Jesus was bringing to His disciples attention that even though they were attracting crowds, most of the multitude were only motivated by self interest. The food that they were after would only last a day, but Jesus is offering us food that endures to eternal life. Jesus reminds us that His kingdom does not revolve around us, but Him, and that the God kind of life takes time and effort. Don’t set yourself up for disappointment due to shallow expectations. Learn to deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Him today
