I said what I meant to say. I'm neither for nor against money. But I'll trust someone more who didn't get most of his money by "preaching the gospel," I'll trust someone more about what he preaches if it weren't always the prosperity message instead of the real message, and I'll trust someone more if he practiced what he preaches. Tell me he isn't rich and he didn't make his money over books about the prosperity message. Poor people just don't get carted off to different countries by private lear jet to preach God's message. And believers wouldn't be preaching along side Joel Olsteen, they'd be preaching to Joel Olsteen.

I don't trust the guy nor his message. A good lie is always wrapped up in 90% truth. It's the other 10% that's the problem.

Let's just focus on the truth of the Lord Jesus in the OP and not on slander and personal dislike for a certain type of person...thank you...we would appreciate it...:)

I believe the Lord will give wealth to those that are kingdom minded so that they can be a blessing to others.
Really? Then Jesus, Peter, Paul, Barnabas, Timothy, James, Jude, John, etc. weren't kingdom minded enough?

Bill Gates honestly tries to give away all his money and he's not a believer. How much does Prince give?

Sure. The truth is we need to trust God more. Money is a thing. Now, if you want to focus more on the gospel then stop making it about money.

It's funny that when the Israelites left their bondage, they were suddenly very wealthy it sounds like. The Egyptians were throwing jewelry and wealth at them and saying, Go! Just go!

But...that probably added a lot of weight to their backpacks and it was useless to them! There are no drive-thrus in the desert!
No, there were no drive-thrus. But there were other nations that lived there that they could trade with. They needed a whole lot of frankincense to keep the aroma on the altar going 24/7, and I doubt they took that much tree sap with them. lol

I have to say that I agree that some pastors make way more money then I have or ever will see in my life time. It has made think many times why do they have so much or why to some flaunt their wealth. I am not going to name anyone but How do they live with themselves knowing that their town is full of homeless people who have nothing while they sit back in their 4 plus bedroom homes.
I am not saying that these pastors are doing this either but anyone can start a church to get tax free status and make money etc now days. it is awful that people feel the need to get rich off of sharing God word. to each his own though I personally think money can be the route of a lot of evil. Obviously we need it to survive

The article said that he was not in the top 10 and that his net worth was substantially lower then what was reported.

I believe the Lord will give wealth to those that are kingdom minded so that they can be a blessing to others.

The OP is not about a man but in trusting in Jesus for everything and not money. Let's keep the focus on the Lord here ....thank you..

yup

I have not mentioned this before in this forum, but my grandfather was a millionaire...a self made man if you will, seeing as he came over from Europe just prior to WW II and had to work ONE year before he could send for his wife and 3 daughters back in Europe.

Eventually, he became very rich...had his own stores...factory...in Montreal...and almost the whole family worked there (that's not always a good idea, but anyway)

I have had money and I have had not much money. Somehow, the Lord has always pulled me through EVERY situation and He takes care of me because I trust not in what I have or had, but IN HIM!!

Now that is just how it is...there will always be people with money and as Jesus said, we will always have the poor with us

I'm not rich now...but I have all I need...not always what I want LOL!...but I am an impatient person by nature, so God knows how to pull on the reins and answer our prayers in spite of ourselves.

My desire has always been to know God as He IS...not how people envision Him or attempt to manipulate Him into their own vision or understanding...listen..God answers that prayer...He will ALWAYS answer a prayer in the affirmative that is His will

It is NOT His will for us to tear each apart and think ourselves better...cause when you all start pointing fingers, you are doing so because you somehow imagine yourself better...yeah that hurts, I know, but it is the truth

Much of what I have suffered in this life, has been an account of my own impulsiveness and 'let's do it right now!' attitude.

Do any of you imagine that the man or woman you see up front was suddenly transported there and became rich and famous overnight?

Try that some time and see how it works for you

Not everyone who has some ginormous ministry is of God...but some are

What can God entrust YOU (generic you) with today?

The Bible tells us clearly not to put our trust in money. Our eyes should never be on money and money should never be our goal.

It is unwise to put your trust in uncertain riches. Rather, turn your eyes upon and put your trust completely
in the person of Jesus. Don’t make the mistake of pursuing the provision and missing the Provider.

The Word declares that it is the Lord who gives and provides us all that we need for our enjoyment.

Beloved,
when you have Jesus, you have everything. You have peace, righteousness, forgiveness, wisdom, health, power, provision, favor and every blessing. Now, this is true prosperity and good success.

So anchor yourself on Him and not on material things, and enjoy the security and unshakable peace that is found only in Jesus
!

Grace Inspirations Joseph Prince Ministries

When it comes to having riches or having 'things' I've found God is the one who has and will provide those things for me. Not by my striving and worrying to meet the needs here. For paying bills and having a home and all that goes with that responsibility. A learning experience in the path of life.

I'm not supposed to worry about this even when the situation seems impossible. To not look at the surroundings of these problems in the natural and wrack my brain for a solution. But to instead look for a miracle. To allow God to take an impossible situation and turn it around. To give God the opportunity to show up instead of me rushing in to save my day. Do any of you go through this? Having to stop yourself from trying to save your day?

These challenges have come up often for me as a working woman. And each time it's a learning process to keep trusting the Good Shepherd to lead me beside the still waters. And He has kept leading to the still and peaceful waters and restoring my soul to faith.

Then He lets there be time to walk in His provision, and new things come about IN the provision here in the day to day of life that challenge the faith in Him yet again. Either He will take care of me or I will take care of myself. There is always that choice put before me. Will money and the striving for it solve my problem of paying the bills? Will it give me security or will Jesus be my problem solver and my security?

This applies to all aspects of life I am finding. Whether it be for health or sustaining power to keep on keeping on in life. For wisdom to live and make right choices and to receive grace when stupid choices were made., and not receive condemnation. This is the daily walk. He keeps coming through so I am actually forced to step out and walk on the water by faith.

He is faithful and will not allow my feet to slip. faithful who calls you and will do it... where is that verse....

1 Thess.5:24 Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass. NAS

Faithful is He Who is calling you (to Himself) and utterly trustworthy, and He will also do it (fulfill His call by hallowing and keeping you.) Amplified Bible.

I like the versions that say He will DO it.

These verses come to mind from down in the memory banks. I remember the words - He will DO IT. I believe it is the Holy Spirit bringing His Word to my memory. We believers will get by having the Word of God hidden in their hearts. He actually does that as we read His Word. He puts it in our memory banks I believe. And then it gets USED when we need it. Somehow the Holy Spirit brings it up to our conscience mind what we have read before from the Bible.

Thank you ember. :D Just when I think the lesson is learned.....just as the days are going by in a steady flow and it's been like that for a while, I know it's a gift from Jesus. He knows we need to walk in some sameness for a while. Then as the days move on a new challenge is put before us in life. Life never stays the same. But He does.

ember., I'm (good) envious of you that you have had success in the waiting. I want to wait well too and not jump the gun. Have you noticed the stakes seem higher each time? Am finding that in the wanting a real hands on walk with Jesus., the aspects of it are also real... it's where the rubber meets the road sort of living now., there is no turning back. :D (no turning back, no turning back...the world behind me the cross before me....)

Stepping out and believing. Not picturing the days ahead and the request not answered. THAT is the challenge; to NOT even go there. But to have a positive expectation of good. Faith believing before seeing.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance the confirmation, he title deed of the things we hope for being the proof of things we do not see and the conviction of their reality (faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses).

I'm awaiting a miracle. :) Sometimes journaling or typing here spurs me along to keep on keeping on. Times like this is when I see the major lack in my life for a church where brothers and sisters in Christ are and meet regularly. Not sure how brother Yet can want to stay away. Being with other believers is a major gift God has given us for such times as these. We were not meant to walk alone.

1 Timothy 6:

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

1 Tim 6:6 is one of my favorite verses in Scripture.

godliness is so vital to us. it speaks of an intimate, vital, living relationship with God. what more do we need than to be at peace with God?

From Adam Clarke commentary:
The word godliness, ευσεβεια, here, and in several other places of this epistle, signifies the true religion, Christianity; and the word contentment, αυταρκεια, signifies a competency, a sufficiency; that measure or portion of secular things which is necessary for the support of life, while the great work of regeneration is carrying on in the soul. Not what this or the other person may deem a competency, but what is necessary for the mere purposes of life in reference to another world; food, raiment, and lodging. See 1 Timothy 6:7. So, if a man have the life of God in his soul, and just a sufficiency of food and raiment to preserve and not burden life, he has what God calls great gain, an abundant portion.
It requires but little of this world's goods to satisfy a man who feels himself to be a citizen of another country, and knows that this is not his rest.

From Adam Clarke commentary:

Yes...but He also challenges us with the gifts He does give. If He is going to use us to help people He has to be able to trust us with the goods. I think it might be easier for some to just have the minimum and have enough so they don't have to think about how to use it. It already has a place to go. Just put it on auto pay in your bank account and leave.

But I truly believe God wants us to step out and do more for Him if we are available. If you have been blessed (and many believers are) we are challenged to bless others with the blessings we have been blessed with. We are responsible to learn how to best use the blessings He gave us to be good stewards
of the goods. This is also a good thing and not something to shun or fear. Blessed to BE a blessing.

When I've been blessed, it has been joyfully overwhelming even. I now see it takes planning. Not always impulsive actions but thought and purpose on how to be a blessing after being blessed. There is more to it than we first thought. It's not only about us getting our prayers and needs met. He gives us blessings so we can also learn how to be like Him with our blessings.

And we have good instruction in Romans 12 as to how we are to utilize the things God has gifted to us:

Romans 12:

6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;

8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

Right. Romans 12 is not an exhaustive list of all the gifts God has blessed each and every one of us with. The point is whatever is your (or my) gift, use it to bless others. We all have gifts "differing according to the grace that is given to us". That is God's prerogative … to gift as He sees fit.

Our response is to "gift" others as God has "gifted" us.

sorry I'm so late getting back here...missed the thread and yr response...:(

sounds like we could have some good discussions...my thing is living out my belief as well...how does what I say I believe translate, cause it had better translate! Trust me, I am no one to be envious of...but I guess I know what you mean by that

I so understand what you state about other believers....I think our hearts long to be with those who are like minded and as we can see right here even, that's not a given lol!

about waiting...what was it Paul said? about not sinning because of the consequences (pain)...verse about that somewhere...like a kid learning not to touch the hot stove...not cause mommy or daddy said don"t do it...but because they did it and now can't stop crying? I'm a multiple hot stove toucher...it hurts...God please...help! etc

and then we have the enforced patience because you want God's will and you have no choice but to wait, and just to help you out some, He made sure you had no choice. right. well thank you very much for that. LOL!

so yeah...as they say, I'm no hero...but God IS real and certainly real to me and walking in that, is where I want to be

it's also a time of testing, right? as we go along, we go through enough to become more sure of the road we are on and it gets easier to continue. I used to be the most bored person on earth if something wasn't going on and if it wasn't going on, I had to make it go on...not always a good idea haha

so, don't anyone picture this pious little sweetheart just patiently waiting...cause God has some real big elastic bands connected to me..LOL!

Hi ember. Didn't know you posted. I miss many posts like this. Been on CC since 2013 it says and still don't know my way around here as some of these young people who just came on last week! :)

Yes, we would have some good discussions wouldn't we!! I'm headed out the door right now but will get back to posting later. The biggest revelation recently that has changed my walk with Jesus is finding God is that good and that kind. He is not out to zap us or condemn us. He won't do either. He has a never ending source of love and patience for us and wants to show us. So many of us have an idea of what God is like from our upbringing and need a mind makeover.

Adam and Eve didn't believe God was that good and 'that' for them. They suspected God was holding out on them so they moved out on their own to take care of themselves. When all along they had everything they needed or ever could want., AND would be given more as time went on as they got to know Him better.

It's so good to know one of the many reasons we are to learn is to grow to see Him more clearly. That the job of the Holy Spirit is to reveal Jesus to us. To renew our minds. And that those things are already there. We have His wisdom but have to learn how to access it by the renewing of our minds.
All very interesting subjects.. Blessings sissy!
