I've posted this here as BDF seems to be the most popular place for trolls.

But here are a few of the comments from trolls on other website forums.
I've bleeped out the bad language. Just posting this so people will see what kind
of people are out there, the more successful CC becomes, the worse it will get.

Some deliberately target CC.

Maybe it would be better to identify such people earlier and just not bother responding
although I must admit that sometimes I can't resist posting a "whaaaat" post.

Hope this does not cause offence by the way, it is just a bit of an eye opener if you
have not seen comments like these before. These people aren't bothered whether they
make sense or not, or what you say to them. They just want to create as much harm
and cause as many arguments as possible. They are not bothered about your well being
or the accuracy of their posts. They twist and distort the bible. It does not matter what
you say to them, they just laugh in the face of your comments.

Maybe something like this should be a sticky at the start of each forum to make everybody
aware of this problem.

Ephesians 6:12 NKJV
[12] For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of
wickedness in the heavenly places.

------

I troll the # out of them but Christian chat rooms seem to be closing faster
than Radio Shack. There are # few left to troll and I see this as a good sign.
Since I published an article in August 2012several Christian chat rooms have
bitten the dust. I would go to these rooms and # with them. I would create
fights regarding doctrine but mostly I'd post scripture that they wish did not exist.
As usual they would say it was "out of context" (those ####) but why asked
would never explain why or how. Did I mention that I hate lying ######?

I have been IP banned from several sites and servers for my "trolling". To a
Christian, asking hard questions and posting scripture that supports doctrine
different than their's is trolling. Make me wish I had the skills of Anonymous and
while I am against censorship I would have no problem censoring censors.
Here the article I wrote on trolling chat rooms. I'd like to troll Muslims but I
would not do it without anonymity.

--------

Update! This currently is the most active Christian Chat Room.
Troll smart troll hard! Christian Chat Net - 24/7 Christian Chat with people
all over the world!

The above chat room is full of very ignorant # and arrogant know it alls. Calvinisim
really sends them for a loop. Salvation by grace is another topic that gets them riled
up. Most Christians are the John 3:16 variety. They believe that simply believing
that Jesus is God get you a free pass to heaven in spite of what an # you have
been in your life but of course the Bible contradicts that.

---------

Christians ### and they are #### annoying. They are also as dishonest as a Mitt
Romney political ad. The fun thing about Christians is when it comes to the Bible
they don't #### so it is really easy to #### with them.

If these smug pious hypocrites ##### with their evil lying and hypocrisy then pay
them a visit and ask them some tough questions. The best place to #### with
them are in Christian chat rooms.

Trolling religious people is a way to keep our sanity when bible dehumanizes,
humiliates, degrades us for being atheists = merely for not believing in god
(who's allegedly all loving and all forgiving) Lots of our friends and even families
worship THIS VERY BOOK and praise the author, calling him "divine" and "benevolent".
These of us who happen to be not straight, bible calls "ABOMINATIONS" and says
we deserve to be killed - again THIS is the book christians consider holy and use
as their moral compass - accusing US of having no values and no morals.
THAT IS WHY WE TROLL.

yeah.....I've seen stuff like that in other forums

they go out of their way...sad little imps

I agree that trolls should not be given lunch....no point to argue with 'em...I just usually make funny remarks or what have you...maybe I shouldn't do that either.......:(...:p

then we also have the ..cough cough...prophets who show up from time to time, convinced they are God's special person for the moment

Oh well, it gives opportunity to expose nonsense next to the truth of Scripture...even if the questions are pretentious.

[h=1]Matthew 13:24-30New King James Version (NKJV)[/h][h=3]The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares[/h]24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”

And we still feed the trolls...

They are a type of forum terrorists, using dissension instead of fear as their weapon.

And we let them do it... we should be wiser than that.

Nice parable but I don't think it's about banning and not feeding trolls. I used to go to another forum where, not sure if it's true, but I read that the owner was a troll himself and the dream God gave me about him and how they treated those trolls vs christians, banning christians who talked about deliverance, evangelisation, helping people in need (only psychiatry was allowed, otherwise you got a warning), I got banned while sharing my testimony to atheists, hmmmm. Well anyways if you let them the christians will leave. There was a whole exodus there. It's like: leave Babylon. It was toxic. I told them you'd ban Jesus Himself. The others could just say what they wanted.

I think the point was that sometimes when you try to identify them you end up rooting out the innocent ones, like young Christians asking naieve questions.

Well I prefer posting in forums than being in chat rooms I can express myself much better in written form but I would like to speak with these ppl who post such things.
I have experience in dealing with such people their main goal to fan the flames stirr the pot they relish in us reacting on our emotions and getting a rise out of us wich they are never able to do with me. I have actually spoken with some who came to cc to troll having the usual worldly mindset that Christians are arrogant prideful hypocritical judgemental bible thumpers who never practice what they preach who speak so often of the love of God but never show this love and some of them by speaking calmly and showing only kindness in my responses to them left cc with a different view. Maybe not for all Christians but I have met some of them on other forums they recognized my words and how I speak and we got to talking and they told me how I was a prime example of what a Christian should be and that while they were nowhere near convinced that God is real they saw a person who practiced what they preached.

I never could take credit for it because it wasn't my doing God is the one who molded my heart he was the one who showed me and taught me how to speak and react to attacks. None of us really see or know exactly how far a single post a single reaction can go in a persons heart, which is why I always speak with trolls even knowing they will likely be banned soon a humble heart has more power in it than a heart that proves themselves right and I have seen the truth of this statement with my own eyes

I'm not saying you do this, crossnote, but one thing I notice alot here, is when new christians ask questions that may seem dumb, or trollish, people ridicule them for asking. I'm a christian of several decades and I still ask dumb questions about the bible..lol :) IMO, the ONLY dumb questions are the ones that remain UNasked. So instead of giving a reply like, "that's a silly question", we should instead attempt to give an answer that is helpful to that new christian, or maybe refer them elsewhere to someone who knows more about what they're asking.

Sometimes I post a scripture just because it seems pertinent to the conversation. If I don't post a personal comment with it ... it usually just means I'm bringing God's words to the table to be factored in however one feels moved to do so. Holy Spirit brings scripture to remembrance. Sometimes I even have no idea how it really factors in myself. As was the case this time.

But what you said Crossnote is a concern for me, personally. I think some consideration should be taken ... some investigations should be made BEFORE the witch hunts begin ..................... even then, I don't believe in witch hunts ... a quiet banning would suffice, I feel.

I don't like the chat rooms here. You go in, and if you ask a question, get completely ignore like they don't see or hear you. IMO, the chat rooms here are just as cliquish and snobby as some of the forums are..

I fully agree with what you are saying. There is never a good reason to be hostile, especially to a new member that is seeking the truth and wants to have Christian fellowship. This site should be a safe haven and not a hostile environment.

Hello hornetguy

I think there was one here yesterday.

I must admit, sometimes I have to hold my tongue In order to not respond, at first I'm not suspicious then I notice negativity In their responses whether the person they are replying to, said something good or bad.

It should be fairly evident in a relatively short number of posts if we have a troll or not. I can't speak for anyone else, but if it becomes clear to me because of abusive or nonsense language or lack sincerity or overly aggressive replies, or a combination of all the above, I am not going to continue. First, my time is to valuable to me. Like all of us, I pray, read the word, have daily responsibilities and personal things I like to do.
Our task is to spread the word. Not convince anyone that they have to believe. BDF can be intellectually engaging, and fun, and sometimes even a entertaining place to exchange ideas, have some conversation, but when it becomes clear that the other person has no genuine interest in hearing us, or they become contentious, then God is not in it.
The BDF, at its ideal, is about edifying and building up.
The devil loves to keep us busy with things that are not about God.
For me, when the word and spirit of God is gone out of it, that is when it is time to move off that thread.

Oh okay, but those won't be abusive and name calling. Those are not trolls. I have witnessed to people who I knew were just trolling around, they said that on their own atheist forum, but those were decent and normal, so I only knew that type tbh. Eeww I didn't know these as in the OP also existed. I think you should at least draw a line and not respond when they become abusive and name calling. And if it was not a troll, well everyone may learn to speak normal.

There are very few here whom I would say have never trolled. However, acting like a troll from time to time does not make one a troll. Or does it? I cannot tell you how often I have seen people complaining about how mean and nasty people are here, and yet some of those same people are mean and nasty to others when they find reason to be by their own justifications and rationalizations. I have seen all manner of nonsense defended here. For me it boils down to the sin issue, and the fact that we live in a fallen world. Everyone wants to be treated with respect and consideration, but how willingly do we extend this esteem to others? Those who specifically come here to troll us have their reasons. Some of us may have had the very same or similar reasons at some point before we were saved.

Does this work the same way if we replace troll with "insane?" Yesterday someone truly insane was banned from CC. Should he have been? I have absolutely no idea, although I lean towards yes. I just can't wrap how I feel with how God deals with insanity. (And does God think we're all insane? We can't/won't do his will of our own accord. Isn't that insane?)

The other side of the coin on the question of trolls is how quickly someone is labeled a troll. If Jack (apparently the king of past trolls) really showed up as often as it is purported he does show up, he is one very busy man! I have labeled two different people a particular troll I saw on here over the Easter weekend. Ends up if that is the same person, he has two distinct personalities. (I do still think one is, but I was wrong on the other.) So we're all guilty of calling a person a troll before determining trollishness. Considering I don't think insane equals troll, I'm hard pressed to think not feeding the people we think are trolls is a good idea.

And then again, what do we do with insane people when they come? (And this is not a place to start another nitpick session on defending the mentally disabled. There is a distinct difference between a mental disability and being completely insane. Albeit, this very much does have to do with we do have some that are too far from reality to get a handle on, and maybe they're not always up to completely insane.)

Are we trying to divide wheat from tares? And if that's it, don't we have enough of that already to the detriment of this forum?
