Demon influence would be the daily temptations counter to scripture.

For those that are possessed, demons are not allowed to kill their host, only to torture them, according to Revelation.

Satan possession is turning over the driver's wheel and going on auto-pilot, such as when Satan was allowed to enter into Judas.

We are now living in the 1K earthly reign, in which Satan is bound, and we are free to come to Jesus....when he becomes unbound, it will be for a short time because his demons will already be mounted to their respective riders, as again told to us in Revelation
...
thanks for your responses.

in your view, is this the only difference,
that a demon can't kill its host, but satan could (if he weren't bound)?

Demons are followers....as such, they have limited power, as compared to Satan.

What's your scriptural worldview....is Satan bound....or, are you unsure?

your view is that demons have limited power compared to Satan, the limitation being that they can't kill their hosts.
is this correct?

I'm not sure if satan is bound. if he directs demons who can do nearly everything he can (the exception being kill their hosts), then I don't see a practical difference between bound and unbound.

in your view, is there a practical difference between bound and unbound?

Satan is most assuredly bound right now, people....and thank God that he is!!!
I agree after reading in to it some. I didn't know before but would have to agree with you. Diabolos is in his cage, but his kids run free. Thank you and valiant for posting the scriptures, would be kind of catchy unless studied well, as a few of you have presented.

Heb 2.14 - 15

Since, then, the children have partaken of flesh and blood, in like manner He Himself also shared the same things, that through death He might render entirely idle the one having the power of death, that is, the devil;and might set these free, as many as by fear of death were subject to slavery through all the lifetime to live.

Heb 2.15

και απαλλαξη τουτους οσοι φοβω θανατου δια παντος του ζην ενοχοι ησαν δουλειας

Kai apallaxē toutous hosoi phobō thanatou dia pantos tou zēn enochoi ēsan douleias

and might set these free, as many as by fear of death were subject to slavery through all the lifetime to live.

The key word here is ‘apallaxē’, which means ‘to set free’.

Satan is bound at the Cross so that we now have freedom and time to come to Jesus.

This time period is the 1,000 years, 42 months, 1260 days, times, time and ½ time.

To reinforce that the binding is to separate the devil from the people, is made manifest by reviewing the only other two Greek inflections of the word, as thus…

For as you go with your adversary to a judge, give pains in the way to be set free from him, that he not drag you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.(Luke 12.58)

Luke is quite clear that we need to be set free from the adversary lest we be thrown into prison.

Sound familiar?

Here’s how the other inflection is used in the NT…

so as even handkerchiefs or aprons from his skin to be brought onto those sick, and the diseases to be released from them, and the evil spirits to go out from them. But certain from the strolling Jews, exorcists, undertook to name the name of the Lord Jesus over those having evil spirits, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.(Acts 19.12 -13)

Again…the text discusses being set free from evil.

So, yes...the difference between Satan being 'bound' and 'unbound' is epic!

Hello Brainfreeze,

I would caution you in that in you are listening to the teaching of preterism. The scripture in question clearly states that an angel from heaven (not the Lord) will seize Satan and thrown him into the Abyss, which is located under the earth and where he will be restricted, having no access to the surface of the earth and its inhabitants during the time of Christ's literal thousand year reign. Satan's literal binding takes place after Christ returns to the earth to end the age and establish His literal thousand year reign.

The Abyss is the same place where in Luke 8:31 where those demonic beings collectively called "Legion" begged Jesus not to send them into. It is also the same place where at the sounding of the 5th trumpet/1st woe, that star/angel opens the Abyss and releases those demonic beings who will torment the inhabitants of the earth for five months with stings like that of a scorpion (Rev.9). These demonic beings have a king over them who is that angel of the Abyss, who is that beast who will come up out of the Abyss and will kill the two witnesses. The point being that, the Abyss is a literal location underneath the earth where select demons currently reside. Satan has not yet been thrown into the Abyss, for we have not even begun the last seven years much less the beginning of the millennial period, which is when Satan is bound.

Satan is most certainly not currently bound in the Abyss, for Peter states that Satan is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. And regarding Satan's current state, John says the following:

"We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them. We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one."

The chronological order of events is as follows:

* You are HERE!

* The appearing of the Lord and the gathering of His church

* The establishing of the seven year covenant

* The wrath of God via the seals, trumpets and bowl judgments throughout that entire seven years

* The return of the Lord to the earth to end the age after the wrath of God has been completed

* The beast and the false prophet are thrown alive into the lake of fire

* Satan thrown into and restricted in the Abyss for a thousand years

* The thousand year reign of Christ

Agreed...

Most people never think too hard on the subject.....most just assume that the world is the way it is because Satan is making it that way, when, in fact, he isn't.....which ends up diminishing Jesus' work at The Cross.

Brainfreeze already reviewed the arguments in this thread, and agrees that Satan is bound.

Anyone with an open mind to scripture will come to the same conclusion.

It is most interesting that if you take a look at the people who voted 'yes' in the poll that Satan is bound right now, we can see that they are some of the most Biblically savvy on this forum.

If that were the case, then who causes transgender and pushes it politically. who is accusing the brethren. why do we have gay marriage, why is murder rampant, why are children pointing guns at other children and saying deny Christ and killing them if the don't. Why is Islam chopping off the heads of Christians at a phenomenal rate, talking thousands. Satan is not bound and you are preaching a false doctrine. He is defeated but not bound. I see you are stuck in your doctrine and will fight for it but it wrong wrong and dead wrong.

According to Revelation, there are some 200,000,000 free-ranging demons in the world today...of which, would more than explain what we see...

in your view, satan being bound means that people are now set free from the fear of death.

and, satan being bound means that he is free to direct his demons to possess non-christians and influence everybody.

is this correct?

Obama ..lol joke ... but no use Obama as a analogy, does he have to leave the white house to get what he wants done? I'm sure if he was in a specific quarter that he wanted something done he could apply more pressure. If he's on house arrest though, it's harder to accomplish set objectives.

Dan,

Firstly, is NOT my 'view' but that which is put forth by scripture.

Secondly, just because Jesus bound Satan at The Cross does not mean that ALL people will now choose life over death.

In fact, most people prefer death, over life.

Brain I love and know you love God. Yes Satan is defeated and he cannot harm a christian unless that christian allows him. He is not bound and is the ring leader of demons and fallen angles. He has fought the church and Israel and will continue until Jesus returns. Who is Jesus going to fight? someone who is bound or someone who leads an army?

I like your Obama thing and I hope that satan is unsuccessful in electing his servant Killary.
