Exactly!..well said...that is the gospel that we are to contend for....the gospel of the grace of Christ..alone...no additives, no insecticides, or pesticides ....just the pure gospel of salvarion by grace through faith in Christ's finished work..

It will always be "Worthy is the Lamb"..never will it be said in heaven...

"Worthy is the Lamb....... and me because I did my own D.I.Y righteousness/holiness )

Ephesians 1:13-14, "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory."

step #1: hear the gospel
Step #2: believe/trust the gospel
Step #3: sealed for the redemption by the Holy Spirit, guaranteed, the promise of the adoption

Jesus and all of the apostles taught such. The problem is that the discussion always gets skewed by the faith + works meme to mean only doing good works. Those are what are rewarded (or not rewarded if they burn up).

Works also includes doing evil. Many scripture passages have to be ignored or twisted to assert that man doesn't have to keep himself pure to be saved.
Romans 4:4
Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.

Romans 11:6
And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

2 Timothy 1:9
who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

Titus 3:5
not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

Nice try,, Grace is not works. They do not mix,,

Where does the Apostle Paul teach faith + works for salvation?

HRFTD, You've just shown us all by your testimony that you believe in salvation by works!

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast." Eph 2:8-9

He is able to but Paul continually warns to stay in the faith and not fall back. He doesn't do it all Alone. You must do your part.
So he is able to. But he is not.. can you explain how God could fail to do what he promised to do?

Paul warned us about falling back into a way we stop being light, He warned us to test to make sure we had real faith, and not false legalistic faith. Or false faith (as James said, a dead faith) which would never save anyone.

Most of his teachings were against legalistic jews trying to add works to grace, and you want to use him to support a works based Gospel? Thats like using him to contradict his very teaching.

A believer can sin. Maybe some holy ones not but I was perfectly able to go live in sin.
Hm You should question why then, Because the apostle john said a believer can not live in sin, Because they have been born of God.

So how could you live in sin? (like the world)

Salvation is a synergistic relationship where both parties contribute their part.

Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that whenever he is revealed we will be like him, because we will see him just as he is. And everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as that one is pure. 1 John 3:2-3

Yes, but it's not a condition for eternal salvation. It's a condition to receive rewards or suffer loss.
Don't know what hay is. It sounds neutral, not like fornication and drunkenness and other things Paul warns for.

Because I was a baby christian and hadn't overcome the wicked one yet, neither did I know who I was in Christ and I had been taught I had 2 natures, a spirit that was made holy and a soul that had a sin nature.
Dunno why. Offense what the Bible warns for was one.
It all started when we stopped praying every morning for 2 hours.

Remember, If you tell this guy he teaches works, He will get mad..

yet here he is.. teaching you must earn your salvation by doing your part (works)

1 John 3:2-3 is saying that because we are like Jesus in our inner man ( we have received of Him and His nature ) and we have this hope inside us..then this happens ....we work out what is already inside of us ( Phil 2:13 )

It is obvious from scripture that we are to walk out the holiness that is already in us in Christ.
There is a difference between us as a person being "set apart" ( sanctified in our spirit ) and "setting apart " ( sanctifying ) our behavior.

This has nothing to do with "works-based" salvation...it is simply becoming outwardly who we truly are inside our new inner man..the new creation in Christ.

1 Peter 1:15-16 (NASB)
[SUP]15 [/SUP] but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;
[SUP]16 [/SUP] because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY."

You lived like the world? Or you had issues with some sins?

There is a difference, you understand this right

You are a perfect example of someone running around bearing false testimony about the grace of God and of believers of grace.

Yep. Everyone who "has that hope in HIM" purifies himself. Notice their hope is not in themselves, and some mistaken notion of an ability to purify themselves, but in Christ. We who are purified, are purified because our hope is in Christ and His purifying and cleansing work for us.
