In Mormonism, God was once a man like we are (this is not a reference to Jesus Christ, but to God the Father).

Joseph Smith apparently wanted to set his followers straight when he proclaimed the following at the Mormon Church's General Conference in April, 1844:

I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see. … It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the character of God and to know...that he was once a man like us.... yep they teach that "son of man" is a reference to "son of the man of holiness" that he had a flesh body beforehand , not manifest in the body of His son, Jesus Christ. though its strange because the book of Mormon does not teach this, but Joseph smith " the one prophet" teaches it in his doctrines, wich is not at all biblical that one prophet has authority, but the spirit of prophets are a gift through the spirit of Jesus, the only prophet. and given to men, and also women as God chooses and has prepared in advance.

And you should find a church sis, God did not mean for us to be alone..

It's been impossible for me for the last few years, especially when I had my herniated disk last year. Plus I don't drive or have a car. At least all the churches here are within walking distance.. And I do watch an online service every Sunday. Not quite the same, but it's the best I could do, given my circumstances at the time.

...and God is aware of this. He knows your heart. Rest assured you are saved by the blood of Christ. Baptism is just the icing on the cake....the fact you brought it up tells me The Holy Spirit is moving you to do it.

Easy fix go to all the churches around you and get baptized then your covered

I really only went there for church service anyways so I was never a practicing Mormon.. lol.. So do I need to get baptized as a christian, or is baptism "optional"? And does it matter what faith you're baptized in, as long as you ARE baptized?

GOD looks at the heart but I don't see anything wrong with getting baptized If Its an answer of a good conscious,but at some point the believer should understand and be conscious of their right standing before GOD and not feel condemned.

Many would never equate Mormonism with Christianity, though they (Mormons, or LDS) believe they are Christian. If I were you (I was not giving my opinion before, but now I will ) I would get baptized again... same as I was baptized as a baby in the RCC, but chose to be baptized as a born again believer when I repented at the leading of the Holy Spirit of God, laying down my opposition to Him and His will for my life, and accepting faith as a replacement for my willful rebellion against Him.

I was born into the RCC, so I got drizzled before I was two months old. When I became a believer, (and, looking back, it took be a good eight years to get to it lol), I chose to be baptized again. It's not a "need." It's a desire.

My current denomination thinks baby-baptism is enough. I didn't, at least for me. Then again, I wasn't even in my current denomination when I chose baptism, but I have no desire for three times.

If you want to, go for it. If you don't want to, you don't get stuck at the kiddie table in heaven. It really is whatever you think God's telling you in this case.

You don't even get the kiddie table in the back of heaven, if you choose not to. It's not something that saves. How would you do it? I got dunked in my adopted-mom's swimming pool by my pastor. (I adopted her. I didn't ever bother asking if she adopted me too. lol)

You don't need a baptismal fount made of marble with pretty carving on it. You need water. I don't know if you can get out of the house, or if you can get in a pool. (I keep remembering how scared adopted-mom was because she couldn't swim, but everyone was around her, so she knew we wouldn't let her drown, and she didn't even need to swim. She couldn't swim. Too many making sure she wouldn't drown so she kind of got carried in and out without even moving a muscle. lol) My denomination would have a pastor come to our house, ask for a cup of water, and do it on the sofa without even getting the sofa wet. (I think that takes practice though.)

It's a symbol of commitment. Kind of like the first rule of semantics is, "The word is not the thing. The word is a symbol for the thing." Replace "word" with baptism" and it is that -- a symbol.

Actually, talking of re-baptism, next year I'm planning to visit Israel. I'm going on a study tour and I hope to get re-baptized in the river Jordan - just because of the location.

Assuming you watch the service from the same church all the time, (as if it is your church), try calling them. I really was surprised to find out a pastor was willing to come to our house, just because we couldn't go to church. And, we really had communion together, (he even had a five minute sermon prepared. Way cool!), so we felt more a part of the church.

I have been re-Baptized!

Why you ask?

Because my first Baptism was as a 1 month old baby in the corrupted Catholic Church.

We cannot be Baptized as an infant. Its when we understand God and why we are Baptized that Baptism is for real. All those Baptized as infants in the Catholic Church have not receive Baptism!

I was re-Baptized in a True Christian Church!

I do not think Baptism in the Mormon Church is a real Baptism. So yes, have yourself re-Baptized!

If it is bothering your conscience then by all means get it done. And you do not need a church to get it done, but it is a good idea to have it done by someone you believe is anointed of God's Spirit. Anyone who is anointed of God's Spirit belongs to His true chosen priesthood, not mans. Also make sure they baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
