There cannot be any mixing of the covenants ( Old and New ) nor can there be any philosophy or traditions that are man-made as they are contrary to living by grace through faith in Christ's finished work only.

Anything else = nullifies the work of grace of Christ in our lives and then we develop a religion.

Galatians 5:9 (NASB)
[SUP]9 [/SUP] A little leaven leavens the whole lump.

Colossians 2:6-8 (NASB)

[SUP]6 [/SUP] Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,

[SUP]7 [/SUP] having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.

[SUP]8 [/SUP] See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.

I propose that we just ignore their malice and slanderous posts and post scriptures that show where they are in error.....sometimes when the knife is to the throat of a "saved cow" of some religious traditions....the offended get their gander up!......but it gives us a chance to preach the gospel of the grace of Christ...and of that I rejoice!

I say we just take "the hit" from those that revile us and walk on with others talking about the grace and love of our good Father and how great our salvation is in Jesus' finished work on our behalf.....that is my stance.....He is our defender and our great reward!.....:)
Yes. More this ^

Amen.

You call escapetoreality.org a "false-grace" website. Why?

I checked out the "about" section: About Dr. Paul Ellis – Escape to Reality

...which revealed the author's purpose and motivation.

I checked out the author's version of the gospel: Good News! – Escape to Reality

...which reveals the author is sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.

I find nothing "false" about what the author, Dr. Paul Ellis, is sharing.
To some people if what others believe about a subject is different then theirs...then they are gnostic, heretics, satanic, false teachers...etc..the purpose for calling it false-grace is to disparage the gospel of the grace of Christ....he is trying to get me to stop putting the website up because it easily refutes his theology...so he has to attack the author...it's just the nature of the beast..it goes with the territory...:)

thank you for doing what i did and go to source. to many people are judging based on what they heard, not what the person actually believes

Obviously you have not been reading the posts, not even the ones to which you reply.
I just want to leave a big frowny-face in response to this post.

Yes..thank you for this..I have never seen the "About Dr. Paul Ellis" before.... I know he posts a lot of the difficult or obscure verses in the bible and he is grace-based. Of course I don't agree with everything he says...I don't believe everything anybody says. The Lord uses different people to get different things across to us.

Here is a little from the "about him page" just to keep the slander and malice level down.
[h=1]About Dr. Paul Ellis[/h]“Reality is found in Jesus Christ.” When Paul said this to the Colossians, he was drawing a line between the shadow of death-dealing religion and the substance of a life-giving Savior.

Religion says it’s about you, but the gospel of grace declares it’s all about him. Religion says “Do, do, do,” but the good news declares “It’s done, done, done!” For too long the world has been bound by the never-ending demands of religion. True freedom is found in knowing the One whose yoke is easy and light.

Why do I write? So that you may know that the gospel is 100% good news and that life without Jesus is like a frame without a picture.

C.S. Lewis said, “Reality is something you couldn’t have guessed.” You could not have guessed that God loves you even when you’re a messed-up sinner. You could not have guessed that he holds nothing against you and longs for you to know and enjoy his love. You could not have guessed that his grace is greater than your mistakes. You could not have guessed this because God’s love is greater than you can conceive or imagine.

Life isn’t about keeping the rules or pleasing the boss or paying the bills. Real life is the adventure of learning who you truly are – a dearly-loved child of God. If your goal is to explore the vast reaches of God’s love, you’ve come to the right place!

For 10 years I led a multicultural church in Hong Kong. Growing up I never planned to be a pastor. In fact, I could think of no job I wanted less. But God ambushed me and my wife in 1999 and so began one of the best adventures of our lives.

What else? Up until the middle of 2011 I was a full professor at Hong Kong’s largest university where I taught bright PhD students. I’m a born and bred Cantabrian although I grew up in the great state of Western Australia. I’ve lived briefly in California and I now live in Auckland.

Camilla is my first, best and last wife. We were married in 1999 and each year has been better than the last. We have four amazing kids.

You just reminded me that I missed my men's group on Saturday. This has been our theme verse this year. :)

That's cool...what have you guys come up with about the meaning of " according to the elementary principles of the world"..?

Everyone here in this forum believes we are saved by grace, never by our own efforts.

The sticking point is that there are those who believe when being taught to obey God as do children of obedience, there are grace only people who teach this is being under the law. This latter group is wrong; that is all.

A lot say this, but they do not preach it.

I can say I believe I am saved by faith not works till I am blue in he face. If I follow that by proclaiming obedience is required to stay saved, I am teaching works not grace.

Well said :)

Unfortunately, we have not "dug in" too deeply but have used this verse more as an anchor as we listen to someone (forget his name) preach about philosophies the world has created. It has become more of a time to sit and listen to a professor debate science vs. Christ. I'm sure I have jotted down a few notes which might have a few nuggets of wisdom gleaned--but ultimately I am rather disappointed in this men's group's setup. It's very impersonal. Hopefully it gets better.

Sorry, but once I got started, it was easy to get on a roll. There's so many....
Like I said, do one at a time. And provide the link to the post you're quoting because the way you quoted in the first post, they do not show up.

If we put down every time we have been called a derogatory name..we would fill this thread up fast...I myself have been called a neo-gnostic greasy-gracist....a liar...he changed my name to greasy-gracist777.......we have been called the classic satanic...etc..

I have no desire to go through the threads to document this as anyone who views these threads knows all about this nonsense...I did it for him once back in December 1015 and when I gave him the option to either stop or be put on ignore..it wasn't very edifying to go back and document for him his slander...he chose to be put on ignore....I didn't want to report him and get him in trouble as he does have some good things to say on some topics.

[/B]
Why do you keep rehashing this over and over? You said you liked the names I was using, so you egged me on. Then I didn't like it, so I stopped. Now you keep bringing this up over and over. That's not what a Christian spirit goes, but it is what the spirit of a false accuser does.

And yes, I have called what you teach neo-gnostic because it is. And not one of you has been able to refute it. In fact, no one will touch it because they are afraid to.

Furthermore, I told you to put me on ignore because you were stirring up trouble because I was attacking what you teach, and I told you that I would not stop. And I do not have you on ignore. Never have.

He'd really hate for someone to take the time and go through all of his posts and dig them out. He'd end up looking like a monster. :D

Of course, none of us are guiltless. We all say similar regrettable things in the heat of debate. At least we admit it, while HeRose claims he has never done that.
Do it chicken. One at a time. I'm not afraid of you people.

Let all things be done decently and in order. 1 Corinthians 14:40

There is a virtual 1-to-1 correlation between what the Christian gnostics believed and what false-grace believers believe. I have the evidence from both parties.

There's one.
You follow them around 24/7 to know they have no fruit?
You know all about their life?
You know for certain this person never repents?
Yet, you judge people constantly.
You've visited every single thread EG participated in to know this?
You know for certain this person commits treachery for entertainment?
Just where did they ever do that?
Those are just from the first page and a half of your posts pages. I'm fairly certain there are plenty more and even worse ones. I'm also sure you can find some examples from my own posts - and the posts of others. The point being, don't slam others for the same things you are doing.
OK, I'm not going to respond to this because I requested one accusation at a time, and the way you quoted what I said, they did not show up in the post, as can be seen above. Resubmit, please. t/y

well let's do it then...been wanting to and suggesting the same from months back

I understand it can be difficult to bypass the obvious deliberate goading on...and that is the goal...the remarks are so over the top by these two especially, that really, you have to be simple not to know that is the trick being used to hook a response

I'm all for simply ignoring whatever they post

if you want different results...ie threads without the name calling and slander that certain members excel at, then you have to put a different response out

that response is just let 'em ramble...perhaps they will have a go at each other LOL!

I only posted back in here last night because of the over the top nastiness aimed at Angela and as you posted some pages back, I have certainly had my turn at the ugliness directed towards me by jens...and that was after I had been away for almost 2 months...a period in which I had to place my mother in an assisted living facility and a few other energy sucking things I had to deal with

I came back and about the first thing was jens saying personal and non-true things about me including that God had told him to go after me! Now seriously...is that even rational?

there is no hit to worry about...although I know what you mean...the Bible says that an undeserved curse does not come to rest....I have even seen posts wherein jens has posted something from the OT directly under a post from another person with the sense that he is telling them they are going to hell

if we all ignore this individual and the ever present herose, we will be doing ourselves and others the greatest favor and in the end maybe even a favor to them as well

I can only be responsible for myself and each of us the same

I would like to start threads on different subjects from time to time and I don't because I know these two will take them over

consider them speedbumps ...not a place to park

Are you answering my question by providing me with a hypothetical question?

I checked out what Paul Ellis has to say on the topic: Did Jesus Put Price tags on Forgiveness? (Matthew 6:14-15) – Escape to Reality

Allow me to highlight a couple points Ellis made:

1. "I’m going to give you three interpretations, and then you can choose."
2. "Did Jesus put price tags on forgiveness? In this passage, he does! But on the cross he paid that price on our behalf."

So Ellis presented three argument for the verse(s) in question, and left it up to the reader to decide. Ellis's personal stance is given in #2 above--and shows that Christ payed the price.

So, again -- Why do you call escapetoreality.org a "false-grace" website?
