Spritual warfare....

Mark 3:25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

The more folks argue the less time they will spreading the gospel to those on here who need it, prayer and learning. I've noticed it happening more and more. Discension and it is getting worse.
Discension

The enemy will use anyone who allows it. Watch the threads and pay attention to what happens and who pops in as soon as an argument ensues.

Sadly not everyone here is to help build.
Yep

I have been mostly staying away from the BDf lately myself. I started a similar thread like this just about maybe 10 days ago.
The BDF was a big reason I cam here, almost 4 months ago. I will eventually get back on there, but I have learned a few things about chatting on the internet by being here. Besides a site about comic books, I have never been on a chat site before. Being the winter, not being able to go outside as much, I joined thinking where else on the net can I really go but to my fellow brothers and sisters.
And yes, I am still glad to be here, but I know their are things I should have foreseen that I did not. My bad, because I am a Christian for 23 years, and in my mid 50's should have just understood better about some things.
A couple of my responses could have been measured better on the BDF, despite that I thought I was once being mislabeled, and another time that someone was being, well, maybe not appropriate. But two wrongs don't make a right, and as Christians we are supposed to be to a higher standard.
But I think the real longer term problem, and the real big issue here is Christians who just have to demand they are right, be it discussing with fellow Christians, or agnostics, or atheists, or Catholics.
I mean, come on, some of this is, quite frankly, bordering on being almost an advertisement on why not to become a Christian to those of the world who see us.
We are going to be sharing a lot of time in heaven together, lets start loving each other as close to as what we can do and be for how God wants us to here and now.
Whether or not we disagree, like each other, or whatever, we have to try and do better. It actually pains me from a personal standpoint about what happened with me, but also here with others that I have seen take such a self righteous stance. And get so personal.
Not only are hurting ourselves, but maybe more importantly, we are causing harm to those who are not saved that come here.
That should be upper most in our minds. It is not all about us. What is the worth of a soul?
So we ought to humble ourselves, pray, be wise.
I keep saying, John 17.

9 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours...11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you.Holy Father, protect them by the power of[b] your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.
14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.17 Sanctify them by[d] the truth; your word is truth...
...20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.

May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

And the fruits of the spirit.

Why not? I deserved it probably more than anyone else did. I was baptized 37 years ago, and I still haven't learned how not to be vindictive, and retaliate.
Its all good,I think we were both PMSing today. I still respect you as a brother in the Lord, hope the feeling is mutual. I do stick to my guns but maybe I needed to lock it up. Its done, feathers are no longer fluffed. I'm cool now.:p

There are many doctrines in the Bible people can agree to disagree. But when someone attacks the gospel of Jesus by saying that one cannot be saved without being water baptized and that baptism washes sins away, etc, that is blatant heresy on the most important doctrine in the Bible! It's not just a matter of disagreement! Paul disputed with the people in Acts chapter 17!(was that wrong?) Paul also hated how the Jews kept adding to the gospel(whether it be circumcision, other works, etc). That is what my contention with certain people on the BDF are. A select few who teach salvation by works which is an attack on the Bible whether people realize it or not! Catholicism is popping it's head up on the BDF more and more as apostasy grows in these latter days!

"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints." Jude 1:3

We can defend or explain the word, yes. But sometimes the messenger can spoil the message.
And also, when do we stop repeating ourselves, being redundant when someone just doesn't see it the way we do, say okay, I am not going to throw pearls before swine anymore.

I hope Im allowed to say that a tread was just closed. I admit it was a good thing.I was about to read somebody the riot act. No,not you Willie. So what is going on here folks? Its getting hateful. We had a blow out and a thread closed yesterday. Is this what its come to? Why is everyone so nasty and angry?! It wasn't like this when I joined. I had friends and daily I seem to be making enemies for simply giving an opinion. What has happened here? Drama, drama, drama. Its getting ridiculous.
I have most definitely noticed this. It really seems to have grown this way over the past year. Truthfully, idk what it is. Maybe it's the media convincing people to go to extremes? For example, if you think a certain way about subject A, you must also think a certain way about subject B, C, and D? Idk. That's how I feel about the news/political forum. People find other people's thoughts offensive.

As far as the BDF goes there's always been crazies on there but they would usually get snuffed out with a banhammer. I think the reason being is that most Christians who socialize on a Christian forum don't socialize as much in real life. Maybe sometimes due to extreme beliefs? That's just an untested theory though. Idk what's going on.

Ill tell you what is going on. The spiritual warfare has increased and we need to be aware of that. Its his job to bring division and in the heat of things,we fall for his schemes. Sin has increased, false doctrines are being brought like they are gospel and I think that the enemy is planting satanist and people that are not true christians on this site. I am not saying who these people are nor would I. I see how enemies are made more easily on this site than friends. I am guilty of falling for the carnal behavior and I have done my share. Im going to try very hard to watch my mouth. I dont want to fall for satans schemes any longer.

What's wrong is playing on the person. You get a warning for that in public if you do that on one Dutch forum, but those mods are bored and have nothing better to do. Here everyone has to watch out to not do that themselves.

Sometimes Paul disputed with the people for months on end:

"And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God." Acts 19:8

Paul frequently disputed with the people he met(ie: Acts 17, 19, etc) and also with carnal believers throughout his epistles(ie: 1 Corinthians)! He even withstood to Peter's face at one point(Gal 2:11) The truth truly cuts to the heart sometimes, and it divides many! That is why Jesus said:

"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword." Matt 10:34

You have to stand up for the truth, even if one day everyone forsakes you!(they all forsook Jesus, remember? Mark 14:50, etc)

That's where prayer and the Holy Spirit comes in. If someone is doing that every time, to everyone, in every scenario, then I humbly submit he or she may not be praying enough about what God wants them do in a specific situation.
We can't get dogmatic with that quote from the bible.
The spirit, not the letter.

Sometimes it seems as though you can't even say water is wet without someone contesting the obvious. Hang in there, my Sister, I truly appreciate everything you share, even when I don't appreciate it. ;)

Good question.... I'm finding that the BDF is filled with self-righteous folks that want to destroy anyone that has a different view of scripture than themselves.

It is spiritually exhausting, and I'm beginning to think I don't need to frequent this forum anymore.

I'm all about loving discussion and disagreement, but when it becomes a shouting match (figuratively) about who is an apostate spreader of Satan's message..... well, I'm out.
Don't leave, bro. You're way too valuable here; your wisdom and discernment enlightens many people here, especially me. Take a break if you must, but don't split altogether.

Now wait a cotton pickin' minute!! A couple days ago some of us DID "give the benefit of the doubt" to a couple of trolls who were on here, and YOU mocked us, even called us "suckers". We should try to give benefit to everyone, even the trolls. And not have to worry about our "friends" here mocking us for our sincere efforts to help. Maybe if more of us actually TRIED helping, instead of TALKING about helping, then the atmosphere here just might be alot better. So next time, stop mocking those who are sincerely trying to help others. We don't appreciate being called suckers, and I know you're capable of doing better than what I've seen from you recently, Willie..
To be fair, I was not knocking "helping." I was simply disappointed in seeing people actually believing him.

But you are right. I have been reacting pretty aggressively this week. I will not go into it, but there were mitigating circumstances, and I am working through them. Not sure of the resolution yet, but I'll try harder not to let my problems come here.
