@InSpiritinTruth yeah I do believe that what we think about mostly...As far as feeding the flesh.. is what makes the sin nature stronger in us. But as you said we have to being every thought into captivity and in obedience of Christ..

righteousness works the same way through the power of Gods atonement. were made like you are saying. adams nature is natural to sin, as we partake of Jesus nature "his teachings" practicing them, it begins to make righteousness more natural. it is of course a process. Jesus is there with us, and gentle. the power to be born again this way is found in the atonement. we believe the atonements power " you died, your not a sinner anymore" we trust that. and then as we follow the Lords ways.....were rising from that death.,

Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord ! if we believe we died with Him, then we will also Live with him. romans 6-8 is power to crucify the old man, the gospels are power to be raised in His righteousness. though we never reach His perfection. as we follow, we are made new step by precious step

There is a reason why God gave us a new perfect spirit and a new heart, but left us with our old sinful soul and body for the rest of our lifetime...
We are all pretty much agreed that FAITH in Christ is the way to eternal life with God. Assuming that one understands that, then the answer is plain to perceive. We need to keep that sense of NEED of Christ and most people, myself included of course, feel that need of a Savior, not when we are strong and righteous, but when we are weak.
Paul said, "for when I am weak, then I am strong" .... and when he wanted to be rid of his thorn (a weakness in the flesh), Christ said "my grace is sufficient for you".
The one thing we NEED is our faith in the grace of God (Christ Jesus) and our weakness helps us to keep it.

Oh yes @InSpiritInTruth...yes that's exactly what we need to do...we resist the devil he will flee...I also think having accountability partners around will help us in this walk of faith...knowing that we have people around us to confess our faults to as well as talk and pray about our struggles with can also make the load a bit lighter for us...

I agree and when were looking at Jesus, well never NOT see the need for Him, we see HIM by HIS WORDS and His nature is shown in Hos Life and teachings, He teaches us humility through fixing upon Savior, BUT also Lord and example ect....we learn to follow the holy spirit by learning Jesus. He is found in Gods testimony of His Life, the gospels. to follow Jesus will never leave one thinking they are worthy, righteous by Faith in Him, all of who He is. the comfort, the warnings, the teachings. that's the thing without looking at His perfection ads He revealed it, a person will think either, I'm a sinner, or I'm already righteous don't need to learn from Jesus. The spirits voice is found in Christ. He is our resurrection and does indeed melt away all our sin as we pursue His lead. the clear lead he left for us to know. we don't place faith in Grace alone, it is in Grace and truth where faith is found. " for the law came through moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
"the gospel of Jesus Christ, who provides grace, and teaches truth"
How do we fall from grace? We need the truth of Christ and His finished work to get grace to function in our lives and experience what Christ has already done for us...Here is a short 16 min. video for those that like to watch them....it'll bless you and you will fall deeper in love with the Lord Jesus.

You can put it this way,when we are led of the Spirit we will still be tempted,but we will not fulfill the desires of the flesh.
That is what Paul meant we can still be tempted when we go about doing good.
The Bible says there is no good thing that dwells in the flesh,for the flesh does not change when we are saved,but by the Spirit we can overcome the flesh,and so things spiritual,but we will still be tempted,but will not carry it out.
Also by being led of the Spirit,God will not allow us to be tempted above measure,and will cause us to escape the temptation.
When Paul said by the flesh he serves sin,does not mean sinning,but the flesh does not change,but with his mind he serves Christ.
The flesh doesn't stop doing its thing after we are saved,but still trying to have its way.
This is exactly what i have learn for quite a while now. Best way to handle a rough situation, just take it to Christ Jesus in Prayer

We are flesh, so we are naturally susceptible to the sins of the flesh. We are of this world, so we are vulnerable to worldly sin. We sin because we are born in sin, like a fish gets wet because its born in water. The Baptist and Jesus said "Repent". Not specifically to repent of sin, but just "Repent". It helps to repent before you sin instead of repenting after you commit the sin. When a sinful notion pops into your mind, that's the best time to repent. Change your line of thinking when you begin longing for the wrong things, not after you indulge in them. I want to get drunk, repent. I want to have sex with that woman, repent. I need to steal some money, repent. I guess that's how we overcome the evil with good, repent by giving it up before taking it up. That's a spiritual self-discipline that keeps us from dwelling on the wrong things and falling into temptation.. jmo

I have a theory, but I don't know if it's true or not. I think it's something like muscle memory. No one needs to teach us how to sin. We excelled at it and focused on it all our lives until God gave us new life. Hubby is rehabbing after full-body atrophy, and his PT keeps getting surprised that hubby knows where to place his feet to squat, how to do chest flexes, and so many other moves for physical exercise. He was a bodybuilder in his late 20's-early 30's, so he did those moves so often he doesn't have to think to do them right anymore. (It's 40 years later, too.) AND because his muscles literally remember, the muscles develop faster on him then on the guys who never lifted weights.
If we don't think out what we're doing, we go back immediately to what we know worked for us -- sin. It's a memory we built on so long ago, we don't even necessarily have to think it out. And, if we don't think it out, it remembers too, so grows much quicker than someone who never did that sin. When I'm strapped for money, I don't think, "Oh, I'll rob a bank." But someone who is born again and used to rob banks, will have that thought quickly. Go on the impulse without thinking it out, and he's right back to who he was before God. (And, I'm not saying I'm less guilty. My impulse is to look in all the places I usually hide money in case I ever get strapped. That's no more trusting God than the ex-bank robber.)
I think this helps to explain why we need to remember God and spend time with God 24/7. Otherwise, before we even think out what we're doing, we're right back doing what we used to, and left wondering, "How did I end up here AGAIN?"

Falling from grace is easy. If grace is your god, then it is a sin area, so no need to fall from it. Satan has us right where he wants us -- not trusting God, but trusting something else.
I really wish people would stop promoting "Grace" on here as if that is who we follow. We do not follow "Grace." We follow God. Follow Grace, and all you're doing is pretending one attribute of God IS God.
I do not know why promoting Joseph Prince material is any different than promoting Jehovah's Witnesses material on here. It IS promoting a product, not God.

I agree totally @depleted that when you've been living in sin for so long and you become saved you will result back to your sinful nature if you don't renew your mind...because basically we have to train ourselves in the ways of God instead of the ways of the world..that has to do with our rebirth process..yes we are born again but someone forgot to tell this old flesh...so that's why its important to pray, read the word, praise , worship, fellowship.. And all those things that helps to renew our way of thinking...so when the sin nature does arise will have a stronger urge to turn down sin
That is foolishness Lynn....Jesus Himself has put teachers in the body of Christ for us to grow in the grace and knowledge of Him. Obviously you are mis-interpreting what is really being said here.
People who believe in the grace of God continually lift up Jesus and point to Him for all things and we grow in Him by grace through faith in what He has already done.

We are sinners, so it is normal for us to sin. It is unnatural for us to do righteous works, and in fact we are incapable of doing any good work. Our good works always seek something for ourselves, they are not done in truth.
Once we enter into fellowship with Jesus Christ we become one with his righteousness which is in truth. We no longer desire to do our works, but His good works. It requires total submittion to the will of God, something we all are struggling with, because our will still wants to be dominant.

Falling from Grace, Surely means what it says.. Falling from the knowledge of Grace.. Over these past few days I have been so confused about all the different doctrines I have heard.. I can't receive anything other than Jesus is everything.. Jesus has done everything.. He has enabled me to do all things.. Not because of my effort but because of his grace.. Anything that says we have to "do" only makes us opinionated and proud.. Self preservation is the foundation of all works.. I have tried it and it's ugly.
As I write this my heart is so tender and my eyes are streaming because I'm so relieved to know that I no longer need to do anything.. He has done it all..

This by no means I can do whatever I want.. I think the preaching of this is heresy.. What it does mean is that if I know his love and allow him to love me I'll not want to do things that grieve his heart.
There's a huge difference.. Without knowing the love and the grace of God even the new testament brings condemnation to a striving heart. Everything is by his grace.. Everything. Only when we know and understand this will we die to self... Dying to ourselves in not an action on our part it is grace that melts away our self centeredness. . PRAISE OUR RISEN KING
