Fun fact: Starbuck's has a program where they will happily give you huge trash bags full of their used coffee grounds for your compost heap. Saved my some good money on soil after I got all of that composted! Nitrogeeeeen!

elephant crap is really efficacious.
mom used to take the station wagon down to the mall parking lot whenever the circus was in town and load it up. they were happy to off-load the crap, so it was free.
and mom's garden -- man, those vegetables were lush! good stuff, and not very stinky either.

Wow! Hubby took his van with 55-gallon drums to do the same thing.

Sadly, not for our garden. That was back in the days when he had a large yard with real soil. (His first marriage.) Now we have a small cement yard with containers for plants. I do compost though -- in a rubbermaid trash can.

Sounds like a good deal! All that I know about elephant poop is that it's so fibrous that they can and actually do make paper out of it.


Yep! Exactly what I did for years. Made pretty good money at it too, until the local market slowed down. I had a deal going with a local Tractor Supply Co. store and sold breeding stock besides. I did a rabbit show once, too. That was fun. Been missing it, in a weird way.

Pooooop! Yeah, it's a great consistency for just mixing it right in there. Doesn't smell, either. Grows some pretty impressive tomatoes! I've heard bat guano is great stuff, but it's so hot that it has to be composted for a good long while before you can even use it.

And it's hard finding enough bats in the city. Too bad our resident birds are mostly scavengers. (Pigeons, house wrens, and starlings.) But our local robin helped once. After the rain he dropped a worm into our yard. I threw it in the composter and have had the wormiest soil ever since. About five worms per trowel full.

I think they started charging for it a year or two ago. (Think. Not sure.) Since hubby isn't home drinking his coffee, I might have to go and find out. About a third of our compost is his coffee grinds.

Ok that is not cool man, everyone was just having a little fun and why not? the tension in this thread was kind of bad and if one cannot have a laugh or so with friends even if it's about poo then what is the point? Sometimes being immature is necessary and does one more good than a lot of people realize, I am all for helping you and talking with you but if you speak in this manner to my family on cc I cannot allow that so I politely ask you to play nice. While there are times you need to shake people, I don't know that this was one of them. The fact that Blain spoke a word about it gave me pause to consider it isn't. So I apologize if I stepped over the line with my attitude.

Part of the passion is because I do understand what you are talking about. I understand from untold depths the elephant dung. Swim in a cesspool of it each and every day. For a long time I blamed and tried to accept that it was from God. And I learned thru great personal loss that it's not from Him. Cost me my life, you might say. Yes, God can and will use the elephant dung of our lives to produce flowers and fruit and life. But He is not the one who provides it. He is not the one who provides it. And it hurts me to see someone so convinced that He does.

Still, I've learned from much loss (and greater gains in Christ) it is from God. Just as that large fish was from God for Jonah. T'ain't pretty. T'ain't fun. But t'is from God. And, t'ain't over either.

But like Utah said the OP has been accusatory of other posters and God one minute and apologizing the next just to loose it the next minute. If you've followed his posts under both names you'd see what I mean. So ya,Ive kinda been holding on to myself and Ive finally had enough now. Some folks just come to stir up trouble,they aren't sincere. The Op says he's hurting and then says nothing more. When the rest of us figure he's done with the tread he comes back to lash out again. I have a listening ear for a person that is sincere but people that just cause drama? No. There's a point when enough is enough. If he keeps it up he'll be banned for sure.
