At the cross, Jesus did not just take away your sins, but He also gave you His righteousness! A divine exchange took place—your sins for His righteousness. This means that, today, you are as righteous as Christ Himself, not because of your good works, but because of His finished work!

So place your hand over your heart right now and boldly declare:

Come on, say it out loud at least three times and believe it in your heart. Learn to speak this powerful truth to and over yourself every day. If the enemy tells you, “You’re a bad Christian and that’s why you’re sick,” just declare, “I AM RIGHTEOUS IN CHRIST! By His stripes I am healed!”

It is written that we are becoming the righteousness of GOD. We haven't arrived yet.

He made the one who did not know sin [to be] sin on our behalf, in order that we might become the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

This teaching of positive confession of something that isn't true in order to convince one's mind that it is true is the kind of thing that Jimmy Swaggart was referring to in his study on the similarities between the word of faith movement and Christian gnosticism. I'll post the links to his study later.

To work-based salvationisists mindset - righteousness you get by "your" deeds and not by what Christ has dome in His finished work only.

Romans 5:17 (KJV)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

Romans 5:21 (KJV)
[SUP]21 [/SUP] That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 8:10 (KJV)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Romans 9:30 (KJV)
[SUP]30 [/SUP] What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.

Romans 10:10 (KJV)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] For with the heart manbelieveth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 14:17 (KJV)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] For the kingdom of God ( Jesus said that the kingdom of God is within you..He might know a thing or two ) is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV)
[SUP]30 [/SUP] But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)
[SUP]21 [/SUP] For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Here Paul is calling the Corinthians "righteousness" and unbelievers "unrighteousness".

[SUP][/SUP] 2 Corinthians 6:14 (KJV)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] Be ye not unequally yoked together withunbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Galatians 2:21 (NASB)
[SUP]21 [/SUP] "I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly."

Ephesians 6:14 (KJV)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, andhaving on the breastplate of righteousness;

Ephesians 4:24 (NASB)
[SUP]24 [/SUP] and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

Ok..that's enough..there are tons more....

Here is what the greek word "to become" means. Do not let work-based salvationists destroy your faith in what our Lord has already done for us .

1090. [FONT="Galatia Sil" !important]γίνομαι[/FONT] [FONT="Gentium" !important]ginomai[/FONT] verb
To be, to come into being, to be made, be done, become, to be celebrated.

"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." 2 Cor 5:21

The first part of 2 Cor 5:21 was fulfilled while Christ was hanging on the cross(1 Pet 2:24). The second part of 2 Cor 5:21 is explained very well by Romans chapter 4 speaking of Abraham as an example. "might be made" is simply saying that this imputed righteousness of Christ is available to anyone who believes:

"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." Rom 4:5

"Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom
it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead" Rom 4:23-24

Those who have believed, have His imputed righteousness as reneweddaybyday pointed out.

"But of him are
ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption" 1 Cor 1:30.

Roman Catholics are notorious for mixing up faith and works.

Paul wrote letters to the saints. He hadn't achieved it but still he said he died with Christ and didn't live anymore.
If you believe you are a sinner you will act like one. Just like when they give you a mental illness label. All of a sudden you behave like a posessed idiot. Only way to get out of that is knowing who you are in Christ and repentance and deliverance, but without the first the last two don't work. You believe you can't even repent and are bound and can never get out of it.

God doesn't make anyone sick. If I smoked cigarettes for 60 years - there's a good chance I will get cancer. That's not God doing it. Sickness doesn't come from God. He doesn't have any sickness.

1 Cor.11 is simply saying if you do not judge what the Lord has done for you - many of you will become sick and weak because you are not discerning what the Lord has done for them in His body - by His stripes you were healed.. They are not acknowledging the benefits of the New Covenant and thus as Hosea says.."My people are destroyed because of a lack of knowledge"

Hebrews 12 doesn't say God puts sickness on His children. Discipline here in Greek is "child-training". No parent would put a sickness on their children. They would be thrown in jail for such a thing. He disciplines us with His word.

James 1:17 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

You would have to show me in Jesus's life here on this earth where He put sickness on people.

If you ant to see how God disciplines - watch Jesus dealing with the disciples.

Jesus did the will of the Father. God does not cause sickness to happen but He sure can prove His love and grace for us in every situation when we are attacked.

Jesus is perfect theology:

Jesus is the exact representation of the Father. Jesus said no one knows my Father. Jesus came to reveal the true nature of the Father and to show us His will.

So, whatever understanding of God we get from the Old Covenant that doesn't line up with Jesus' manifestation of the Father will be inaccurate.

Hebrews 1:1-3 (NASB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,
[SUP]2 [/SUP] in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.
[SUP]3 [/SUP] And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Amen to that proper understanding of those communion verses. I used to be a believer who went to church in fear and trepidation when time for communion. Instead of remembering what Jesus did.,Christians are remembering their sin when in actuality and truth, their sin was taken care of over 2000 years ago. And THAT is why we can come to communion to remember that truth of His finished work. We should celebrate and remember what Jesus did for us by taking our sin and giving us His righteousness.

That it was He who make it possible for us to come IN HIS righteousness that He gave us at salvation. He took our sin and gave us His righteousness and we received it as a gift. communion is a celebration of Jesus and what was already done. Those who are sick are those who still think it is their won righteousness that makes them fit to stand. The new covenant is full of many given finished benefits but many Christians don't even know they are in a new covenant.

Jesus paid it all., all to Him I owe., sin had left a crimson stain., He washed it white as snow.

When I read Psalm 23 ., The Bible gives a clear picture of what the Good Shepherd does for the sheep. He never beats the sheep, He leads and guides the Sheep. We are the sheep of His pasture and Jesus never put sickness or inflicted beatings to His sheep. What our Good Shepherd does do is the very opposite., He came to heal the sick and raise the dead. To mend the broken hearted and to set the captives free.

The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, to guide and to shield me],
I shall not want.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]
He lets me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still and quiet waters.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]
He refreshes and restores my soul (life);
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
for His name’s sake.

[SUP]4 [/SUP]
Even though I walk through the [sunless] [SUP][a][/SUP]valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort and console me.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You have anointed and refreshed my head with [SUP][b][/SUP]oil;
My cup overflows.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]
Surely goodness and mercy and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life,
And I shall dwell forever [throughout all my days] in the house and in the presence of the Lord.

It's so sad that people use these passages only at funerals when it is for us right now. We have Him leading and guiding us today in the power of the Holy Spirit. His rod and staff they comfort and they guide., The Good Shepherd never beats the sheep., He goes and gets the sheep when they get off the path. That is what shepherds do. But Jesus IS our GOOD SHEPHERD and is even better than the average earthly shepherd.

The enemy of our souls does the killing, stealing and destroying. Let's give credit where credit is due.

Yep.

I went to the grocery store so that I might buy some milk.

Did I accomplish that task?

Yep.

I didn't hem and haw and go back and forth thinking I might buy some milk - no, I went in and accomplished the task I set out to accomplish.

By the way, the phrase 'might be made' in 2 Cor. 5:21 is translated from

Strong's G1096 - ginomai

  1. to become, i.e. to come into existence, begin to be, receive being
  2. to become, i.e. to come to pass, happen
    1. of events
  3. to arise, appear in history, come upon the stage
    1. of men appearing in public
  4. to be made, finished
    1. of miracles, to be performed, wrought
  5. to become, be made

There's no indication of a 'maybe' there, but of a certainty that God accomplished that which He set out to accomplish.

Let's say that I was given all authority, that I had removed the law about wearing white after Labor day. And so now, anyone who wear white on the day after will not be consider as a wicked person anymore, but will be consider as a righteous person for now on with no marks against them anymore.

Malachi 3

The Book of Remembrance

16Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who esteem His name. 17“They will be Mine,” says the LORD of hosts, “on the day that I prepare My own possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.” 18So you will again distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him.

This highlights a fundamental distinction between true Christian faith and gnostic Christian faith.

Gnostic Christians believed that they were already perfect and salvation was simply a matter of waking up to that reality. In terms of salvation, they considered what the body did irrelevant, because the spirit, which they considered to be who they really were, was already perfect and could not be harmed by anything physical. This same spirit is manifest today through the claim that believers are the righteousness of GOD in Christ.

True Christians believe that there is no righteousness in themselves, and they have been clothed with GOD's righteousness in Christ, that through grace they may be made GOD's righteousness as they are conformed to his image. It is a perfecting process that is not complete until a person is dead. Even Christ wasn't perfect until he died.

For it was fitting for him for whom [are] all [things] and through whom [are] all [things] in bringing many sons to glory to perfect the originator of their salvation through sufferings. Hebrews 2:10
