Angela, you have a very irritating, condescending and abusive spirit. I put you on ignore after your rude response to me earlier, but I must answer your charges against Peter because I don't like your abusive attitude. I frankly think that you are a poser, who pretends to have more spiritual authority than is rightfully yours. You try to act like Ms Authority, but in this particular arena, you seem to be abysmally ignorant. This controversy has been going on for months. I've watched it nearly every day since the beginning. Peter's observations are entirely correct. IMO, Peter's use of the indirect third person (they) was to conceptually discuss the topic without mentioning those who have verbalized these things. So your charge that Peter was slandering everyone on this forum is just stupid. You're trying to act like Ms. Large-and-in-Charge, and you have no clue what's going on. And if you do, then you are entirely guilty of partiality, because Grace777x70 habitually indulges in passive-aggressive "slander" using the indirect third party method. You had me fooled. I thought that you were worthy of respect.
Let me start off by saying, from my experience here, Angela is one of the most spiritually mature and knowledgeable Christians on these boards. She is patient, kind, and bold when she needs to be.
Now (Though I know he won't be reading this because he has me on ignore) you, HeRose, on the other hand, have been one of the most biblically illiterate, snide, immature, false-converts I've ever had the displeasure of discoursing with. You hardly ever answer questions directly, instead make sweeping statements that everything we bring up is gnosticism. When caught in a contradiction, you go back and change your post if given enough time.
The most telling of all your immature traits, is when someone is clearly thumping you theologically in a debate, you put them on ignore, trumping up charges that they were "rude" or "mean" to you. You do this to cut down your opponents to those you think you can beat in debate. It's cowardly.
You slam people for doing things that you yourself do, then deny you act in such a way. When backed into a corner, instead of admitting you may be wrong, you start your character assassination game - the one you are pulling with Angela right now.
You teach that obedience is necessary or a Christian will lose their salvation - which makes you a partner with Christ, sharing in His glory. (You deny this, but it's absolutely true). The reason you do this is obvious: you want praise that is only due Christ to feed your enormous ego. You want to be admired as some great theological teacher/elder, standing on high, calling down the lightning and fire on those you deem unworthy.
In my opinion, you think of yourself as some mighty warrior for Christ, when actually, you are only here to get the ego boosts you crave.
I've seen your kind plenty of times in my Christian life, and they all end the same. The burden of trying to be "good" under the guise of "obeying Christ's commandments" to keep your salvation, shipwrecks their faith, and the faith of others in their circle, because they can't live they way preach.
They teach abstinence from sin to maintain salvation, yet they still sin, every single day, and that fact destroys them. It's the cauldron where many atheists are made.
You have my pity, and my prayers.
