Also, by making you righteous, God is showing Himself righteous—“to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus”. (Romans 3:26)

Each time Jesus hears you confess, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ,” it brings much pleasure to His heart too, because you are laying hold of what He suffered and died to give you.

The Holy Spirit, who now indwells you to convict you of righteousness (John 16:10), also rejoices when you confess, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ.” He is pleased when you flow with Him.

The delight of the Godhead is not the only thing you gain when you declare, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ.” The Bible tells us that when you “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…all these things shall be added to you”. (Matthew 6:33)

Whether it is food, clothing or other necessities in life, “all these things” will be added to you. They will not just be given to you, but added to you as your inheritance when you seek first His righteousness.

You don’t need to use your faith for every single need in life. You need to use your faith for one main thing—to believe that you are the righteousness of God in Christ, and it will cause all the blessings you seek to come after you and overtake you!

I can't do this...
I can come to it a different way though. :)
When I act badly, instead of condemning myself as I used to, I tell Him I'm sorry and then when the condemning voice says, how's that gonna work when you KEEP doing this over and over? I just say, you know what, shut up. He knows what I am, He knows my weaknesses, and I know His promises and HE has promised to perfect what He began in me, so He'll grow the fruit just like He said He will. So shut up and stop trying to make me think He expects from me what only HE can do.

I think I just get there a little differently in my mind. :)
 
Righteousness - right with God through Christ jesus
Justified - just as if I'd never sinned
Grace - getting what we don't deserve, not getting what we do deserve.

Its a huge thing to accept and cling onto especially when we see
ourselves messing up so much. I know I find it hard to get my head
around.

I suppose Satan doesn't have to worry about beating us up, we do it
to ourselves all the time.
 
Amen! I really like that verse you posted:

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matt 6:33

We can get so caught up with worrying about tomorrow and many other things. We can also worry about all the times we fail while taking our eyes off Him. But always being mindful of who we are in Him gives us consolation. For we are robed with His righteousness(Isa 61:10). The apostle Paul in his persecutions, had this to say about righteousness:

"Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death" Philip 3:8-10



 
This is par for the name-it-claim false-grace scam. The bible nowhere says that we are the righteousness of GOD in Christ. In fact, that is the exact opposite attitude we are to have. Christ alone is righteousness. The pharisee thanked GOD that he was righteous, but the one who was justified said:

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as [his] eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified [rather] than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Luke 18:13-14​

The false-grace scam is all about ignoring what we really are (sinners being saved through grace), and focusing only on the identity of what we want to be (righteousness of GOD). So in essence it promotes doing exactly what the pharisee did - The false-grace believer stood and prayed thus with himself, "God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men who are sin-concious or even as these legalists on CC who are condemned. I repent daily by focusing on my identity as the righteousness of GOD in Christ.

LOL. Yes, Christ alone is the Righteous One. Which means that any righteousness Christians have is derived from Him. Christ is the righteousness of God and we are in Him and partakers of His righteousness. In Him we are the righteousness of God...for He has become, for us, our righteousness (1 Cor. 1:30). You always miss the in Him part.

The only alternative to the righteousness of Christ is self-righteousness. And self-righteousness, as the Apostle Paul discovered, is nothing but garbage.

The publican showed where the door is found - GOD have mercy on me a sinner. There is no other way. The one who exalts himself is trying to enter another way and will be humbled.

2 Peter 1:5 says that we are to add to our faith, excellence. This does not mean adding the knowledge of our excellence (which doesn't exist), but adding the understanding of the most excellent life that walks within the midst of our deadness.
 
The enemy hates the talk of Christ's righteousness and what He has done for the believer in His finished work...it is the gospel of the grace of Christ.

Romans 1:16-17 (NASB)

There is a serious spiritual problem here.

The pharisee stood saying, "Thank God I am righteous not like those sinners over there"

Now the problem was they were still sinners, lost, and without communion with God. We are always humble before our Father even when we walk blamelessly before the Lord.

Now if you want to claim something that is not true, that your heart testifies to you of your problems and faults, that is hypocracy, and a lie.

I can confess, "Thank you God that you count me righteous through faith in your Son, Amen"

It is a spiritual denial of the reality to say we are righteous. It is for God to declare us righteous, but we will never know, because unknown sin, unseen issues can dwell in our hearts. All we can do is walk faithfully and follow.

I will never be the righteousness of God in Christ. I will be the redeemed in Christ, His firstfruits, washed, purified and cleansed, which is very different.

There is a small line between presumption and boldness. The Lord provides boldness but not presumption.
This is a prayer said by millions of Christians over the centuries that sums it up very well.

We do not presume to come to this thy Table (O merciful Lord) trusting in our own righteousness, but in thy manifold and great mercies. We be not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under thy Table. But thou art the same Lord, whose property is always to have mercy: Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the Flesh of thy dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his Blood, in these holy Mysteries, that we may continually dwell in him, and he in us, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his Body, and our souls washed through his most precious Blood. Amen.
