To the ones dishing out their excuses for not attending a local church...is their REASON for not attending! lol Of course, a 'churched" CHRISTIAN sees it as an excuse, but the reason remains.....there are more unchurched folks today than ever before...the REASON? could it be the beginning of the Great Falling Away?

The fallng away started when Diotrephes in 3John tried to start the 'cleric' order. Ignatius of Antioch picked up on the sweet idea at the start of the second century. Satan, by incrementation, or should I say excrementation, established the blasphemous clerical/laity division over time. The Catholic Church put the idea on steroids. When Martin Luther pulled out of Babylon, he took the cleric system with him intact.

So the ecclesia started out in the first century with the every member participation open meeting which Satan hated. It was directed by Christ, the Head of His body and powerful, not without problems of course. All members ministered their functions. I know you won't check out these scriptures but I'll post them again. Maybe somebody will listen to me some day. 1Cor.12, Ephesians 4, Romans 12.

So the falling away was embraced by the ecclesia. The great apostasy has reached the flash point in this last hour.

If someone escapes this apostate religion it is only natural for those that cling to Babylon to accuse them of being a heretic.

Personally I tried my level best to 'fit in' with this monster falsely called 'church' for several decades to no avail. God wouldn't have it. For a small taste of 'my world' see: 'which pastor'.

Ac 13:14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.
Ac 14:1 And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.
Ac 17:10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
Ac 18:19 And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.
Ac 19:8 And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.

Paul taught that we should gather and fellowship together.

We are to fellowship with those of like faith, that are building their house on the firm foundation of His Truth. Eh?

I have the feeling it's more that YET wouldn't have it..... and used God as an excuse.

It's so much easier to sit at home every Sunday and rail against all those "apostate" churches.

There are NO perfect churches. Never will be. Some so-called churches are obviously against what Jesus ordained, but you lump all churches in together, if they don't meet YOUR notions of what a church should be.

You should give up your notion of being "a lone voice crying in the wilderness" and come into the fellowship of believers.
A Christian cannot be a "loner"... that completely misses the intent of Jesus when He established His church. We are a body.. all of us have our part to play, but we play it together, in fellowship.

Are you still looking for a local church? Will you continue to condemn, and demmonize all church and pastors even thought by your on admission you have personal knowledge of less than 100?
Your actions and words speak volumnes about you, and what is shown is not pleasing to God.

I have been here a short time and have read very few post. But it seems that some are not members of nor even attend a local church.

I believe that the two verses I quoted teach us that we should not only attend a local church, but should be a member. ie Be a part of it's ministry, support with our money, learn from others, teach others, fellowship with other.

This seems to be God's plan for us to glorify Him.

How does one justify not doing what these verses clealy teach?

If I go to church, in about 45 minutes from the time I sit down in a chair (folding chairs or pews), I will start crying quietly, get up, and limp out the door in pain from my bad back. I could go to church, if I could afford a comfortable chair for the church building to sit in. My comfy chair at home broke last March. (Holy schmoly! I just realized I've been dealing with this problem for a year now.) Until I could afford a new one, I made due (and spent too much money trusting Laz-E-Boy to honor their "lifetime guarantee), by adding and removing pillows, cushions, towels, and then removing them to try to get comfortable again. I just bought the new one last week for more money than I paid for the recliner that broke.

As for hubby? He developed Tourette's in 2003, including both surprising jerky movements and blurts. He feared an inappropriate blurt right smack in the middle of the sermon. (Oddly enough, if he watches his language over a long period of time, he still blurts, but they aren't inappropriate. Surprising, but not inappropriate.)

Now, the good news is, ever since his heart attack, since he's been laid up in bed, I've seen no jerky moves or blurts. Because the Tourette's came along directly related to his inherited (aboard an aircraft carrier, when he was young and burned all over his body from cleaning a jet fuel tank --fumes, no fuel burned him) sensitivity to chemicals, and then 24 weeks of chemo, so we think that was the odd cause. Maybe God has reset his body with the heart attack, except this is just a theory, until he can walk again.

So, is we or isn't we "justified?"

Lady, you and your hubby have a legitimate reason. You are not alone.
Unfortunately many only offer excuses. God knows your heart.

Lynn... I don't think it's judgmental to describe what our responsibilities are as Christians.. I think it goes without saying that we're talking about attitudes... those Christians that COULD be a part of a church, but choose not to, citing all the excuses listed.. and many more.
It has nothing to do with those that would if they could, but cannot, due to circumstances.

Were the the prophets of old loners? Was Paul a loner when he said 'at my first answer NO MAN stood with me, but all men forsook me.'2Tim. 4:16
Was he a loner when '...all they which are in Asia be turned away from me'. 2Tim. 1:15

These men of God STOOD ALONE for one reason and one reason only....they refused to twist or compromise God's clear word.

Um Paul was in jail when he said that. And could not go to an assembly. People did to him what the disciples did to Christ when he was arrested. They left him alone.

Maybe if you went to church, you would understand this.

If you were a member of the church that I am a member, we would buy you a chair for your home and the church.
There would probably be a heated debate as to who would have the honor of paying for those chairs.

God did not want us to be alone for a reason.. He put us in a local body for a reason.
