What leader? Jesus Christ? Obviously you don't put much stake in the bible since they are dead authors. Why not work with me in your limited intelligence? I'm interested in the fact you don't read history yet profess to know the bible penned by dead authors
Mark 12:27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

The problem as I see it, the grace only crowd would call righteous conduct a "works based salvation".

that would be a problem, but you know, i've never actually met someone who ever said that.
what i've consistently heard from the saints, is that we conduct ourselves in righteousness because we have received grace, not in order to receive it. isn't that just what the scripture says, over and over?

and it also says that we are God's handiwork, purposed for good works.

ain't no reason to stop rejoicing over the free gift of grace and redemption, just because we have a purpose. that amazing, abundant grace is exactly what compels and enables me to carry out that purpose!

anybody on this thread think it's cool to go on wantonly sinning, and proud of how wicked you are? because of the great grace you've been given? speak up.
Nikki & i want to tell you that you're not fulfilling your purpose, and you ought to clean it up and do something in return for the gift you've been given.

freely you have received, freely give.
(Matthew 10:8)

that's the command of the Lord, folks.
give back to Him of what you've received, in the way you received it: FREELY :)

Those blessings are found in Christ. If you walk outside of Christ you are not in the realm of no condemnation anymore. GOD is faithful to his covenant and doesn't cast us away if/when that happens; and he will cleanse us if/when we turn. But if you persist in rebellion to the point that your heart becomes so hardened that you can't hear the voice of his spirit any more, you will be cut off.

You hypocrite.

You persist in sin yourself. You sin every single day.

And thus, by the word of God, you are not born of God.

"Whoever is born of God does not commit sin; for His seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." (1 John 3:9)

You consistently ignore that verse, because you know you are sinful.

His point is if historians contradict God's word, the historians are the ones who are wrong.

How did I attack you?

I asked you three times how history will show you what I believe.

You attacked me by calling me gnostic. Using history.

All I did was call you out on it.

Now are you going to answer the question of how history can prove what I BELIEVE.

Or continue to prove me right?

History is full of mistakes. If someone jumps off of a bridge, are you going to jump off the bridge?

What you're doing is projecting your own ignorance. You wouldn't be able to accurately describe what I believe if you tried.

We are sure grateful that Luther didn't listen to the 1,300 years of church history and tradition when he said " The just shall live by faith"...we are saved by grace through faith alone...whenever "sacred cows" have a knife to their throats...the legalists scream to keep them cows alive...and use "church history and tradition" as their ammo against the grace of Christ.

Answer regarding that verse and quit deflecting.

You sin, every day. According to 1 John 3:9, you are not born of God.

Go ahead....try and worm your way out of it.

If history contradicts your interpretation of GOD's word, there's a very large chance that you are the one who is wrong.

i'm pretty sure e.g. is just trying to get you to focus on the what the Bible says about grace, instead of ante-nicene or post-nicene writers, because the scripture outweighs any of those writings - we know from the scripture that there was plenty of heresy and false teaching from the beginning, so just because something is written in the first couple of centuries of the history of the church doesn't make it right. it still needs to be compared with scripture. even the Bereans compared Paul with scripture.
that doesn't mean e.g. is ignorant; it means he holds scripture in higher regard than any other text.

and yes, trying to turn discussions back towards the Bible is indeed how the Bible discussion forum "goes"
-- that's why we call it the 'Bible discussion forum' :)

y'all are supposed to be brothers, and i know brothers spat, but do please remember that
