Hi, wasn't too sure what title to use. What I mean is what books apart from the bible, have you read recently or not so recently that have helped you, either in your prayer life, Faith etc. hopefully we can all learn of new books etc.
(Please don't write back 'Oh, I just read my bible' we all read our bibles.
A book Im reading at the moment is called 'God on Mute' the title gives it away lol. It is about unanswered prayer, its been a great read so far, and made me think about things I had never thought about before, here's one of the points Peter greig makes in his book.
Prayer that contradicts
This is a good one. to explain it the author says imagine there is a farmer who surveys his crops and needs rain badly, yet in the same town/area there is a bride who is getting married, she;s praying for more sunshine?
another one was, and I laughed at this one as I have done it. Two football/soccer teams have a match, call them red team and blue team, some supporters are praying for the red team and others are praying fro the blue team. these are what the author call contradictory prayers Now just imagine a few million Christians praying everyday? I did laugh at the football one though.
The author is not saying not to pray for these sort of things but is guiding you to some reasons why prayer is not answered.
that was one point from the book that I had never heard before so it was an eye opener to me.
So over to you what book have you read that has helped you, even in your bible study.
Kind regards
Phil
