 Corinthians 15:49, "
And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly."

The image of man has been changed, corrupted because of the fall. But one day, we will be changed into the image of Christ, the incorruptible. That's the day of the adoption, the redemption of our bodies. That's what all believers are now predestined for. It's a future redemption of our body.

doesn't scripture say you have been born of the incorruptible seed ? rather than one day you will be?

The Old Testament says Adam was made in the image of God,and the New says Adam was made in the image of Christ. The image of God is the image of Christ.God had the plan to come in the future in flesh, before He created Adam, and created Adam in that image, which is an innocent nature,in flesh.

When Adam sinned he fell out of the image of God,but in the New Testament, led by the Spirit,we can be back in the image of God.Nobody in the Old Testament was in the image of God,until Jesus came, and the people that follow Him,by the Spirit.

You could say we are born in the image of God,because babies are innocent, which the Bible says the angels always do behold the face of the Father for the little ones.It is not until later on when we sin, which we will do for we are born not knowing God,that we are not in the image of God,which would mean we are not born in the image of God,for we will not portray his ways, and attributes, later in life, until we come to Him.

thanks for the response, I share a lot of what you have said here. I would say that babies are born innocent only because they do not yet understand good and evil when the knowledge of what is right and wrong comes, so will transgression. I believe adam was created in Gods image and "fell out of it" also as you have said. and through receiving Christ is like a recreation in a way that makes us into His image. a new "breath of Life"......thank you for the thoughts and God bless

Moses saw Gods hand, adam and eve spoke face to face to him, the visable image of God was shown to the world in the Body of Jesus Christ. He does have a visable image, we just don't have the eyes to see him

Yes. That man was created in the image of God means that man was created to be the visible impression or expression of God. That is a derived image.

We were created to be the visible image of the invisible God, not in and of ourselves, but by the Spirit of God within our own human spirit, expressing His character through us. Something that was lost in the garden, and which has now been restored to us through the indwelling presence of the Spirit of Christ.

do you assume that "image" refers to what God looks like only? or would His image be his character ect.....also?

Genesis 1:27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Romans 5:14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.
