So, with the hope of saying things I perceive need to be said in accordance to the understanding God has given me, as well as many of you. What does the word say of the fruit that is of the spirit of God? when Jesus says His followers are recognized by their fruit, I would conclude myself that at least in part these fruits are an identifier of His followers

galatians 5:22-23 " But the fruit of the spirit is Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. against such things there is no Law."

a few verses that connect

colossians 3:12-14 " therefore as Gods CHOSEN people, holy and dearly Loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience bear with one another and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive AS the Lord forgave you. and over all these virtues put on Love which binds them together in perfect unity."

James 3:17 -18 " But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace, raise a harvest of righteousness."

These are a small sample of the things that conclude obedience to Christ in His church, many more to be found just like these. If we are called to argue each point and act in the things like dissention, factions, divisions, arguments, constant opposition, because of people who are just looking to act in the things of the sinful nature ( all of these are identified as sinful in and around these same sets of scripture) then we are actually working against the name we profess. if we feel we are to rebuke lets do it within the paramiters of the spirit and not operating in the sinful nature. Not to win an argument, but in hope that someone will grow in Christ and also when we take these virtues as our guidelines you find that very often there is no sin pulling at you, far less are temptations we struggle with because the spirit is our protection from the weakness of the flesh.

just my thoughts. and honestly I cant see how this would turn to an argument. I'm hoping that some will simply consider that its the word of God we all believe in, even if its not my opinion, maybe its best to accept and study these things sop that they will become our thoughts and actions more and more.

God bless you in the abundance of Christ who is fully capable and willing to provide all we need for righteousness and all else

Daniel 6:3-5
"Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. Finally these men said, "We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God."

1 Peter 3:15-16
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

Indeed ... let us always strive to be above all reproach concerning our behavior

I notice your own words given by the Lord often also and appreciate many things you have lead me to consider, or see from a different perspective. I was speaking with a brother about it over the past few days how when we are open to one another and actually look at this whole thing as a unit, there is so much we can learn from just conversation with other believers that we cant really come to on our own because unlike the Lord we are limited in our thinking but together, we have the mind of Christ by His spirit. There is real fruit in unity and peace leads to real "meat and potatoes" learning that helps us grow. God Bless you in all your need and also triumphs

Amen to that, our examples thrived when there was peace among them, and peace was their goal. God bless you bro you have been a blessing in the short time we have discussed.

I've spent a great deal of time alone with Christ ... in the wilderness, so to speak, and there is definitely much to say for that.

But the Lord led me recently to fellowship again ... and there is much to say for that also. :)

So- Amen, brother!

haha I could so have written that also, its like he got me very alone with only Him, to give me a message of unity to share with my family lol His ways are mysterious indeed. perspectives are the thing that helps me so much, one person who has been through a difficulty or something that I have never experienced myself, always seems to have some good word meant for me.

Nods - His ways and thoughts are far above us sometimes.

I think both communion with Him and with brethren are necessary for us
- because- after all -
there are TWO "greatest commandments" :)

Just another thought, Blonds do have them every now and then...lol

I look at the different denominations as parts of the body of Christ because since we are different we can reach so many more people and isn't the goal to introduce people to Jesus and for them to get to know Him and accept the salvation He offers them?

The hand isn't any better than the foot and the eyes aren't any better than the nose or the mouth.... So to me we are brothers and sisters in Christ making up the whole body with different jobs to do in getting the gospel out to the whole world.... which is so much better than fighting with each other over our doctrinal differences.

I think if we are truly all Christians (In Christ) with the same Spirit in us - then likely our doctrines will not differ much. If they do differ a little it is probably just highlighting our differences of maturity in Him - We are all growing at different paces, and we each started at a different time.

But all that aside I think a group of real Christians should all be bearing good fruits in discussion. When the conversation plummets to sewer level with insults like "you idiot" etc. I really start to wonder if I am exchanging with true Christians.

1. Can an unsaved person show love?
2. Can an unsaved person show joy?
3. Can an unsaved person show longsuffering towards humanity (through charity)?
4. Can unsaved people promote peace (Gandhi)?

If you are honest about the questions, the answers are "Yes". How about the Mormons or the Jehovah Witnesses? They aren't saved.

"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves" (Matt. 7:15). Notice, they are outwardly sheep, thus showing "fruits of the Spirit:"

Jason,

Show us how it is done and how well it works for you.

For years Jehovah's Witnesses and other cultists made converts out of the Baptist Church and other churches and no one did anything about it.
