Woman in our church was bipolar and she had 4 other mental illnesses. She got faith when she saw the change in me. She got prayer, she was also morbidly obese. Psychiater said she didn't need to come back. You're a healthy woman and she's thin now.

My ex/pastor made an appointment for the psychologist and went there with my son. Next week he had to come back and get pills. He was not literally hearing voices, but those strong demonic thoughts all the time. Got prayer a lot but still had it and it was horrible. I used to have that too.
So I come over and ask my ex if he wanted to kill his son too now.
Lol he kicked me out of the house.
Said to my son: tell your dad you're healed.
But then I lie.
No it's the truth. God's Word says it. By His stripes you are healed.
He did, dad didn't believe it at first. Within a week it was totally gone and he didn't need to go to the psychologist anymore.
Yesterday: Who has a testimony?
Well says my son, in school I couldn't read the words from a distance, so the teacher said I needed glasses. I had to read it again last wednesday, so I prayed in my head for 20 seconds and I could read it all.

In 2014, Americans were written a total of 4.33 billion prescriptions.
For a population of only 319 million, that number is staggering.

It pulls the average number of prescriptions per person up to 13.5.
And with each passing year, these numbers are climbing, making
the pharmaceutical industry ever larger and more powerful.

Are You At Risk—From Your Meds?

These expensive drugs often provide users with relief from some symptoms.
But they also carry a host of health risks. About 16 percent of all hospital
admissions are related to adverse reactions to prescription drugs.

Women are at particularly high risk of complications from pharmaceuticals.
That is in large part because although women take the majority of
prescription drugs, many drugs are only ever tested on men.

And here’s the big one: Pharmaceuticals—used as prescribed
—are the fourth-leading cause of death for Americans.

That puts medication-induced deaths ahead of diabetes, car accidents and aids.
The death rate for prescription drugs is 10 times higher than the number of
people killed by illegal drugs.

Patient advocate Lisa Bloomquist says that, in far too many cases,
“the pharmaceutical industry has effectively taken an acute problem
… and converted it into a chronic problem.” She says these chronic problems
“mean repeat customers, and the pharmaceutical industry makes billions.”

In light of these risks, patients should ask their doctors some questions
before blithely following all recommendations to take pharmaceuticals.

‘What’s the NNT?’

First, a patient should ask the doctor about a statistic called the nnt,
or the “Number-Needed-to-Treat.”

The nnt is a piece of data doctors and pharmaceutical companies generally don’t
like to discuss. It describes the number of people who need to take a certain drug
in order for one of them to be helped by it.

Consider the example of statin. Statin is a class of drug routinely prescribed to
lower patients’ cholesterol levels. But the nnt for the most widely prescribed
statin is a jaw-dropping 250. That means for every 250 people taking it,
statin helps only one person.

Dr. Jerome R. Hoffman, professor of clinical medicine at the University of California,
Los Angeles, explained: “What if you put 250 people in a room and told them they
would each pay $1,000 a year for a drug they would have to take every day …
and that 249 would have no benefit? And that they could do just as well by exercising?
How many would take that drug?”

Statin has an unusually high nnt, but GlaxoSmithKline estimates that 90 percent of
all prescription drugs work for only 30 to 50 percent of people taking them.

And in many cases, the effects of your medications are far worse than neutral.
That leads to the second question a patient should ask.

‘What Are the Side Effects?’

Before agreeing to a new prescription, a patient should also ask the doctor about
the drug’s side effects and the percentage of people who suffer from them.

To stick with the example of statin, the side effects are serious. They include joint
pain, muscle pain and gastrointestinal distress. These are known to affect about 5
percent of people taking the drug. (In severe cases, it can also cause muscle
breakdown and type-2 diabetes.)

So, if you add the side-effect percentage to the nnt, you see that for every 250 people
taking the most-widely prescribed statin, just one person is helped, while more than
a dozen suffer side effects. This means each individual patient is 12.5 times more likely
to be harmed than to be aided by the drug.

‘Doctor, Is the Drug Company Paying You?’

Unlike the situation with most products, consumers can’t buy pharmaceuticals unless they
have a doctor’s approval. So the pharmaceutical companies know that doctors are the ones
who actually have the power to get their drugs off the shelves and into patients’ medicine cabinets.
So companies channel the bulk of their marketing directly to health-care professionals.

‘How Can I Do My Part?’

A final question you should ask is directed less at your doctor than at yourself.

It is: What long-term changes could I make in my diet, exercise, and other lifestyle
habits that could improve my health without pharmaceuticals? These kinds of changes
often can be difficult, but they can make massive improvements in our lives.

But take note: The side effects of this approach can include higher quality of life,
clarity of thought, a larger savings account balance and a more abundant life.

God can use medicine, and I know for a fact my daughter who is on psychiatric meds does much better than if she wasn't. In fact she would be on disability if she didn't take them. She would rather be a productive person than do that, and she has found a very good psychiatrist who has gotten them meds and doses right for her.

If a seizure disorder falls under the term of "mental health", I developed a seizure disorder about 10 years ago, and then had 3 grand mal seizures about 4-5 years ago. I had those 3 over the course of 2 years while I was trying to take care of things as naturally as possible. Unfortunately, that didn't work. I've been on an anti-seizure medication since then and it's stopped the seizures. I went through several months of strong apathy and borderline depressions, but that stopped because of a change in dosage. I pray that someday God will make it so I don't need it at all.

Medication is fine, as long as it doesn't become a addiction or a default replacement for God's healing.

Yes, I had seizures a few years back and other problems as well that I never had before. Like paralyzed diaphragm and all sort of good stuff. But now I doesn't has that problem anymore. But all I had done was to put myself on an non-gmo diet and everything went back to normal. In order for the diaphragm to become paralyzed, has to deal with neurological disorder and it is a scary thing to have. Imagine waking up unable to exhale or even inhaled, no air will be able to not come in and out, you are unable to call for help because you need air to activate the vocal cords. Just imagine how many babies that have had this problem; what a way to leave this world. I believe if you go on an organic diet, then you will feel a lot better without these meds that these gmo creators had created.. But keep on putting your faith in man over God.

I think it's good for such things, if it's really physical and it's real medicine. But now they say anything is a sickness or it's your brain while it's just sin and/or demonic oppression.

I was misdiagnosed and put on that effexor many years back, I was pretty out of touch concerning the epidemic of mind skittles some of these doctors were prescribing at the time, after the incident I got more in touch with just how many people were being prescribed these things. Not being someone who frequently visits the doctor, I didnt ask any questions just got the presciption filled (hoping that would be that). But that was not paradise on earth to get off for me. Not that it made me an addict it just has some x file sort of side effects when I began to stop taking it. You can probably google effexor and nightmares, they do mention how VIVID they are they should add CREEPY (and that is being kind) I felt like I was living out that Freddy Kruegger movie from the 80's in my own head when I would go to sleep. I wasnt too sure they would end at all. In 7 days exactly they ceased, although I could only sleep 3 days of those seven because I was terrified to go to sleep. But its always been easy for me to sleep one day and not the next, that whole experience is impossible to describe without appearing to be over exagerating so I wont. But from that point on nothing goes into me without researching it first. I think I began to distrusting doctors more at that point. There were other experiences before and after, but that one did it.

And what I really had was walking pneumonia and for several months. I suppose come off a tad depressed (since being sick for that long without a diagnosis can be mentally draining). Since those were the "new thing" for all things thought to be mental the doctor prescribed them. Had I been correctly diagnosed I would have never have had the experience.

Im not a fan, although alot of my family are prescribed these things (theirs is prescribed to them on purpose) and have been ongoing but there are still incidences with them on them.

Why is that you are the only one that hasn't recovered from these illnesses while they has done studies of others that had made a rapid recovery from all sort of health issues. Did you went on an totally organic diet or just 2 minutes of eating organic and then the rest of the day, ate only the crap that they had put unto the market without our knowledge. Then chemicals in the water and RBST growth hormones in milk and Aspartame that you have to worry about as well. That is why it is best to go organic because there is too much a person have to worry about. As I said and said it again, just imagine all of these children that are suffering until they have died; and remember that there is a place has been prepared for those that had sold their souls to these bio tech corporations. They will not be able to call on His name because they will be too embarrassed to even ask for help from Him. and so they will have to roam around forever in the realm of death saying to themselves over and over , "Was it worth it".

Daniel 12:2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.

Despite these differences, safety assessment of GM foods has been based on the idea of "substantial equivalence" such that "if a new food is found to be substantially equivalent in composition and nutritional characteristics to an existing food, it can be regarded as safe as the conventional food."4 However, several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food consumption including infertility, immune dysregulation, accelerated aging, dysregulation of genes associated with cholesterol synthesis, insulin regulation, cell signaling, and protein formation, and changes in the liver, kidney, spleen and gastrointestinal system.

My chronic pain is right there in the middle of my abdomen -- inside and outside. It was caused by whoever moved me from the operating table onto the gurney that took me to the recovery room. A nerve in my back was pinched. (Biggest pain after waking up from getting my gallbladder removed laparoscopically -- which means four one-inch cuts in my abdomen, some instruments poking around inside me, and one 1o cm. organ cut out and removed -- was my back was killing me!!!) No one could figure out why I was complaining about my back after waking up.

One day later, it had traveled to my sides and front -- right between my waist and lowest ribs. It feels like there is a tire there. On good days, it only feels like a bicycle rim being used as a tourniquet.

On average days, I get charlie horses on my sides and under my breasts. (I dare you not to try and rub a charley horse. Downright hard not to do, and yet, if that hits in public, it looks like I'm playing with my breast, so I can't rub. lol) Or, it feels like someone clenched me by the bottom of the throat and is strangling me, except it's not the bottom of the throat. It's the lower esophagus sphincter -- that muscle at the top of your stomach that stops food from going back up your throat when you belch or lies down. BUT it's not stopping food from going up the throat. It stops food from going into the stomach. The food is already in the throat, and sits there for up to two minutes. Or it feels like there is a water balloon -- just the right size for a water balloon fight -- falls off inside me and explodes. And that bike rim tourniquet turns into something about the size of a bicycle tire. Not as small as a metal rim tourniquet, but not as bad as it gets either.

As bad as it gets, it feels like a tourniquet about the size of a 650 CC engine motorcycle tire. Ever try bending with a tire around your middle? I don't bend easily. And because I don't bend easily and haven't done so since this hit in 1999, my back got little exercise and is now as painful as my original pain.

What does this have to do with "Mental Health Medications?" Well, first of all, because no one wakes up from gallbladder surgery complaining about agonizing pain in the back, and then that kind of pain doesn't simply move to the sides and fronts, (which 15 years later doctors finally admitted that's exactly what happened and usually does -- the info changed once the lawsuits couldn't happen), something must be mentally wrong with me, right? Well, they were kind enough to go with gallbladder surgery takes a few weeks, so that pain is normal, but after that few weeks was over, then it must be mental.

And I was in agonizing pain, so whatever was wrong with me was a serious kind of mental. And, it doesn't help when in agonizing pain doctors don't think it's important to give pain meds, so after a few months I admit I was mental -- suicide.

They tried to deal with it through the usual methods -- shrinks only helped when they helped me survive the pain. The rest wasted my time and caused more pain. But they don't use anti-depressants alone, even for things that truly are mental. (Suicidal so they gave me Neurontin, which is a drug for epileptics that made me incredibly dizzy.) I stopped keeping up with my list of drugs they tried at the 24th drug. I was only keeping it to avoid some doctor trying a drug another doctor already tried. But I was on beta-blockers, calcium something another, seizure medication, and antidepressants -- all in the hopes my spasms wouldn't choke me, give me charley horses, start a balloon fight inside my body, or become a tire shop.

By the time the fight was out of me to get better, I was down to pain pills and an anti-depressant. A few years later, I realized the antidepressant was doing nothing for me, (even got past the tired feeling it gave me after a year or two), so I quit it.

So while so many of you are so sure no believer should ever be on mental health medication, it hasn't even dawned on you that not all people on it are mental. It slows the system down, so it's good for chronic IBS-D, spasms, and probably a few other things.

Obvious question - should we also skip medications for IBS, spasms, and any other physical problem too?

In that case, skip your NSAIDs first.

As a precursor to this discussion, I'm not a mental health expert and would not want anyone relying on my expertise regarding this topic.

The basic question is whether a Christian should use mental health pharmaceuticals or not.

My position is that there are some individuals with genuine chemical imbalances which can benefit from mental health pharmaceuticals, but that our society tends to overprescribe such pharmaceuticals and these drugs can have a detrimental effect on the Christianity of those who take the drugs The question is: WHY do people have chemical imbalance?? Exodus 20:5 TELLS US!! Unrepented sin and the worshipping of idols brings a curse upon the forthcoming generations. Until the sin is acknowledge and repented of, those in that family line WILL SUFFER at the hands of the enemy and that includes mental illnesses. What better way for the devil to insure that a person can't be used of God than to render him/her mentally unstable so as to not be taken seriously and believed?
Pharmaueticals are of "Pharmakia" which is the Greek word for WITCHCRAAFT. So NO meds are not the answer. They sidestep the work that Jesus did for us. Turning to meds rather than looking at the spiritual condition and history of a family is nothing short of IDOLATRY. Also....meds...psychotic meds...are nothing more than a band-aid. They do NOT CURE, they only cover up the symptoms. As soon as the meds are stopped, the symptoms return...often worse than before. Jesus confronted the mentally insane man in Gadarene. He did not give him a pill, but commanded the DEMONS to be quiet and come out. In SECONDS, the man was sane and completely in control of himself.

I want to point to my personal experience. I started taking Paxil in about 2010 or so, due to social anxiety.Anxiety is a child (so to speak) of the demon of FEAR. I had just left a church I was involved with for years, and the experience was very disillusioning Remember that churches are made up of IMPERFECT PEOPLE and here, forgiveness is KEY. I needed to get involved with another fellowship which taught sound doctrine, but felt out of place. I thought the drugs may help me to adapt to a new environment and to deal with the resulting anxiety Just subdued and covered up the symtoms of fear. And go a step further; anxiety is PRIDE...overly concerned with what people think about you to the point of becoming fearful and unable to function.

Instead, I believe the drugs caused me to feel complacent about non-attendance, and about my Christian duties in general. I ended up backsliding for a number of years, getting involved in very obvious immoral behavior. Great side effect, right?
I don't blame my behavior on these anti-anxiety medications, but I do believe they engendered a false sense of peace, which replaced the peace I should have been receiving from the Holy Spirit. Exactly!!! Knowing that regardles of what situation you might be in, YOU ARE GOD'S CHILD and He's got your back ALL THE TIME!! I also gained a lot of weight from these anti-anxiety medications, which caused further issues.

There are different attitudes in the Church regarding mental health drugs. My understanding is that John MacArthur teaches that they are never useful to the Christian. I have a friend who attended MacArthur's fellowship..my friend had a roommate with genuine mental health issues (having auditory and visual hALUCINATIONS That would be demonic OPPRESSION (Not POSsession). Satin attempts to drive people insane with sending his minions to attack people so they cannt fulfill His plan for their lives.who was not encouraged to take medications and it caused great difficulty in his life.He just needed deliverance by someone filled with the Holy Spirit. So, while I respect MacArthur's view on other topics, and while he has a genuine concern regarding mental health drugs, I do not agree with his black and white view on this topic But according to scripture it is very black and white. My aunt is a very faithful Christian and also experienced auditory hallucinations and takes mental health drugs as a result. So, I am definitely sympathetic to both perspectives. Our physical bodies are subject to the effects of the Fall, and I believe that these sorts of illnesses are a manifestation of underlying physical frailties due to this, in some circumstances. However, I also believe that these illnesses can, in some cases, be caused by sinful thinking. It's a mixed bag. Not really. There a millions of people that SAY they are Christians because they go to church on Sunday. But Satan sends his demons to church too!! They sit beside people and cause them to fall asleep; they whisper in the ears of the congregants so that they DON"T hear the word of God in it's truth. They come in and influence people to be more concerned about what they are wearing or what things have been purchased by the church without their input, or with what kind of music is played and for how long and cause them to COMPLETELY IGNORE the FACT that it is supposed to be a time of WORSHIP and ADORATION towards the Creator. And for the MOST part...MOST of those sitting in the pews on any given Sunday, don't know the first thing about God's character or how to have a RELATIONSHIP with Him.
Those that are TRUE CHRISTIANS...true followers of Jesus are the ones that are DOING THE WORD OF GOD.
James 1:22-25
But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.(most of those calling themselves "Christians" are deluding themselves) For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. ...

Just wondering what everyone else thinks on this topic. Now you have my two cents worth. Tough words for many, but would Jesus have us 'be nice' and let many go to hell or would He have us put for His truth as we are commissioned to do?

Note: I am not encouraging or discouraging the use of mental health pharmaceuticals, nor would I want anyone to feel guilty over their use if they have a genuine organic condition. I'm not qualified to judge that. I am only relating my own circumstance and thoughts.
It is my hope that those that are on meds, would pursue deliverance in Christ Jesus so as to get free (set the captives free!). It is not God's will that ANYONE be bound to and trapped in the use of pharmakia/pharmaceuticals/pharmacy. He did not create any of us for that. That is how sneaky the devil is...he who come to kill, steal and destroy; Kill you, steal your peace and joy, and destroy your health...your life.
Maggie
For what it's worth, my 2nd son was diagnosed with schizophrenia at age 15. I asked the Lord where it came from because no one in my family or my husbands had it. He told me it was a myriad of generational curses that were manifesting in him and his life....satan working overtime on him because of the call of God on his life. Go figure!

Somewhat of a contradiction. You state you don't blame the medications, but you also say the medications caused you to backslide, or make choices that lead you to backslide.

As to the general question, i believe medications can be useful, though they should always be a last resort, when other ways of approaching it fail. Or when a condition is clearly out of control or quite far gone that starting out with the other approaches may delay treatment that is needed right away.
And of course medication should be coupled with counseling. As a person who has personally battled with depression most of my life, and has had many close friends with various mental issues, i have both experience and knowledge in this area, and not just speaking as someone uninformed.
To this point i have not taken any medication for my depression, but after two years of counseling and seeing very little improvement (and i have a good counselor) i am at the point of considering medication because much of my life has been lost to the influence of depression and i want to have a chance to enjoy life and feel 'normal'. And since i'm not able to do this after 25 years of no medication i will now consider it.

The prevalence of meds is Just another sign of this perverse and corrupt generation.
We're creeping closer and closer to the spirit of Babylon.

Child sacrifice (legalization of abortion),
Idol worship (materialism),
tower of Babel (buildings reaching 125 stories high),
false gods (all roads lead to God - uggh, how I dislike that),
sexual immorality (legalizing same sex marriage, websites that endorse affairs),
calling good evil, and vice versa (do I really need to elaborate),
-- pride (manipulating DNA, genes and cells to where we will soon be able to design what type of mental and physical characteristics we are born with),
world government; one people, one language, one government (internet, a ever expanding group of world organizations, info sharing of governments).
Sick and twisted. We are not to far behind the days of Noah, and Sodom and Ghomorrah.
If someone thinks we are any better, they are being deceived. The elect. As Jesus said it could happen with some of them.
It will be full blown soon enough.

It's not medicine, that's the problem and a psychiater is not a doctor although he did the same study and has the same title. Jung was a satanist.

Pastor I feel so depressed and I want to kill myself.
Go to a doctor.
Doctor I feel so depressed and I want to kill myself.
Wait lets put some poison in your head. That'll fix it.
At least John Cleese just made a joke.

You really think I'm the "only one" who hasn't recovered from these illnesses? Certainly, many people have recovered from many mental illnesses through a change in diet an lifestyle alone. But if you ask any neurologist or natural "doctor" if there is a 100% success with any sort of medication, homeopathic or natural remedy, you will find virtually none that would say there is a 100% success rate. Do you have any detailed and credible research that has definitely said otherwise?

Then chemicals in the water and RBST growth hormones in milk and Aspartame that you have to worry about as well. That is why it is best to go organic because there is too much a person have to worry about.
Let's see....4 months of an organic, detailed food allergy diet. Completely filtered water. Essential oils for any and every ailment during that time. Natural Vitamins and Supplements. No medication. Still seizure-like symptoms.

(With the exception of the detailed food allergy diet (which were cured after the diet and still are,) I'm still doing all of those things.)

Go sit in a neurologist's office for a couple of days, get to know those people personally, and then tell them they're all wrong to take medications and if they would only go organic, all of them would "rapidly recover."

Don't make sweeping generalizations that have no medical or scientific basis just to support your belief.

It is food allergies that it is; but these bio tech corporations doesn't want people to know that their products is capable of having allergens. The only reason why that they doesn't want that secret to come out, it is because if someone is allergic to their products which that means that they will have to labeled their products and which they doesn't want anyone to know that our foods has been tampered with by splicing the DNA of one species with another specie. Like they had out on the market a few years ago that Flavor savor tomato. They had taken it off the market, but the reason why, they doesn't want anyone to know. But the tomato was combined with a gene of a fish to make it to be able to be tolerant to the freezing weather; but those that are allergic to fish will not be able to know that they are eating something that has fish in it and they will have a allergic reaction to this tomato that they had thought that it was safe to eat. Eventhough that it is a very small amount of fish DNA in it, but it is the antibiotic resistance gene that they put into their crops that lowers the plant's defense so that the plants have to accept the alien genes. And so if someone that is allergic to fish, that their immune system will not be able to defend them from the allergic reaction of the fish DNA that is in the tomatoes and so they will surely die.
Trust me if you really stay away from these products that you will see the differences in your thinking pattern and so on; as if you were drunk before feeling into a sober feeling. The mind will not be foggy no more and you will be a lot energetic, able to leap over high grasses in a single bound. Make you wonder why people has been doing a lot of strange things that they normally wouldn't had done.

What meds are you on, Kohen? I've had two types of seizures since I was 5. Been on alot of them before I finally found a doctor who gave me a med that actually worked good on me.
