I agree with what you said too. Sin to me is not seeing the life of Christ that is in the real us - the new creation in Christ. We are ignorant of the life of Christ in us and thus we "try" to create our own ways and life apart from faith in Jesus.

Even if we do sin - we are still "in Christ". We do not walk in and out of "being in Christ". This hope and truth will encourage us to run to our Father at the throne of grace.

Awaking to righteousness helps us to "sin not".....the gift of righteousness is mandatory to receiving life .

I like this verse. It seems that having an attitude of not knowing cleanses sin.

Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would not have sin. But now you say, ‘We see,’ therefore your sin remains. John 9:41​

Well, I think we agree but are putting it differently...
When I stop abiding(trusting) in Him, I sin.
I have left my rest.
He is faithful to bring me back. He comes looking for me in the cool of the day and says, Jen, where are you?
Of course, that's where it gets tricky, because men wonder about whether my going off and not remaining in Him and turning instead to my own work means I'll go to hell if a train hits me. But I just reckon God will delay the train until He gets me abiding again. :)

Yes, I think leaving our rest in His finished work - things go get out of whack! He is patient with us too and shows us to start to trusting in what He has done for us.

Some people view the term "abide" to mean ...for example...if you were not trusting God in your example..then you lose your salvation because to them "abiding" is a work you must do. To me "abiding" is a promise of "being in Christ".

We do not go in and out of "being in Christ"...either we are in Christ or we are not.

We don't change from a sheep to a goat because we sin....then back to a sheep again when we don't sin...we never change species and there are no "shoats".

Instead of writing a lot on this..here is a link that discusses about abiding ..it's all in the "lens" one uses.....good comments are at the bottom as people ask questions ..I find those helpful as well..

We don't go in and out positionally; in that we are secure. But we can, and do, walk outside of Christ when we choose to obey the flesh. The person in your link doesn't know what he's talking about.

Yes..I agree. It is good to have our hearts established by grace. When we know the truth ..that Truth sets us free! Whenever Jesus is lifted up and His work is glorified - that is a sign to me of Truth as the truth is Jesus.

Can't you feel more strengthen in the Lord when you read the truth about Him and what He has really already done for us?..I do..it makes me love and trust Him more....He is mighty to save!

I'm torn between wishing I could have read that article years ago to save myself the grief of the back and forth and thinking, nah, if I'd read it I probably wouldn't have understood it until He got me there Himself.

But my blindness being healed was more like the man who said, well...I THINK I see trees but...no, they can't be trees because trees don't move that way...they must be men...

Then Jesus tinkered some more and he saw very clearly then.
I used to wonder what the story meant because surely it doesn't take two tries for Jesus to get a healing right!
But some men rush off shouting I can see! I can see!
Others come back to Jesus and spend some more time with Him.

I know what you mean...the Lord gave me these 2 scriptures when thinking about "what if's..in the past"...I speak these out a lot. His word is a lamp unto our feet.

Amen! Right after the declaration that we are saved by grace, through faith, we read that we are to walk in good works serving the Lord.

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." Eph 2:10

"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." 1 Cor 15:58

Us grace believers do advocate the necessity to do good works in the Christian life, but of course, there will always be those who falsely say we are giving a license for sin!

"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" Rom 6:1-2
 
I want to add the scripture for my earlier post,

For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God, "put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge", [SUP]15 [/SUP]And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.


I am more than thankful, I am overcome, fully persuaded, pre-occupied and lead by the Spirit with joy in the assurance of my salvation and knowledge of the truth, come Lord Jesus, all day everyday, we don't have to wait until the end.

Adding to post #93 as encouragement to my brethren:

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds." Heb 12:1-3

Christ endured the cross for us, let us likewise deny ourselves and take up our cross daily and follow Him(Luke 9:23). Whenever your walk becomes unbearable, "consider Him" in all things! Always be mindful of all He has done to redeem you! For the Scripture says:

"Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it." 1 Thess 5:24
 
I wish I could not just say this but believe it and live it, I know God sees me in this way in fact I bet he sees the opposite of pretty much everything I see about myself. I am sure that one day I will be able to see myself as he does but I am unable to as of now, however I will say this if I am righteous if I do have virtuous I won't say it I will let his light shine and speak for me, whether I am righteous clean pure holy I want him to speak of it I want it to shine in and to spark the flame in others hearts not me saying it.

I adore and am amazed what Jesus did, he is the king of kings the Lord of Lords and yet he knowing who he was lowered himself to the point no one would know who was by appearance. out all the kings there ever were I have never heard of a king doing this

Covenantally, GOD sees me in Christ and clothed in his righteousness. If I abide in Christ, that's what he sees. If I walk outside of Christ, he sees my sin and commands that I return for cleansing.

Ok, but here's the deal.... when we were IN Adam - his sin was IMPUTED to us at birth so no matter the good works we wanted to do, they didn't matter since we were IN Adam.,IN sin and condemned already. We were dead to God and alive to sin. Our old man was our identity.,our righteousness is no righteousness. The Bible calls them filthy rags.

But when we received Christ, we were IMPUTED HIS righteousness and brought into the family of God becoming sons and saints. No longer to be called sinners found IN Adam but instead sons found IN Christ. IMPUTED RIGHTEOUSNESS is ours for real across the board.

We are Righteous IN Christ now no longer sinners IN Adam. When those 8 souls were on Noah's Ark, they were safe but everyone else perished because everyone else was not IN the Ark. If they did anything right or wrong, they did it in the safety of the Ark. Jesus is the Ark of safety. We need the Ark of safety or we drowned.
