Neverminding the fact that the title of this thread sounds like a post-hardcore band name, How do you guys feel about taking Anti-Depressants and or other psychological meds? (If anyone could tell me how to set up a poll or whatever that'd rock too) But yeah, I really don't know how to feel about that stuff. Whether or not its useful, or complete poison. What do you guys think?

I took anti-depressant meds for a few days. Some of the side effects they caused, I already had so I quit taking them and relied on God to get me through.. :)

If you need them, take them, by all means.

The way I feel about meds is that they REALLY ought to be take as needed. Seriously, I don't believe you should have to subscribe your system to such vast changes to feel better. I really wish they would research a PRN type of approach to mental meds.

I think relying on God is without question, the number 1 best option. A lot of people do rely on chemical help though. I mean, I don't want to take away from their power, its just... You're putting it in perspective for me. God can change you to meet your needs, just seek him first. :D

Do you tell a diabetic to rely on God instead of their insulin? Or an asthmatic person to toss away their inhaler and rely on God?
Why treat mental illness differently?

A lot of people really do need them. They can not discontinue them or even cut their dosage.
Some people that are taking them may not need them (but that is probably a tiny portion of cases), or maybe not in the dosage they are doing.
Based on my experiences with people I have counseled, and that of my friend, there are some people, probably a minority, but enough of them, who would see improvement if they changed their lifestyles. And had faith in God and prayed.
How much improvement is specific to each individual case. But I look at it as even a small improvement is better then none.

Then again, I know some people who I wish were taking heavier doses, lol.

I would tell a Diabetic (type 2) To SERIOUSLY change their diet, and SERIOUSLY start hitting the gym in a big way. Then I would tell them to keep cutting down and purify your body a little bit more every day until you can eventually fast, and cleanse yourself... Reversing your type 2 Diabetes... and yes, Relying on God. I don't know much about insulin use in type 1 Diabetes, but I do know that fasting is a form of self preservation, and God designed us to be able to control our own health. Not NEEDING to rely on those who make a REDICULOUS living off of serving their "treatments" to people at an outrageous and unaffordable price.

Probably most type 2 diabetics that are not in the very last stages could decrease and even discontinue the drug if they followed you advice LP.
Type 1, no. I have never seen a type 1 do that, sad to say.

I am a native NYer transplanted to VT. But one day God will permit me to leave this place. Its so cold in the winter my pastor calls us the chosen frozen. But I don't like football anymore. Go NY Mets.
