If it is true, then he should have data to support his assertion right?
I did not ASSERT that everyone attending church was living a Christian life.......I did not broad brush the subject. I didn't even mention "everyone attending church."
When one broad brush asserts, one has the duty to provide date to support their assertion......pretty basic stuff there.
FROM OP:
Today. a large numbers of Christians lives limited
There is NO WAY anyone can accurately make this assertion........simply can not, for no one has the necessary evidence/data to support the claim "A LARGE NUMBER."
What is "A LARGE NUMBER?" Subjective at best...........and simple opinion, not Truth. That is the point.
As well, the other points I addressed you seem to have passed over..........hmm
Hi PR
I liked BlessedJohn80's reply. That's about all the polls you'll be needing.
I mean, if I have to post a poll for everything I think, we'll never get anywhere!
I just don't think the O.P. is making an outrageous claim, I didn't mean to be discourteous with you.
The church I go to is full on Sundays. I know FOR SURE that about 80% of people there go to Mass and then forget about God for the rest of the week. Not only do they not show the power in Christianity, but they don't even follow Jesus' teachings. They don't even think of them. Very few do. I'm surprised that you've never noticed this...
I think it's okay to say " a large number ". OTOH, if I misspoke by using the word "everyone" I apologize but it does seem apparent that it's just a misspoken word since not EVERYONE ever does EVERYTHING.
As to your other points:
You did not agree with no. 4 of the O.P.'s list which stated that people ask God for their needs when praying instead of asking for His will.
Actually, this is correct. God is not Santa, as they say. The reason we pray is to find out what HIS will is for our lives. When Jesus was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane He asked for God's will and not His own.
We could go to God and pray for our needs, but it's wiser to pray that we can accept what comes our way.
This discussion would get into a whole different field that would change the thread, so I'll stop here.
I'd like to post Mathew 6:9-13 How To Pray, Or The Lord's Prayer.
Check out verse 11. "Give us this day our daily bread." The only physical need in the whole prayer. And a very fundamental one - we don't have too many worldly needs if we follow Jesus because we're to accept what comes our way.
See Luke 9:23 - we're to pick up our cross daily.
