Just wanted to get something off my chest. I totally know God loves me and has amazing plan and purpose for me. Favorite all time verse is Jeremiah 29:11. But has anyone feel like your the odd person out. Like people talk about you behind your back or you walk into a room and you can tell people are talking about you and they change the subject or say something that u kind of know its about you. Or get picked on because your different or new person in school or group? Its not really bullying or anything like that...but maybe borderline. How do some of y'all overcome or coupe with it? I try not to bring me down or focus too much about it. Usually look to God and read some uplifting verses or music or play sports. But just trying to see what others do. Thanks! :)

It's just in your mind. Other people have their own troubles to think about than care about other people. Don't mind them, just mind your own business. You dont need others for validation. It must come from within so others will also see your worth.

Yes that happened to me when I was a teen and it was not in my mind. They just said it. One guy, he was one of the popular ones, can't even remember what they said and they had so much fun making fun of me at a birthday. I was extremely shy. Lol but I just went to a week in a monastry with a few other odd ones out and came back and we put this praise music on in class and he had been poking fun, haha the nutcases are going to this idiotic christian thing. Then he heard the music and said: hey how was that week? Were you guys just having a great time while we were going to this boring school? After that they didn't laugh about me anymore.

It's ok to feel hurt by that kind of behavior; it really is. Go ahead...feel hurt by it. If you're me you pray about it, have a good cry and let it go. However, like Tinkerbell said, I think it's often imagined. Let's face it: human beings are selfish (everyone of us) and SO often we say/do something that we never even thought about, and hurting that person was the LAST thing had in mind. We just frankly don't think what our words would sound like to others. I've sat opposite one of the sweetest girls I've ever seen, and got an absolute raking of my feelings. Shocked, I looked at her and realized that she hadn't a clue. She never even knew she hurt me. She didn't even THINK of it that way.

Of course, there will be people who deliberately hurt you, but really, that's less than anyone would suppose.

I was a grown man (though still young) when I was finally baptized. And this little story I am going to tell you was made even tougher because I was fairly dependent upon the fact that I was a badass, and used it somewhat to be noticed and what I thought was, "respected."

Like most new Christians, I ran my mouth about my new-found "Christianity." I probably made people sick.

It was the end of a work day on a construction job, and unbeknown to me, the other guys had tacked together a cross, and erected it on the roof of a house we were working on. I was low man on the crew, so it was my task to collect cords while everyone else headed to their cars to go home.

I climbed a ladder to get a cord up there, and saw the makeshift cross. I just sat there on the roof, crying like a baby. Man to man, I would have known how to bluster my way past that. But alone, up there with everyone else driving out, jeering and honking... it just felt like a knife in my chest.

I must have stayed up there for a half an hour.

The only thing that got me through it was that while feeling sorry for myself and asking God, "Why?", I got the impression He gave me this in answer: "It was lonely for me too, hanging naked and bleeding up there on the real cross."

Somehow, from that time on, their words didn't seem to hurt as much. (and.... I also quit acting like such a religious big-mouth around them.)

Did they change? Not much. But, from that day forward, I began to understand that I had been looking for their acceptance........ and I didn't need it.

Don't know if this helps you any, but it made things easier for me to handle.

Recently, I saw a nurse. I immediately laughed. Not at her, but the sweatshirt she was wearing. It said WEIRD in a funny way. My sense of humor and it describes me completely.

She told me the story behind it. Her 13 year old daughter was being bullied at school, and she was being called weird. (Of course it hurt.) So, she went home and silk screened a shirt with the word on it and wore it to school. Next thing she knew, her bullies where buying her "weird" sweatshirts.

It's really hard to take it personally about being the laughingstock of the group when you're making everyone laugh with you.

(Besides. Unless they're actually laughing, you're not the laughingstock.)
