The reason I am writing this is in response to EG and his claim I am slandering his group.
The truth is they are dishonest about what they believe and why and continually use language about deprogramming themselves, and dislike of normal christian attitudes and values. As this language is alien to most of us, it appears odd at first. The truth is most of these people are ex-legalists who were trying to follow Jesus by implementing rules above everything else. They then project this on to everyone they meet, as their are now only two types of people in the world legalists or extreme grace followers.
The felt they had arrived got it all sussed as legalists, when actually they were fundamentally flawed.
But this was just another revelation on their road of sanctification, but this was too much so they have overthrown the whole faith to fit with their new reality. And be assured this is a different faith, with a different agenda and approach, and desiring to destroy and uproot anything they regard as the false gospel in the church. It is this aggression and condemnation which is most worrying, painting normal believing christians as people of evil intent which obviously includes me.
I have no problem with people outside the faith doing this, but within, and saying they are my brothers and sisters in the Lord, that is heresy and self destructive intent to wreck and uproot churches which is the very thing Jesus said he would not let the angels do until the day of judgement.
Peter, I haven't been here in quite a few weeks. I am surprised to see you are back in the same place as when I left...
I haven't read but the first two posts in here, so I don't know who EG is, so I certainly can't speak there.
But you still seem to be missing the one vital point that seems to be keeping you from seeing that some you think are your enemies are really not.
Obedience is very important.
No one thinks the law is not important or that obedience is not important.
In fact, it is only through Christ in us and the renewing of our minds and hearts that the law CAN be kept.
I just don't know what else can be said. You insist on making some to be your enemies when they are not.
Christ is the end of the law for righteousness.
He is not the end of law. How would that even be possible? Gods word is eternal.
He is not the end of the law. He is the end of the law for righteousness.
In fact, it never was the law that made a man righteous in Gods sight.
It was faith.
Why return to the law for righteousness when it never WAS what made a man righteous in Gods sight?
If Christ fulfills the law in each of us with the renewing of our minds and hearts through the Spirits guidance, what law do you think is being broken?
He doesn't renew our minds and hearts in one split second. He has many things to say to us and He says them as we are able to bear them. As He does, we change our minds on these things. In this way, from faith to faith and glory to glory we are being transformed more and more into the likeness of Christ.
How is that disobedience?
