Are we to be Christian literalists? Well, believing that God's word given to us in scripture is 100% absolute truth is part of our faith is it not? To be more in Christ, are we not exhorted to examine the scriptures and apply them to our lives as well? Is not all scripture given to us by inspiration of God? Can we then not use the 66 books in the bible (Scripture) for our doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness?

2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Thus, when we examine anything that has become a doctrine in the church (well, our doctrine is in 66 books), we thus look towards what God has stated in His word for us which stands the test of time and does not change. Is that not part of the beauty of the bible, our 100% absolute truth? God's truth stands regardless of the time period, culture, or beliefs of mankind as time passes by.

The issue of women teaching or preaching is not being discussed. What we are looking at is the authority of women over men in the church as well as life in general. You brought up Priscilla, and this is the only example of a husband and wife team working to teach Apollos more correctly in Christ. There is no mention of women having headship in a family when all parts of a family are present, nor is there mention of women being elders and pastors in a church. We do have examples of women exercising spiritual gifts including teaching, but when it comes to exercising spiritual authority over a man, it is not present in the bible.

The real question is... is it our job to reinterpret the bible to fit in with our times? Or is it our job to ask the Lord to give us better understanding regarding His ways and how we can apply them in our lives?

11 pages of a troll being fed, with horribly passive (and not so passive) aggressive bickering between what should be a Christian community. Pretty horrible thing to witness.

P.S. - to the O.P. - Gr8 b8 m8. 8/8. ;)

Some of the most beautiful, heart-moving, helpful,

bible-based, Christ-centered, Spirit-led words

I've ever heard or read came from women who

believe in Jesus, many right here on this site!

I thank the Lord for my sisters in Christ, So Much!

They're the best, I love them, and I'm not ashamed

to admit I've learned from them. ♡

(and I STILL wish one would marry me :p )

(Wasn't a woman one of the first to proclaim
our Saviour Jesus was alive and risen?) :D
A. Teaching doesn't make us your pastor.

B. One husband keeps me going. Two husbands and I'd be going insane.

Hey! I heard that. Who questioned my sanity already?

oh for pete's sake

yes...if all else fails, lets go to wiki and after that a youtube vid that has been edited to make it seem that all people who speak in tongues are insane, all women who preach are devils and maybe throw in some replacement theology while at it
Oh for Pete's sake, it says the same thing on her website. Learn to deal... without pretending like this deflects from the facts.

so in the entire nation, the only one God could find to do what is right was a woman?

oh my

just a bit ironic

chuck...take it to your own church...it's not going to fly here
And stop assuming because you say it everyone must believe it. Its flying fine.

Again. Learn to deal.

The scientific and research community use wikipedia.
Off-topic: (Doctors use Wiki to diagnose, but research reveals 20% of what the medical articles on wiki says are wrong. Scary, huh?)

wow

women cannot study the Bible on their own

that's what you just posted

I must admit...I have not heard that one before

so basically you do not believe that God allows women the capacity to understand what He is saying to those He loves and has saved, unless a male voice is uttering doctrine two octaves lower

do you know how stupid that sounds?
Not half as stupid as putting words never said into his mouth -- since you want stupid clarified so much. This is it for you, isn't it? Rally at your rage or say nothing. Now I remember why I had you on ignore. Your anger carries like a cloud of poison.

Folks conditioned by false teaching put all their faith in following the letter of the law. They eyes haven't opened yet to the reality of walking in the spirit of Jesus Christ. They fear if they don't follow every jot & tittle that they will face the wrath of God, of which they don't realize they've already been delivered by the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

In other words, they are babes. So as long as people hang onto their childish superstitions and false pride and don't lay down their natural logic to the mind of Christ within them, there will be debates like this.
Actually it's supposed to be about if women should be pastors.

If a woman doesn't listen to the Bible about female pastors then they aren't going to listen to the Bible when it comes to suing. They will say lawsuits were not cultural in the time of Paul.
you mean if they won't listen to YOUR interpretation of the Bible

this is a well beaten path...probably as beaten as many women who have been beaten by their ...cough cough..Christian husbands

I listen to Jesus...not folks like you who want to hit people over the head with their so called authority

You're argument is with the bible, I didn't say anything I just quoted scripture.
nah...it's only an argument from your own viewpoint

it's been settled for thousands of years

take it up with Jesus

Well it never got to pants, but it sure did get to personal opinion over what the Bible says. And, sure enough personal opinion unrelated to the OP.

This was never about women's standing in God. It was if we should be PASTORS! But yup, keep on thinking childishly forcing others to believe as you do is the way to preach anything. (How about assuming I aimed that at YOU, not everyone else for a change, since it fit 95% of those posting afte page 2?)

All it taught me is pastor is a very rare breed on this board.

The number one rule in understanding scripture is to NOT iterpret it, just believe what it says even when it goes against what you want it to say.
and that coming from a KJV ONLY interpreter

better mend the cracks in your glass house

Time to choose Blain...your feelings or God's Word.

But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
(1Ti 2:12)

pressure to pick a side is not from God

if a person feels pressure to make a decision, then that is not from God

even in salvation, God stirs the heart by His Spirit...He doesn't come along and demand

in the OT, the Israelites were told to 'choose this day who you will serve'

but Blain is already serving Christ

I know how it feels to have pressure put upon you with someone standing over you demanding you choose what they tell you to choose and having the nerve to tell you God told them to do it

Get over yourself there crossnote

Liberalism is an arch enemy of God's Word ...always questioning it, doubting it, making ungodly allowances...etc.
Very profound, accurate statement. If it feeeeeeeeels good, do it.

and yet I see you asking questions all over the place and telling people you are mixed up and need answers

you are no authority here...don't kid yourself

but sure do like to tell everyone off

back on ignore which is really where I should have left you

you just like to take a stick and poke and prod...you seem to have anger issues and you take them out on everyone
