Paul said that women must wear a veil when they "prophesy" - which means "to preach" / "to be God's spokesperson".

I usually defer to Chuck; he knows the scriptures, but I think the bible supports a woman as a temporary pastor. I won't go into the different scenario's. It may be a unusual situation, but I would not discount it as un-scriptural.
And the word does not prohibit a woman from being a junior pastor under the leadership of a man, or even co-pastor under a mans authority in certain circumstances too.
And I know this is somewhat outside the focus of the subject, but certainly woman can preach. That is not the same as being a pastor though.
I would draw the line at saying a woman should be permitted to permanently pastor a church. I think the word implies that is not scriptural.
God's word does allow flexibility in different cultures and eras, but some things are timeless and unmovable.

Are you serious? I didn't say they didn't have veils or never wore veils ..its not what the scripture is saying nor would ANY honest person try to translate covering as veil ...its just silly

The modern versions like NIV and ESV use the word "veil".
The NASB uses the word 'veil'.

PART I
Jesus sat and talked with the Samaritan woman at the well. Without any condemnation or criticism, He revealed to her that He knew all about her life situation and her spiritual thirst for the Messiah. Her spiritual eyes were opened that day. The woman then went back to town and testified of Christ and many came to salvation because of her faith in the Lord. \

Unfortunately, the disciples questioned in their hearts why Jesus would even associate with the likes of her. To them, she was not even worthy to talk to.
The woman caught in the act of adultery was condemned by the religious men in that city. She was cast into the street to be stoned to death. Jesus didn’t condemn her though. On the contrary, He turned the tables on her accusers and they fled the scene. The Lord proved that nobody had the authority to condemn her.
A woman who had a sinful reputation came to the house of a Pharisee where Jesus was having a meal. As she stood weeping, she poured perfume on Jesus, then began to wash His feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. She also kissed His feet over and over and anointed them with the fragrant oil.
Not only did the Pharisee believe the woman wasn’t even worthy to touch, he also questioned Jesus’ validity as a prophet. He didn't believe Jesus had the power to perceive the truth about the woman. Of course, the Pharisee's "truth" was a lie.
Jesus honored the woman by declaring that her love for Him was greater than anyone else’s in that house and that her sins were forgiven. Jesus also added that it was her faith in Him that saved her.
The woman who spent all she had trying to get well knew that the law declared she should be stoned to death if she were to touch anyone while having an issue of blood. To the world, she was considered “unclean”.
So she reasoned in her fearful heart that without making a public disturbance, she could just slip into the crowd unnoticed, touch the hem of Jesus’ clothes and be healed. Except Jesus perceived virtue when she touched Him. And the Lord publicly honored her for having faith in Him to make her whole. He restored her life completely.
Rahab the harlot helped the spies who were men of God. She must have been given spiritual insight to take sides with them and to understand that she was taking sides with God Himself, for she’s counted among those of great faith in the book of Hebrews.
It doesn’t set well with a lot of religious folks that Rahab, Tamar and Bathsheba were sinful women who through God’s intervention all shared in the royal line from which Jesus came. In fact, Rahab married Salmon and became the mother of Boaz, who married Ruth from whose son, Obed, Jesse the father of David came, through whose line Jesus was born.
Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them ran back to tell the apostles Jesus was risen. But the apostles considered their words nonsense, idle tales. The men went back to the tomb to see for themselves because they didn’t believe the women of God.
The story of Peter being released from prison by God through angelic intervention is nothing short of amazing. Even Peter himself had to come back to his senses once he was outside the prison gate and the angel had departed. In the meantime, there was a group gathered at John Mark’s mother’s house praying for Peter’s release. When Peter came calling at the door, a girl named Rhoda announced with great joy that Peter had arrived. Unfortunately, nobody believed the girl. They called her crazy! But Rhoda kept insisting Peter was there until they finally opened the door and were able to believe for themselves.
Strange when you think these people were actually in the midst of a prayer meeting for Peter specifically yet didn’t believe young Rhoda when she announced their prayers were answered that very night with Peter at the door.
