I was curious about what u guys think about Aromatherapy. I have a feeling opinions might be as mixed as the yoga thread in another forum. You can take it too far an believe in the hocus-pocusy part of it or just use essential oils like lavender to relax and unwind after a busy day. There are some oil blends, however, that some think are very powerful in changing mood, etc. Thoughts?

Well I guess I was wrong! It's been like 3 days and no one wants to share any opinions on this subject. Ok then. I don't have a problem blending oils to improve my mood, help me relax, and help give me more energy if no one else does. The main thing is what God thinks about it and I'm pretty sure He doesn't mind either. So that's that! Have a nice day. :)

Hi! I just read this post and I myself am just learning about essential oils. I don't know a lot, but I use lavender often to settle me down to sleep at night. And I have tried some blends I purchased and they helped a lot. I feel I have so much to learn! But thus far my experience has been help with depression and hormones.

I use them often for many things. Ylang Ylang, Peppermint, Frankincense and Myrrh, are at my desk. I have many others. It bewilders me that using them just as aromatherapy should work like it does.

All except for Mary Jane...although Rastafarians would beg to differ...thinking its also an herb that God intended us to use medicinal or otherwise...but i'm starting a whole new topic here..whoops!

I know that this thread is older but I'm looking into aromatherapy and was wondering if anyone would like to share with me their experiences with it.
I think that it has medicinal value, which is why I'm looking into it.

It has real medicinal value, not just value in influencing mood, or attitude, which is precious in itself, but medicinal remedies beyond what it seems some of the posters here understand. I have been using them for over 10 years, and I can attest to it. I also know more then a small group of people who have had the same experience as me. And there is a real quantifiable science behind it.

Scientists say that the average aromatherapy product is so diluted that you can barely / can not find any trace of the substance they supposedly contain.

I'm trying to find a natural relief for my arthritis and I read somewhere that certain essential oils can be rubbed into the skin and some are super helpful in a bath and/or in a compress. It wasn't very specific as to what essential oils helped what.

Light scented candles, almost all of them, have chemicals in them that are harmful to people. Even the ones that don't, as far as I know, have no medicinal value.

Evening Primrose oil is good for ingesting to help joints and reduce inflammation esp in rheumatoid arthritis...try taking it as a supplement (ingest) it will help....

Peppermint, and Eucalyptus are good oils as well....help reduce inflammation and increase circulation...peppermint has menthol which is what's in Vicks vapo rub to improve blood flow (dilate) blood vessels and sinuses...

BTW aromatherapy doesn't work with this stuff you need to rub it on the affected area....

Essential oils can definitely be helpful for arthritis. My mom could tell you that.
But even before that, I would tell you to get ALL of the glutton, and diary, and most of the corn out of your diet.
Get ALL tjhe processed foods out of your diet. Limit your animal protein intakes to 3 times a week.
Buy the protelytic enzymes Vida Defense and use them as directed.

As far as the essential oils, use these. You can buy them separate and make your own blend.
I would recommend purchasing only from Young Living or Dottera.
Basil, Lavander, Lemongrass, Helichrysum, Peppermint, White Fir, Balsam Fir, Vetiver, Cypress, and Eucalyptus Globulus.
Those are the oils I sent my mom. I mixed them into two 15 mil bottles.
Her diet is better then the average American, but not nearly as good as what I suggested to you.
She ingests about a drop from each bottle once or twice a day. She also applies it topically. It took about 6 weeks until she saw a difference. She said it is about anywhere from around 60% to 80% better.
I suspect if she improved her diet she would have even a higher rate.
The oils are not cheap. The 10 oils I mentioned are about $380 or so. Nine of them are about $200, but Helichrysum is about $200 by itself.
They would probably last for about 6 months or so if you use them the same way my mom is.
Using just about any other brand, or buying cheaper oils from other companies (and I am saying there may be one or two or three other companies out there who sell the quality as YL or Doterra, which means the oils will work in a medicinal way) will probably produce NO results.
