if you are referring to my abstention from alcohol, I abstain from it because alcohol consumption has zero appeal for me. There's nothing about it that is a draw on me. Initially I quit years ago because God told me to avoid it, but now it's cause it has no lure for me.

I agree that pride flows out of obeying the law.
I don't drink either...just thought I would ask about the legalism issue mostly be,use of what u say you seen I. Your visions..seems tainted with angels that have the power to accuse ..should be very careful with those type of visions in my opinion ..because no angel can accuse a righteous man that walks with Christ.

I believe all of us still need some internal scrubbing, correction, and instructions. THat's what the word of God is for, and that's what messengers/angels are for , to bring messages from God to us. When mortality puts on immortality, and when corruption puts on incorruption, then we will have no further need of corrections and instructions from God.

No I'm sorry angels are not to correct a believer who Has the Holy Spirit. ..Yes the Word and the Spirit..but the legal rights of angels are restricted under the New Covenant ..and of course satan and his minions are experts at appearing in this manner...thus we have to be careful with claiming angels are influencing us beyond what is written.

1. Now there was in Caesarea a certain man named Cornelius, a centurion of a band that is called the Italian band, 2. A devout man who also feared God with all his house, both in giving many alms to the people and in beseeching God continually in prayer. 3. He clearly saw in a vision, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming to him and saying to him, "Cornelius."
4. But as he fixed his eyes on him, he became afraid and said, "What is it, Lord?" And he said to him, "Your prayers and your alms have gone up for a memorial before God. 5. And now send men to Joppa, and call for Simon who is surnamed Peter. (Acts 10)

5. As a result, Peter was securely held in the prison, but fervent prayer was made to God by the church for him.7. But suddenly an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shined in the building. And after striking Peter on the side, he roused him, saying, "Get up! Hurry!" And the chains fell off his hands. (Acts 12)

looks like angels giving instructions from God to NT saints to me in these verses

lets consider some groups that claim angels have come and given them extra biblical instruction about godliness... Mormons...SDA and some others ...in all these groups we see a promotion of certain legalistic ideas to further justify oneself beyond faith in Christ ... I know of one famous con-man that claimed angels told him to never drink alcohol or coffee ...and eat certain things... He even seemed to have a spiritual gift and deceived many people.

I'm not denying that Angels have work before the Lord and we are even told that we might entertain them unawares ...but anytime a "angel" tries to replace sound doctrine or even influence someone toward a more legalistic attitude toward God...you must test those spirits and understand the warnings against looking to angels and not the gospel.

I tell my doctor about my angel experiences, and the last time I saw her I told her that the only people I know of who talk like me are whacko's in mental institutions. She asked me if my angel friends ever told me to do anything wrong or hurt someone, and i told her no they don't and if they did i would fight it. She said to me then "well it's ok then as long as nothing bad comes out of it.

So I have a doctors seal of approval.
Then your doctor is as delusional as you are, and should have their medical license revoked, and they should seek some psychiatric help for themself in the process.

acts 10.3 is interesting because Cornelius saw an angel the same way I see angels, in visions.
I agree with your test for whether a spirit is an angel of a demon. In my opinion, my angel friends have never done that. I understand that you think they do, but I go with my understanding and not another persons.

I agree you have your opinion ..but you are kinda laying them out on a public forum as truth... and we must also remember that the sound doctrine that Paul brought through His epistles and the other writers had not been established in the church ...the idea that the gentiles are fellow heirs with the Jews was not understood and had not been explained att... so the intervention of angels would have been needed then to help witness to God intentions ...but we have sound doctrine now and we have the full counsel of God ...and a word form a angel cannot be above that.

Well under the Old Covenant Angels did have power to enforce the punishment and judgment of the written code ..under the New ...Christ alone is our mediator and we stand in His Righteousness ...so the place of angels as they deal with believer in Christ has changed legally before God.

I do know of people who have had visions and dreams of Angels, but like
Mitspa said all things needs to be tested.

One thing which bothers me is the bit where you said an angel indicated they were sick of
you doing things wrong. That seems a bit not quite right. It is the Holy Spirit who convicts
and then through the blood of Christ we have forgiveness.

One other point to bear in mind, Muslims believe they have two Angels sat on either
shoulder. One who writes down all the good things and the other all the bad things.

If you have judgemental Angels following you around then it sounds a bit iffy.
I would prefer to build a relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Incidentally Angels can and do minister to believers still.

For example I know of a Christian couple who were missionaries
some years ago in Africa.

The politics of the area they were in turned sour over night and their lives
were in danger, as were all the Christians in the area. So they literally had
to flee with just a small bag of overnight things. As they were leaving the
property, the wife looked up and had a vision that there was a vast army of
Angels standing on the hillside protecting them.

They got away safely.

I agree you have your opinion ..but you are kinda laying them out on a public forum as truth.
I don't consider my examination of what the original Greek texts actually say as being my opinion,. I see nothing wrong with stating my opinion that pneuma was meant by God in a literal sense in 'he hath made his angels/messangers to be spirits". I do not consider it bringing new truths either, i see it as revealing literally what the word of God says, and what that means to me. bringing new truth to me would be saying something that contradicts other scriptures, and I haven't done that. messengers in the bible are sometimes humans and sometimes spirit beings that we call angels.

I agree the word of a spirit cannot be above the word of God.
And which church is it that has 100 percent sound doctrine. I know of no such church or individual, including myself.
